good value overall – Our waiter, AJ, is top notch. Great service, attitiude, and attentiveness
We waited for drinks, came right before meal, it was obviously a bar issue, bartenders giving visable attitude to our server.
Food fabulous, great value for price.
far below average – We tried this place hoping for a tasty casual meal. While the decor was lovely and the menu extensive, the food and service stuck out for their inferiority. We ordered three dinner salads; two were barly edible the third was made incorrectly and took nearly 15 minutes to correct. The waitstaff was pleasant but incredibly slow, incorrect with the order, and we were left waiting for our check for 20 minutes.
Try somewhere else.
Poorly managed – I have been to several "Not your Average Joe's", their food is usually good, and the value is good. However, this particular one has very poor management : not only we (a party of 5) had to wait for over an hour after calling ahead (they do not take reservations). After waiting for an hour and 10 minutes, we were told that they forgot to transcribe us to the new list, and would sit us immediately. Yet, they sat a party of six down at the same table right as the hostess was leading us over. We left before eating to catch a movie, after waiting for an hour and 35 minutes. I recommend going with a full stomach, since the wait is so long, or not going at all.
With a lengthy menu of dependable comfort food and inventive pizzas, there's nothing average about this popular area chain. – The Scene
Each Joe's location handles a steady flow of hungry families and casual couples tired of national chains' bland cuisine and soulless atmospheres. While most nights bring standing-room crowds, waiting for a table can be avoided by sitting at the bar (the better to sample from a surprisingly varied, yet affordable, wine list). Servers, while kept in constant motion by the hungry masses, manage to keep baskets of spongy focaccia filled.
While most diners come for the eclectic, stone hearth oven-baked pizzas (shrimp and artichoke, spicy "voodoo" chicken), it's a mistake to ignore the rest of the varied menu. Start with a freshly-made cobb salad; full of grilled chicken, applewood-smoked bacon, and avocado, the heaping plate is large enough for three diners. Entrees consist of casual (savory Black Angus meatloaf) and contemporary (Mediterranean salmon with balsamic tomato-caper relish) options. Mammoth desserts include kid-approved favorites like strawberry shortcake.
A Best-kept Secret Spot – Great food, new combinations, a bit of seafood and GREAT pizza! If you enjoyed Bertucci's when it first appeared, or if you miss the menu at Naked Fish (its sad remains now Red Sauce), try NY(our)AJ.
Looks great, tastes OK – Cool atmosphere but the food has never impressed me. I expected the brinck oven pizza to be better and have had salmon that I didn't love. Not a bad experience, but you have to have a taste for less usual dishes.
awesome service and food – NJAJ has a varied, interesting menu. All the staff are upbeat and friendly. You always feel like you are treated personally. It is a casual, upbeat, fun place to go!
