dishonesty – When my gas furnace failed in March a few years ago, Bay State sent me an urgent message, saying that they had to replace my meter to update it. Then they billed me for continuing gas usage, with a falsified "reading", even though I was using no gas! On the bill the reading was marked "true" rather than "estimated", a lie!
I checked the meter myself and it hadn't changed for a couple of months! I was making do with electric heat at the time. I told them their numbers were wrong and made them rebill for zero usage, which they finally did. Then they told me my meter was new enough that it did not need replacement after all!
They evidently thought their own meter had failed, but were billing me for an imaginary use of gas in an effort to avoid loss of revenue!
Now it is time to replace that meter, after seven years, and I spent more than a half hour on the phone trying to get through to schedule it. Was on hold but got disconnected once. Bay State has a web site, but it is down.
Poor behavior and poor service.
bay state gas networks rebate takes longer than 4-6 weeks try 3 months. – I replaced my old oil furnace with a new gas furnace because I was offered a rebate of 1000 dollars if I chose a higher effeciency boiler than I actually was going to purcahse. The rebate was to come in 4 - 6 weeks the mail reciept I received says it was accepted at gas networks on 11/28/08 it is now 1/16/09 so I called to see when my rebate was to be sent. I was told it would be sent out mid february. So it is not 4-6 weeks it is 12 weeks before i will see the rebate,if ever.
They do not do what they say and all they do is apologize and say I am sorry. Which means nothing. I could tell from the tone of her voice that this is something that she deals with all the time. By February they could be out of business and then they won't even be there to say, I am so sorry!
Whats with the threat? – They are ok as far as a utility co goes. But has anyone got the URGENT notice for service? (meter needs to be replaced I have called three times , left one message but keep getting these notices and now received "hate mail" that threatens to get a court order....not fair. I dont get it return my call or answer the phone
