Great Food Too – I’ve been to Watch City many times. I usually go for a couple of beers and order some food but things have changed. They change up the menu and it’s really good. They left a lot of my old favorites on like the wings, a great Cuban and the best fish and chips but now they are offering much more. They have an awesome Rueben and batter dipped burger that is juicy and deep fried OMG, I know it sounds a bit over the top but you have to try it to believe it!. I’m trying to eat my way through this new menu, the steak and cheese was incredible lots of melted cheese and mushrooms. There are a lot of interesting salads too. I tried the small dinner salad it was one of the best salads I have ever had, simple but delicious. I hate it when restaurants take good greens and smother them with bunch of things that taste terrible and I end up pushing aside. I don’t want the whole garden on my plate especially during the winter time when tomatoes and cucumbers are at there worst. They also are now offering daily specials. I went there last Sunday and had the Chicken parm, it was real piece of chicken that was more chicken than bread crumbs, thick, moist, and delicious. I love a good chicken parm and this one was right up there with the best I have had. Yes things have changed at Watch City, like I said; I used to go for a couple beers and some food, now I going for the food and a couple of beers.
Dinner Surprise – My girlfriend and I were out in Waltham recently and we walked into the Watch City Brewery.
Expecting the usual pub fare we got all that and much more.
To start with we got the buffalo wings they were great. They had a spicy sauce that put to shame most other wings I have had and served home made blue cheese dressing. It says on the menu all of the dressing are homemade. She is opted out a burger and got the grilled calamari salad with tangy lemon tomato vinaigrette. She said it was perfect. Always in the mood for a burger I got a burger with roasted peppers, sautéed onions, Swiss cheese and Arugula. It was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time cooked perfectly. We matched it all up with flight of beers. Four little tastes it was great, my girlfriend preferred the lighter tick tock ale but I liked the stout. Great music, friendly staff it was a really nice evening. We’ll be back in Waltham again soon. I want to try there Reuben but its hard to resist a good burger.
Best brewpub on East Coast – Despite some of the previous over-pretentious reviews, this place is hands-down one of the best brew pubs you are likely to find. If you appreciate a well-crafted brew and great food, do not miss this gem. I have fined and frank at many fine microbreweries and brewpubs alike...my final consensus is that I wish my local brewpub would hire watch city's brewer and line cooks.
Watch your Step & Keep Walking – ON a street with so many places to eat, there is no reason to eat here unless you accidently walk in and are too polite to leave. I had no problem leaving...so can't talk about the food or drink quality.
After a movie tried to pop in for a quick pint and some pub food.
Initial entry, drab and dreary, hostess sitting at bar watching TV, took her about 2 minutes to roll off of stool and waddle over to stand, place was two thirds empty, so requested seating by front window was instead was put next to a large party of load men looking like they were seriously overserved. Also was in front of one of those aviation hanger size fans which had the effect of an indoor Santa Anna wind, not date conversation friendly. Waited 10 minutes and food server hadn't even popped into area. Mind you there was just the big top and one other 2 top waiting for their food in this section. Their food arrived as they started to get up after calling it quits, to which they loudly objected to the quality and temp of the heating lamped food. This didn't bode well for a nice evening out, so we took the obvious omens from the gods and left. I guess there was a reason it was dead on a Friday at 9 pm, everyone else had their 1 bad experience and hasn't been back.
Steer Clear – Had an awful experience at Watch City- service was slow and terrible and rude on top of it, food was cold and we had gone for a celebration that was basically ruined by this resturant. Why bother to eat here when there are so many great resturants in Waltham? I would skip it.
Moody Street's main spot for fresh suds also serves upscale pub fare. – In Short
A vast, sunny space on the corner of Waltham's restaurant row, Watch City makes five flagship beers and a rotating selection of four seasonal varieties. (Crowd favorites include Tick Tock Ale, Hops Explosion IPA and Moody Street Stout.) All the brews are washed down with slow-cooked buffalo wings, three bean turkey chili and, of course, beer battered onion rings. Heartier menu options include half-pound, hand-pressed angus beef burgers, Moroccan grilled lamb kabobs and English-style fish and chips.
HORRIBLE SERVICE... Food Just Okay for Price – My brother and I went to the Watch City Brewery for lunch this afternoon with my 2 year old nephew. We were seated almost immediately, then no one greeted us again for at least 15 minutes. The waitress barely spoke about a whisper when she came over to us finally and did not say sorry for walking by us 4 times prior to greeting us. Honestly, we almost went someplace else but my nephew was really hungry. The food came up quick, thankfully, but the manner in which it was served as well as the fact that the waitress never came back to offer another drink or ask how everything was made for a very disappointing dining experience.
Fresh brewed! – Watch City brews some spectacular beers - this is not the place for the 'lite' beer sipper. If you like real beer, waste no more time and try out Watch City. Some of the best local brews I've had in the area.
The food is also impressively tasty, though I must say the quality of their brews overshadows the food for me. I've always been happy with my meals, and their menu is seemingly always expanding. The Watch City Roller is a nice accompaniment to a pint of Hops Explosion IPA.
Prices are more than reasonable - just beware the crowds at dinner hour.
Awesome Place!! – I have been going to Watch City for years. It just gets better and better. Reviews by whinny vegatarions DO NOT COUNT!! The food is great. I bring my kids in on Sundays. It is a very kid friendly place. The movie theatre next door is great too. You can have a nice dinner(pasta, fish, sandwiches). Then just walk 100 yards to the movies. Did I mention the beer? Always fantastic.
Menu needs more choices – I love the beer at Watch City. The food is another story. Although I love the onion rings, some of the other food could be improved.
The nachos are unlike any other nachos I've seen. A plate of beans, cheese, and salsa is served next to the chips. It gets pretty messy, and it's gross looking at the big soupy mess. The jalapeno poppers are good but they are sitting on canned tomatoes which makes them soggy. I'm not sure how the tomatoes are supposed to be eaten anyway.
The veggie burger they serve is obviously frozen, and not good. They have a vegetable pasta rotation that changes every few months. None of them have been tasty. I would love to see more appetizing vegetarian options.
I don't eat meat but I've heard the other dishes are good. A favorite is the Watch City Roller sandwich.
