Proceed with caution! – Reviewed by Monica B.
I give this place one star and encourage anyone contemplating patronizing this place to proceed with caution. I called to attempt to schedule appointments for three people and the receptionist was rude and overall lacked customer services skills. I requested a Saturday and was informed that she couldn't check availability and if my date wasn't flexible we probably should go someplace else. Wow! very rude and when I proceeded to explain this to her she kindly disconnected me. So to me the interest in being more customer friendly/accommodating is at the bottom of their list. I am happy to say me and my friends will gladly take our business someplace else. Will also make it a point to spread the word to friends and colleagues.
Bad Birthday experience – My mom and I booked services to celebrate her 77th birthday. She an Exfoliating Body Scrub and had NO Scrubbing, the technician couldn't get the water shower to work, and did not rinse the salt off...like at all! The room was cold, and there was no robe provided. It was horrible for her and I was felt terrible that her birthday treament was such a bust.
I had a pedicure, while she did a good job on my feet, at the end of the service, she scooted back and said, ok, now take the elevator down, and don't put your shoes on for an hour!......REally!...I had to leave the building with my toes wrapped in cotton, carrying my boots........it was quite uncomfortable.
Very Unhappy! – Review May 3, 2010: I have been going to Robert Andrew since I moved to Maryland in 1997. I am so sorry to say that I will never be returning there except for my regularly scheduled hair cuts with Lisa, who by the way is FANTASIC!! This latest lack of response or concern on Robert Andrew’s part has completely turned me away from spending another penny there and over the years I’ve spent Millions of pennies! I am an extremely busy professional who requires weeks in advance to schedule any outside personal services. I scheduled my hair appointment with Lisa weeks in advance and re-arranged my works schedule so that I could be there for my 4PM appointment. Upon arrival I was told that my appointment had been changed for me to see someone else. I asked why this was done as I have never seen anyone but Lisa for the past 13 years. The young woman stated that for some reason they bumped my appointment and gave it to someone else. The spa coordinator came over to tell me that Lisa could fit me in at 6:30PM if I wanted to wait. I told her no that I would just need to re-schedule. When I came to work the following day I sent an e-mail stating my concerns. I received no response. I then went in and responded to their comments section, again no response. When I went into see Lisa at my newly re-scheduled appointment she greatly apologized, however it wasn’t her fault at all. I told her I had sent 2 comments concerning my bad experience and no one had contacted me. She said she would pass this information on and have someone get back with me. Well that was 4 weeks ago and still no call! I had some spa appointments scheduled for May which I cancelled and have decided that I will only go there for my hair. I feel I’ve been a very loyal customer over the years and at the very least deserve a personal phone call apologizing for their error. My feeling is that if I would have cancelled my appointment less than 24 hours I would have been charged for their inconvenience. So at the very least I should have been compensated for my inconvenience! Michelle (Church Hill, Maryland)
Won't go anywhere else – I started working at RA at the beginning of summer 2009. With employment came employee discounts, and I immediately became a color fiend. However, in the fall when I had to go back to school, employee discounts were not available to me anymore because of my decrease in hours. Although I do not get these discounts anymore, I won't go anywhere besides RA for my hair. Hilary, a young, bubbly, and talented stylist, has turned me from brown to blonde and back to brown, and I have never for a moment been unhappy with or upset about my hair. My haircuts by her have never been better, and I refuse to see anyone else. Kristin, another young and talented girl, my favorite aestitician, was able to clear up my skin and reccommend products that keep it fresh and clear. I won't see anyone else for facials or waxing--she shaped my eyebrows perfectly and never disappoints me! As far as nail techs and massage therapists go--I've never gotten a better pedicure and had a better conversation with my nail tech than with Tyryk, and I hear Gloria the massage therapist is absolutely excellent. RA is the way to go.. prices are steep but are absolutely worth it.
Wonderful – From the minute you walk in the beautiful Tuscan theme instantly relaxes you. Wait times are just enough to relax you even more. (I have had manicures, pedicures, massages (including maternity), and facials and all of them left me feeling completely pampered and refreshed.
What am I going to do for my wedding? – I am going to get married in May and I just learned that Marlene Noshay has moved to another salon. She is one of the most talented stylists I have ever had cut and style my hair. I attend many black tie events and I always receive many compliments after Marlene has styled my hair. When I finally set my wedding date, it was a no brainer that Marlene would be the one to style my hair!
No one at the salon compares to Marlene and I am going to search far and wide to find her.
Wonderful!!! – I love Robert Andrew Salon and Spa! I have been going there for a few years now and it is the best spa (by far) that I have ever been to. I do everything there: facials, massages, nails, hair cut/color and waxing. I have always had excellent customer service, from the time I book the appointment to the technician providing the service. I also like that I can book an appointment online, so any of their spas. The atmosphere is above reproach and they offer amenities that I have never found at other spas (of any caliber). The tranquility room, heated beds and warm neck wraps are just a few things they add that make it the best. Some services might seem a little high in price, but the service is worth it. Of course, I have my favorites for my services that I can request and get appointment with. Try it...you'll love it!
Do not go to this salon! – I have had many poor experiences as of late at this salon...similar to other reviews. Please consider another salon, and don't "buy into" the hype or the prettiness of the salon.
Where is my Thermal Straightening Specialist! – I am so upset! I called to book a Thermal Straightener with my specialist Nicole Bilzor and found out she is not there anymore. She is the only one I will let touch my delicate hair. Robert Andrew is also making everyone that books a straightner pay the full price up front ( $650.00 and up) before the service is even booked!!! Hello......we are not in NYC. I think I will just keep using my mixedelements salon hair products until I can find her. Nicole really cares about her clientele and would always come in on her day off to straighten my hair. Too bad Robert Andrew,,,,you have lost my business.
good/bad – Had my hair cut here by the same stylist more than once. The last time I went to her she cut my hair uneven. One side was very noticeably shorter than the other. I called to let her know and she apologized and told me to just come in and she'd fix it. I live an hour north and she knew it so I went in late and told her to just leave it wet so she could get home and I could get on the road for my hour drive back home. The next day when I was doing my hair, still uneven. Called her again, she apologized and said she didn't know what was wrong with her to again come back in, no appointment needed for the 3rd go around. She again apologized and fixed it. Still wasn't right but didn't want to leave with a bald head so I just dealt with it. I never bothered going back due to her lack of customer service I felt should have been offered. Next haircut free or maybe a gas card or oil change would have been nice! The place is amazing looking, great design!! I've had many facials and body treatments, pedicures, etc. They were all very good, nice experience. Haven't been back for any of that due to my favorite esthetician left.
