DJs bring me back – For all its anonymity and truly tasteless floor dancers, the music is great. They constantly bring in some of the bigger names and if you like house, this is the spot to be at on a Friday.
New addition: The NuRoom (the pretentious room in back) is cool because it's not as crowded as the main floor, which means the bartenders can actually hear you and serve you.
And I love that you can wander into Axis, Embassy, I/D, and the Modern if you want. :) That makes the cover almost justified.
AVALON the place to be bored. – AVALON ='s
1. Big gymnasium PACKED with alot of people, who dont like to dance, but just DRINK on the dance floor.
2. If your lucky, yout might catch a night where they actually play some good music and not music that you can fall asleep too.
3. You will never spend more money in one night to get in and buy a drink.
4. If your into standing around and drinking and at DANCE CLUB, this is the place for you.
If you like good music and love to dance, go down the street to one of the clubs that play good up beat music, NOT metronomes.
Battle Royal – Traveling to Boston on a baseball trip, my friends and I found Avalon and Axis Night Club to be a great after game party. Avalon was one of the best clubs I since been to. The dance scene is busy. It's perfect for a battle royal.
Pack 'em in – Poor Air quality, too overcrowded, expensive, too hot, too loud, to smoky
Go to Avalon and you'll overpay for your drinks and have to go back to have them add alcohol and that's after you fight you way to the bar. Once you get to the bar, you are treated as though you are a fly buzzing around the bartender's head. There do dance? Good luck just walking in the push/shove crowd.
Disastrous Evening – The cover is way too expensive. The music way too loud to make any sort of conversation. No place to sit if you aren't a VIP, and the music is absolutely terrible. The DJ would not play requests.
Cool BU Frat Club! – Backed by Camel Cigarrettes and owned by John Lyons, this "hotspot" sporadically draws in a mildly orignial DJ or two, although they do have the capital to draw in acts like DJ Krush, from time to time, and it can be refreshing to wander from Avalon to Axis and Embassy on Fridays, when all three are interconnected. If you've never danced with glowsticks before, this would be a GREAT place to do.
BOOOOOO! THUMBS DOWN – I have been to the Avalon numerous times. I have never been really thrilled by the place but I always give it another shot because they bring in some dope DJ's. That is the only thing they have going for them. The LAST time I visited the Avalon was Halloween night 02. It was HORRIBLE I went for the DJ (PVD). The tickets were 30 dollars a head witch is normal for such a big name. That was not the problem. The problem was we paid 30 dollars and got treated like Sh$%. There was no crowed control at all! It was so bad that you couldn't dance if you wanted to. People were literaly shoulder to shoulder. Have they ever herd of FIRE CAPACITY They just kept letting people in.
Avalon was great! – When I went to Avalon, I was really impressed with the awesome music and cool lights. Not to mention all the hot and friendly guys. We met some really cute British guys, who were unfortunately way too old for us. The club was a lot classier than anywhere else I'd gone. It's very expensive, but worth it. There are platforms that are elevated above the dance floor, and I had a blast dancing on the platform. I live in western Mass, and there are very few clubs out there. The ones I've been to have been trashy, with bad music, men who look like drug addicts, women who look like prostitutes, and a generally bad atmosphere. After my previous experiences with clubs, Avalon was refreshing and fun! One thing I didn't like was that there were drinks spilled on the floor so it was wet and gross.
Best Club in Boston – Great staff, good drinks, plenty of room to dance, fantastic music, top-notch light shows, the best DJs, and a trendy crowd. Check it out!
