mediocre – I've lived in the Teele Square area for a few years now and always saw how crowded Renee's tends to be for breakfast on the weekends. This past weekend my boyfriend and I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about. We got there fairly early so there was no problem getting a table and the service was pretty good, probably because it was fairly slow at the time. Every 10 minutes or so our waitress would stop by to warm up our coffees. That's probably where the good ended for me. The food was terribly slow coming out and we waited approximately 40 minutes when there couldn't have been anymore than 5 other tables occupied at the time. When we did get our food, my eggs benedict were cold while the home fries that came with it were steaming hot. Cutting into the eggs, a big flow of water came spouting out ruining the rest of the breakfast, the english muffin was like a soggy sponge after that and the hollandaise sauce was not home made. The home fries were seasoned well but they were overcooked. It had to be one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had. My boyfriend had one of the specials which he did enjoy a great deal but agreed with me on the home fries. We also thought the menu was quite limited pertaining to the the usual breakfast menus we've seen at other local diners. Most of the menu comes off the specials board which although look interesting, you need to be in the mood for as they contain more unusual pairings. Sometimes you just want an old fashion breakfast. I might give this place another shot since my boyfriend enjoyed his breaksfast and seeing that a lot of people seem to love this place. Maybe I just ended up there on an off day, but I wouldn't order the eggs benedict again.

The Amazing Disappearing Act – This isn't a hot brunch spot, it's a magic show. The moment I was seated, it seems as though I had vanished. My coffee cup remained in the upside down position until I tackled the waitress, and after she had poured the coffee -- promising to be right back with the cream -- I once again had to flag her down by waving my cup of luke warm black coffee in the air.

I've frequented Renee's for 4 years. The service had always been smileless and rude, but the food was always prompt, light and delicious. After ordering, I sat for 40 minutes without a single drive by.... the "bottomless coffee" had also disappeared. It's one thing if the service is terrible but the food is great, but another if the service is terrible and the food slow (the place was not even busy). We ended up throwing $5 on the table and walking out. I'm not sure anyone noticed.

Cons: Still Hungry/Terrible Service/Rude Waitress

Great Place for all – One of the Best Places we have found!! We eat out for breakfast almost daily from Gloucester to Weymouth. I will be recommending this to all of my friends.

Not worth the wait – If you have to go to Renee's for brunch, eat at home first. That's the only way to make sure that you don't starve while waiting to be seated/waited upon, and that some of your food is actually a) hot and b) edible. Plus, your home-cooked eggs Benedict, more likely than not, will use real hollandaise sauce instead of the canned stuff.

Great Food, Bad Service – If you have nothing else to do besides eat breakfast, Renees is the best. The food is unbeatable, but the service is terrible. Eating here takes forever, which is great if that's what you want. The veggie eggs benedict are fantastic, as are any of their pancakes. Coffee is great, but you have to be persistant to get a second cup

Pick-up a local! – What everyone says about the slowness and they are grouchy, go with a local, you'll get the best breakfast in town..........you can maybe get by the other stuff....just eat.

A Rather Boring Breakfast – Expensive, mediocre food for a middle brow crowd. Since the expansion, it is no longer impossible to get a table, but one wonders why there was a demand. The food is greasy, poorly presented, and not cheap. If you desire diner food in Davis, go to the Rosebud.
