I have been coming to this Salon for about 5/6 years. My hairstylist is Jeannette and I would not change her for anything in the world. She listens to your wants, she is honest in giving you suggestions and has a very pleasant personality. You get what you pay for!!!

Decent haircuts, but wayyy overpriced – I went here a few years ago to get a haircut after moving here for college. A few of my friends went, and said the prices were manageable, i.e. $35 for a cut. I went to them for a haircut, and had an older Asian man cut my hair. He was pretty good, and my hair looked the way I wanted it when he was done. However, when I went to check out, I found out that they wanted me to pay $65!!! I was a freshman in college without a job, and no one told me he was a master hairstylist. There was nothing I could do though, except fork over the money. I haven't been here for a haircut since then, but I've gone to get my bangs trimmed - they do it for free, and usually don't even accept tips.

Not worth the money – I went and got my eyebrows waxed and a manicure, and both were a waste of money. The girl did an alright job with my eyebrows but she got some of the wax in my hair and when i pointed it out to the receptionist she just pointed me to the bathroom and kept talking on her cell phone. The bathroom was really nasty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time, there was trash and dirt on the floor and that sort of thing really grosses me out. The manicure wasn't very good either, the woman got polish on my cuticle, and overall did a fast and sloppy job. The pricing for the manicure and eyebrows isn't that high but then again I probably could have done a better job myself, some of their other services are REALLY overpriced, like i think that a full set is like 60 bucks, and you can get a set for half that at one of the smaller vietnamese salons like on mass ave.

Bad experience – Got an aweful choppy blunt uneven haircut (like a 5 year old was let loose with scissors). Tried to have the stylist fix it, but basically after they tried to cut a couple pieces as I asked (and made it worse!!) gave up. Left in tears. Luckily got a very understanding, kind, stylist on the re-do who actually listened to what I wanted. Unfortunately though, she can't instantaneously grow back hair (which shouldn't have been cut in the first place). So, although it alleviated some of the ugliness, it didn't fix the problem. More specifically, the part of my hair that I had grown out, and was supposed to be let to grow out more was cut into what look like sideburns - horrendous. I get p-o'd looking in the mirror! Oh well, it'll grow back (again) but after going here for 2+ years, I don't think I'm going back.

Best Brazilian Waxer in Boston -- Vicki Graff – I wrote on Yelp after my first time with Vicki at Dellaria (August 2007). She is amazing. I went to her based on reviews I also read online. I wasn't taking any chances with a less-than-professional job. She walked me through it step by step, explaining what was going on as she worked. I was not uncomfortable holding my skin taut in different positions so she could get the best angle. This woman loves her job and is truly a star. She is beautiful inside and out, and was sensitive to the fact that I was nervous. It costs $60 at Dellaria to do the full Brazilian. Speaking of money: I was taken aback to find out that you can't add the tip onto your credit card slip. Yikes! Why do they do that? I didn't have any cash and was mortified.

You might be unsure what to expect as for the process itself. She works pretty fast (a huge plus!) but you don't feel rushed. She uses the soft wax with paper strips which definitely hurts more than the hard wax that drys on and you peel off, but this wax gets more of the tiny hairs out -- a huge plus when it's all over and you're totally smooth. She is really sanitary (never reuses her popsicle stick applicator things -- no risk of infection -- and gives you a paper thong to wear). She presses her gloved hand down on each section after she waxes it which alleviates the pain considerably. Just take two Advils about 45 minutes before your appointment, you'll be fine. It was 25 minutes tops. I expected it to hurt a lot more. Don't get me wrong: it's not really a relaxing process, but it's not unbearable either. She gets leftover "stragglers" with tweezers which is also painful but she's a perfectionist and I like that.

I went first thing in the morning because I feel cleaner right after my shower knowing she was going to be getting into my business. I've seen her probably 5 times since then and every time she does as well as the first. I can't speak about anyone else at Dellaria, but she is worth going to.

great colors, cuts, blow dries, and customer service – I love going to Dellaria on Comm. Ave. near Kenmore. Maureen does my hair(I followed her from Newbury St.), and she's the best! WhenI first went to her another hairdresser somewhere else had totally ruined my color, but Maureen completely fixed it without ruining my hair in the process. She's done highlights And"all over colorsl on me, the results always awesome. She always has great ideas, and also tells me the truth if my ideas are less than good! Her haircuts are also excellent. My hair is wavy and she always gives it the perfect shape, because she actually listens to what I want! Now all my friend go to her and WILL NOT go to anyone else. She is friendly, professional, and knowledgable. Whether your hair is curly, (she has great curls)or straight, thick or thin believe me this woman will know what to do to make your hair look fantastic!!!

Sandy's great... the curly-haired devil on floor 2 is the one who makes you want to cry. – Dellaria on Commonwealth is pretty good... depending on who you go to. I've seen three different stylists here, and the one I kept going back to was Sandy who works downstairs. This girl knows how to cut hair,. I've had full foil highlights by her, which, for the price, is about as good as you're going to get in Boston (it was 170.00 for the cut and a full foil combined). I've also had my hair dyed a 'deep chocolate brown' as Sandy called it, which was alright too (80.00-ish for the cut and color) but I asked for a lighter brown once and ended up getting the same exact color as the deep chocolate. A haircut by itself is about 35-40 dollars. She's always started on time and doen't pressure you to buy products, though is helpful if you ask about them. However, the one time I went to get a cut where the actual cut required some real know-how and skill by someone other than Sandy (I wanted a 60's inspired pixie cut) I ended up getting some girl upstairs who, while in the process of cutting all of my hair off, repeatedly asked me why anyone would want to get a cut like that. Um, call me nuts, but that's really not the kind of person you want cutting your hair- someone who complains about the cut as you're getting it. And then still expects a tip after she's made you look like a 'softball lesbian' as my coworker called it (um, and I'm not a lesbian, and I never really liked softball, so the comments I dealt with- as well as the 'is-she-or-isn't-she?' looks I got from people- for the next eight months were another great aspect to what the b**** on floor 2 did to my head). I don't remember her name but she had dark curly hair and the worst Puerto Rican attitude you could ever encounter. SO, in the end, I wouldn't think twice about coming here for another haircut with Sandy, but I'm still looking for the perfect colorist, who doen't seem to exist in this town, not even on Newbury.

inexperienced staff – I don't typically write bad reviews about places I go to on a regular basis however lately my experiences at dellaria have been less than satisfactory. I normally come to dellaria for my nails and hair.......if your looking for great hair I recommend Jason. He's funny and listens to what you want out of your hair. When it comes to nails I only see Amy. I've seen another girl once and that was one too many times for me.......she didn't come close to the job Amy does. After having such great experiences with my nails and hair I decided to give the skin care a shot. I came in for a bikini waxing and went home with bruises. I've had bikini waxes before and never have I bruised. The girl seemed as if she was unsure of what she was doing. When I was checking out I asked her to recommend to me some facial products which she again seemed really unsure about her recommendations and was checking with the receptionist that's always there who was alot friendlier and seemed to know much more than her. The staff used to be great. They were friendly, knowledgeable about services and product but lately I feel that there are lots of under trained staff who are either rude or just don't have any knowledge of services and/or product. After having said all this I will return to dellaria but only for services I know I will enojoy.

Jason is the best! – I went in search of a reputable salon near our condo for a hair trial for my wedding. I spoke to one of or a manager on the phone after reading some reviews either here or elsewhere online for a great up-do's person. The person I requested was no longer available/around, but the manager immediately chalked up what a great job Jason does. So I went to the trial and brought my mom and friend.

Jason is a warm personality and passionate about hair. He was not pushy and was very professional. He did a fabulous job on the trial and therefore did an equally fabulous job on the actual wedding day.

Since then (and that was a year ago), I see Jason for cuts. He has good feedback about what I want and how to take things to the next level stylewise without taking it immediately to the extreme.

One other important item I think is valuable to have in a hair stylist is a good repor so that communication is easy and you're comfortable making requests and being honest.

I highly recommend Jason.

Worst Manicure I have ever experienced; rude manager and staff – Since this place is so close to my apartment, I decided to try them out for a manicure. I won't go into specifics but the receptionist (who called herself the owner/manager) upstairs at the Aethetician waiting area was incredibly rude. While the manicurist was very nice and friendly, she was incredibly inept. I would say it rates up there with one of the worst manicures I have ever had.
