Their menus online show a full range from Sandwiches to Panini and fully dinners, until you arrive then full dinners are only available in the restaurant otherwise they will seat you in the Bar area. When we made our reservation 2 days prior we were assured the regular menu would be used on Mother’s Day. But when we arrived it was a select menu costing $26 and up for any dinner, the crab cake dinner was normally $28 but raised the price to $35, we were told by one of the owners it was because they can! In addition the minimal tip was 20% automatically on the check. We were regular customers for many years, but no longer. Many others walked out the door, parties of 8, 12 and 24 people left due to the poor attitude of the manager and owner.
"EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE & LONG WAIT" – My wife & I often purchase Groupons to try new restaurants. When we arrived at Jimmys, we were seated right away. Then a young man brought us water (city tap water, unfiltered) & took our drink order.
We then waited for 20-25 minutes, before I finally got up to check what the problem was. I approached 2 female servers who were standing at the bar & chatting. I asked if the table we were seated at was on their list of table to be taken care of. They then jumped up & said "OH we'll get someone there right away”.
Soon thereafter a young man came with our drinks & proceeded to spill the red wine on my daughter & her "Coach" pocket book.
While we waited for our food, another group of 4 people arrived and were seated next to us. They waited for at least 25 minutes & no one even brought them water. They finally got up & left, without anyone from the restaurant even noticing they were there.
The food was very good, but small portions.
The clams casino were 8 to a platter, each being the size of a nickel ($8.95).
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
If you are like my wife & I & only go out once a week, on Friday to enjoy ourselves, don’t bother going here.
Best crabs, better service. – Using the urbanspoon app for my iphone, i stumbled across this place. I was taken aback by the Greek salad and clams casino! Even better were the steamed crabs we ordered. The staff, and the regulars seated at the bar, were so incredibly friendly. We will certainly be back.
False advertising !! – Where do i start no 1.00 crabs when your the second table to arrive. We ordered to pichers of soda it was 15.00. I get my bill and see for our table of four they added an 18% gratuity to it. Then i give them a Discover card to pay and they say they don't take it. On there website it listed form of payment Discover. My husband even called before we went to make sure they were having 1.00 crabs when we get there they were out. I sent them an email about my complaints and the ad with the Discover card form of payment. NO RESPONSE!!
food was ok but service was terrible – My son and I went there for a ravens sendoff party on friday jan 16th. We got there a little early so we asked what to do until the party started. They said we could eat in the dining area or have the buffet at 5:30. It was early so the waiter suggested that we eat in the dining area until the party. We finshed eating at 5:30 went to get in line to go upstairs and they said we had to pay 22.00 each to go upstairs to the buffet. We had already eaten so I was not going to pay for dinner twice. No one told up about paying to go upstairs and meet the players. It seems they wanted you to pay twice for dinner just to see the football players. Very unorganized. So after spending 75.00 on dinner, drinks, tolls, and gas, we did not get to see one player. My son was so upset over this as he and I wasted a fun night out. The waiters name was Jim and clearing did not know how to treat people. I will not go back ever. They should make it up to my son and me for treating us like we didn't belong there. I suggest they get new serverers and better run there business. What a ripoff business. double charging people just to look good for the ravens. they won't be in business long if this continues. Bad Experience – We had our annual Department Crab Feast this afternoon at Jimmy's. We were a party of 40. The time was from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30. When we arrived at 11:30, the only food to be seen was a bowl of Caesar Salad that could have served 10, a bowl of potato salad and cole slaw (approx. 2 lbs. each). At noon, a tray of fried chicken appeared (harder than a rock) which disappeared after the first 15 people served themselves. The upstairs room in which we were housed, was dingy and the bar only had soft drink taps--beer was poured into plastic pitchers and walked up the flight of stairs. The crabs appeared at 1:15.
But the worst part of the afternoon was when our table had finished our crabs and there were four left. I had jokingly told my husband that I would bring him home a crab and so I took one and wrapped it in a brown paper towel. As I was leaving, one of the wait staff stopped me and said that I couldn't take the crab home. When I asked what they were going to do with the left-over crabs, I was told that they were going to be RESOLD downstairs!!! I brushed by the server and he actually tried to take the crab away from me. One, am I the only one who thinks that reselling leftover crabs is a health violation!! Also, I wasn't leaving the place with a Hefty bag slung over my back filled with crabs, but a lonely crab in a soup bowl--and the server actually tried to take it away!!
I am not from Baltimore, and maybe this restaurant is an icon here, but I found the establishment to be dingy; the food mediocre, at best; the service terrible; and the thought of reselling crabs that had been sitting on my table for a couple hours completely unethical. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
Really Good with those Old Bay Seasoning!!! – My husband and I are not fond of crabs. However, our friends highly recommended it, so they took us there one Sat. Oh Jezz, now I'm hooked!!!! Definitely worth trying!!!!
