The first of its type outside Manhattan, Best Cellars makes wine buying as enjoyable as wine drinking. – In Short
Are you flummoxed by wine stores? All those vintages, all those countries and all that pretentious language--Best Cellars puts your wine-buying worries to rest. This store groups its selections by taste and style, rather than by grape type or place of origin. Just decide which category you prefer: fizzy or juicy, luscious or sweet, soft or smooth. The staff is trained to help you pick a favorite, with no intimidating Parker ratings or oenophile's mumbo jumbo.

What a cool store! – I'm new to Boston and stumbled on Best Cellars because the Coolidge Corner store is right at my T-stop. I absolutely love it! I'm there all the time for the free wine tastings. I've found this store much less snotty than a lot of wine stores I've been in. Plus the layout is gorgeous. Every now and then the music is a little loud, but other than that, no complaints--it's really worth a stop. I just wish I'd thought of the idea myself!

Taste it – It's like wine shopping for dummies. A small selection of wines organized by flavor, like sweet or fruity. Salespeople are wicked helpful and there is always a tasting going on. One drawback is that their stock changes rapidly, so what you bought--and loved--last month may no longer be available. But since they keep track of your purchases in their computer they can make recommendations based on what you've purchased before. Every bottle used to be under $10. Prices have gone up slightly, but they're still inexpensive.
