Happy to have found them – I am currently expecting my first child and am extremely happy with the care I am getting at About Women By Women. Dr. Clark (Molly) is my main OB -- but I've liked all the doctors and nurse practitioners that I've met. I recently came to be a patient of this practice after getting less than attentive care from another practice during a difficult time early in my pregnancy. They were able to see me quickly and help me through my problems. The nurses are great -- quick to respond to my phone calls and always polite, knowledgable, and seem to truly care. I'm halfway through my pregnancy now and am so happy with my choice to come to About Women By Women.

Couldn't be happier... – I have been a patient of this practice for over 15 yrs. They are an amazing group of professional women who truly care about their patients. Dr. Margulies took care of me during two very complicated pregnancies. She was careful and kind, and always calm in the face of a new crisis. While the office can be very busy at times, I can't complain as I have always been offered an appointment right away when I have a concern. The nurses answer calls and questions very quickly, which is something I have not experienced in any other practice. Highly recommend.

What a relief to find a great Gyn! – What a relief to find a doctor who took the time to listen to my problem and talk through all my options! Molly Clark helped me feel really comfortable - needless to say, the gynecologist's office isn't the most relaxing place in the world. But Molly was great and I'd recommend her to anybody.

A wonderful practice – I have been a patient of About Women By Women for many years. I have been reading some of the reviews lately and I have to add my story. I did not have my babies with them, I lived out of state, but since my children were small I have been coming here. The doctors have always been helpful and very professional. The staff is very busy, but always pleasant and efficient. No practice is ever perfect, but this office is a great place.

I would, and do, recomend this office to my friends and family. Everyone I know that goes there has been more than happy. If you are pregnancy or just needing excellent GYN care, I highly recomend this office.

A SCATHING REVIEW - A cautionary tale – I visited this practice with my 3rd pregnancy last summer.

Essentially, you never get to speak to a doctor here, at least not to the same one twice. Whenever you call, there is one RN who apparently takes calls and she is never there. It is frustrating to leave message after message, and when you get to speak with the nurse, she is disengaged and dismissive.

I had had a previous miscarriage, am over 35, so I wanted to make sure I got timely checkups and blood tests. They did an initial blood test but upon reflection, I wonder why they did not check progesterone. They only checked HCG. It turns out it is common to be low in progesterone after 35 and the body will not sustain a pregnancy. They should have checked it knowing that I had miscarried previously. But as you will see, this is very typical of this place. They are clueless, there is no communication between anyone and honestly, it runs like a factory.

They did an ultrasound at 10 weeks (btw I had still never spoken to or seen a Dr. yet) and unfortunately, I had a blighted ovum. I then saw Dr. Kattal who was in the office at the time who then presented me my options. I chose to take the pill to miscarry which I then did over the next 24 hrs. (I never saw her again).

After the miscarriage I continued to feel very ill and called the practice several times to try and speak with a Dr. At no time did a Dr. call me. Not once. I would speak to the nurse and she would say "Come get a blood test". I called them probably 5 times over the next 2 weeks because I felt extremely unwell and still "felt pregnant". They kept saying its normal and to wait. I was brought in twice to get blood tests. They wanted to check my HCG levels. Not once, did they think it might be important to do an ultrasound - which I then found out later is protocol for a case like this. They are supposed to do an ultrasound 1 week later to ensure all the tissue is out. They didn't.

2.5 weeks later I hemorrhaged at 2 in the morning, was taken to the ER on 2 IVs, with a BP of 68/38. I went into shock at the hospital convulsing and dry vomiting. I had an emergency D and C by Dr. Molly Clark who happened to be there then. (I never saw her again either, neither did she ever call me knowing her practice had been so negligent). My HCt was 23 so they debated a transfusion but decided against it. Apparently, I still had pregnancy tissue left that was toxic. It took me 2.5 months to recover from this. I was so weak.

What frustrated me so much was that this was TOTALLY avoidable. Turns out, they were supposed to get me in 1 week after the miscarriage to do an ultrasound to check if everything was clear. Somehow, they didn't follow this protocol with me, even when I called them repeatedly to report that I felt unwell. In the aftermath when I visited, I saw Dr. Vasilakis (yet a new Dr., not Dr. Kattal or Dr. Clark) who I explained this to. What was she going to say? She didn't make much eye contact but didn't apologize either really. I did tell her that perhaps they can retain more RNs given that Dr.s are not there to speak to patients over the phone or answer phone calls.

A last note regarding front desk: The waiting room is very busy, and there are several front desk receptionists who seem so busy, it always takes several minutes before someone even acknowledges you. They seem very unprofessional, there is always food on the desk, and they are busy chatting with each other. This was my impression but the place was v. busy so I expected that beyond this initial impression, everything else would be fine.

Since then, I have spoken with so many people who have had similar experiences and swear they would never touch that place. I should have done my research. Honestly, this is the worst place. I would avoid them. FYI, I don't tend to leave reviews, maybe only if I have something glowing to report. However, I feel so strongly regarding this, I want women to know what kind of place this is. AVOID.

Saved my Life – I was having a great deal of pain and bleeding and I could not get the practice I had selected (ACROSS THE STREET FROM EMERSON HOSPITAL) to see me. Bleeding for 11 days and bent over in pain, and they refused to see me. AWBW had me in the next day and diagnosed my ectopic pregnancy and internal bleeding. Molly did a wonderful job with my surgery. I returned for the birth of my son, and recommended my sister to the practice, and who has had both her children with them. I will say that this practice (I go to Wellesley) has gotten very busy and they are clearly working on managing their growth, but this is still the best bunch of OBs I know about.

Warning: If Catholic, stay away from this practice – I have been using this practice a few years for regular exams. Since my marriage this past summer, my husband and I have been trying to conceive. A month before our marriage, I went in compaining about a pain and was told it was just a cyst and it will go away... The pain continued and felt pretty extreme at times. Then in September, I visited again because the pain would not go away; I had a ultra sound and it revealed a small cyst on each ovary and a 3.5cm fibroid. I was told not to worry about anything and the pain will go away. They knew my husband and I were very eager to have children and knew my age, 34, was a factor. Iwas told to come back after 6 month if we didn't conceive. Well, I came back for that reason and also because the extreme pain that was still occuring. Their suggestion was to obtain and HSG, bld test and then my husband would need to submit a seaman sample. Once that was done, then I would go on fertility drgs... Well, I explained because of our religious beliefs, it was a grave matter if he was to masterbate to obtain seaman and Dr. Marguiles responsed with a rude tone in her voice saying "show me where that is against the teaching of the Catholic faith." Then I also made note that certain fertility drgs are also against the Church's teaching and received another rude response. I was told they have many Catholics who come to their practice and they have no issues with the procedures. When I had called the nurse concerning the pain again, I was told I just must be one of those women who are sensitive to cysts. She and I also talked again about fertility and the nurse gave me a hard time too about my beliefs and my husband sinning... I had also been charting my cycle and when I brought it in for the doctor to review, she had no interest in looking at it. In the meantime, my bld test came back and I was told it was fine... Pain was still occuring and I went for another visit; The doctor did not do an exam but just talked to me. Then I received the bill and it said a pelvic exam was done. At this time I was crushed because I felt like I was being persecuted for my faith. When I went to another doctor, who was Catholic, he looked at my bld test and made note it was not and that I had a higher LH # than the FSH, which creates and issue with the brain communicating with the ovary; a contributing factor to infertility. Then I also found out from the new doctor, the pain I have been having is due to endometriosis, another thing that contributes to infertility, and he was baffled after reading the reports from About Women by Women. In their reports, it notes the constant complaint of pain but no treament. Then they were kind of enough to note that my husband is a "staunch Catholic" and refuses the analysis. A staunch Catholic, how about just Catholic. I believe this practice it for the women who want to use drgs for everything. The drgs end up hurting your body in the long run. I was abloe to find a doctor who is Catholic and whp practices the NaPro Technology, which is completely approved by the Church. This is a natural way of increases fertility and treating sub-feritility and infertility. The system has a higher success rate that the IVF and fertility drgs.

Great Office – This office is great, it is large and can seem busy, but the staff is caring and knowledgable. doctors and nurses you can trust. The office offers lots for women, botox and laser (good prices) and getting these things done by a MD or RN makes me feel much more comfortable. Always easily accessible to ask ?'s. I would recommend this office to anyone.

Worst office staff – I am pregnant with my first baby and am 13 weeks along and I have yet to see a doctor. I found this office online and know a person who delivered with these doctors and I wanted an office that is in between metro west and Boston. So far I have had 3 appointments and all have been mis scheduled or screwed up in some way. The reception staff may just be the rudest people I have ever come in contact with. I walk in the door and they do not even look at you as you approach the desk..just look straight ahead and talk to you like you're not even there. As a newly pregnant, first time patient here, I felt really uncomfortable and not welcome at all. The ultrasound technician was nice, but very robotic and quick. I have an appointment tentatively scheduled for today but my doctor may not even be coming into the office. I can't rely on this office and will most likely change offices in the next few days. If you can avoid About Women By Women, all the better for you. The doctors may be nice (i have yet to find out) but the first impression, reception staff, are terrible and not worth any of the hassle they put you through.

Love Dr. Vasilakis – i have been a patient of Dr. Vasilakis for 5+ years, i switched to this practice with her. She has been an amazing doctor and watched me closely when i has pre-eclamspia with my first pregnancy, and gestational diabetes with my 2nd. She also helped me every step of the way when i had problems getting pregnant with my 2nd. My husband and i couldn't be more satisfied with the care i recieved. i feel blessed that Dr. Vasilakis was there to deliever both of my children.

i have recommended AWBW to my friends and family, and will continue to do so... especially Dr. Vasilakis.
