I have always been impressed with the professionalism and level of care this hospital displays. Not only is the clinic immaculately clean, they are well-organized, friendly, and extremely reasonably priced.
My family has been going to the hospital for many years, and have had only positive experiences with all our pets. We have a very young dog who has had some health problems and just recently had a reaction to some medication she was on for an infection (which they had taken extremely good care of on her last visit) and Dr. Westbrook came in to the hospital to meet us on a sunday to make sure she was okay. She had been shaking and been very dizzy and nauseated, and was refusing to eat or drink.
After some treatment she went home acting and looking 100% better. It was a testament to this hospital's kind doctors that he was willing to come in on his day off to make sure that his patient was doing well. I was extremely relieved to know that she was in such capable hands, and will continue taking all of my pets there.
Quite simply the BEST. My dog has a very unusual condition for a canine. Based on a recommendation I took my dog, from San Diego to Dr Ryan at the Banning Veterinary Hospital. Dr Ryan is professional and compassionate...what a GEM. The facility is state-of-the art and the prices are extremely reasonable. I was most happy with the outcome. O.K., I do have a complaint... he is in Banning instead of San Diego!!!
Excellent Veterinary Hospital - Dr. Ryan – I brought my cat Frosty in today to see the veterinarian for an abscess under his chin. Frosty was given anesthesia and the abscess was drained. He also had his Feline 3 yr. Booster, 1 yr. Rabies Vaccination plus an antibiotic injection that lasts 14 days.
I was very surprised to see Frosty up and running around only after a few hours of returning home.
I am very happy with the care my pet received today. I will definitely be returning and referring the Banning Veterinary Hospital to my friends and family.
excellent vet. mart westbrook – We had a very sad thing happen our 12 year old standard poodle contracted IMHA. It was diagnosed quickly, but unfortunately progressed just as quick. Over a period of 4 days we were in and out of the clinic. The level of care and compassion given by the staff and especially Mart Westbrook was very exceptional. Thank you very much. Doug and Jean Marki
Really Greatful – i just want to say that although this is still hard to write, Im really greatful to Dr. Grover for making what was a very difficult decision to make a lot less painful. I had to unfortunately put my baby "rocky" to sleep this past Monday Dec. 19th. I was just passing by from Big Bear Mt. on my way to Yuma,Az. That weekend i noticed my baby very sad and lethargic I knew it then and didn't want to face reality so on our way back home my husband stopped for a burger and i guess i was just waiting for a sign and there it was. Banning Veterinary was there, i got off to what i thought at that time would just be a pain killer so Rocky could make it home. And unfortunately it turned out that i would walk out without my baby in arms. Dr.Grover was very honest about his state of health and gave me every option possible but i knew that it was time to let him go and not make him suffer any longer. Dr. Grover respected our pain and gave us the time to say our good byes to our baby. He arranged for his ashes to be delivered to us without us having to deal with paperwork. I'm very thankful for his consideration and heart to heart conversation he had with us. I'm at peace with knowing i did the right thing for Rocky without ever feeling guilty that i didn't do the right thing..all thanx to Dr. Grover.
Avoid the Teeth Cleaning – BEWARE: "Teeth Cleaning"
I took my pet dog in for an examination about a 3 weeks ago, and during the course of the exam, the vet found ONE (1) front tooth to be slightly wobbly, and he indicated that all of her other teeth were fine, but recommended that she have her teeth cleaned, and indicated that the wobbly tooth might have to be removed.
Consequently, I made an appt for a week later to have her teeth cleaned. The quoted fee was $180, and because I am not working, I felt that $200 would be my absolute limit.
When I arrived with my dog, I had to sign an authorization that gave the vet the right to extract whatever teeth he determined should be removed.
In retrospect, this form is there for a reason, specifically, that Banning Veterinary has had prior problems (legal I assume) as a consequence of being overly aggressive in tooth extraction.
I also asked to speak with the vet before I let my dog go, but all I got was an assistant, who I again explained my employment situation to, and what my expectations were for this visit.
When I returned to pick up my dog, I was informed that they had removed nine (thats right, 9 !! ) teeth.
That is about 25% of all of her teeth. She is also an older dog.
I was LIVID, but powerless to turn back the clock on what had just been done to her.
As I was checking out, ANOTHER owner was picking up his dog, and his dog ALSO had nine (9) teeth removed.
(BTW: 9 teeth = $100 extra in charges.)
THE BILL: Was OVER 200% of what I had been told, or TWICE what I couldn't afford.
WORSE: My dog was heavily drugged, and in obvious pain. Remember, she is over 70 dog years old.
So the lessons that I now have seared into my mind, and the recommendations I am suggesting anyone follow, regardless of where you may consider having this done.
However, I would ABSOLUTELY adhere to the following at Banning Veterinary.
1) Speak to the vet that will perform the
WORST VET EVER, ALMOST KILLED MY DOG – First thing is first they told me my dog need surgery off of one xray. Going animal samariatians I learned they needed the proper at least 4 xrays to tell if she needed surgery. The x-ray was done from side view and to tell if a head femoral needs to be done you need straight views to tell. Anyways the quote said he was going to do more x-rays the time before he did the surgery. NEVER DID. He opened my 10 year old girl and performed unneccessary surgery. This surgery was done Oct 2010 it is now March 2011 still not healed, she wont eat and cant jump anymore. They dont do their work properly and they do unneccessary surgeries for money. Now my dog has to live in this pain forever. He said once he cut her open that this surgery had already been done, if he took his proper x-rays he would of known he shouldnt of done the surgery. Do yourself a favor and dont go to this VET!!!!! Just cuz they are cheap, theres reasons people are cheap! Remember they could of killed my daughter (Black Lab)during surgery.
Banning VET HOSPITAL is GREAT! – I moved into town. Looked up reviews on Banning Vet Hospital and was afraid to take my cats and dogs into them. I tried one vet in Yucaipa. Office and exam rooms had cement floor..my cat went twice, and had Xrays and still was hacking out a lung. I took my 14 year old beloved Siames, Chelea into Banning, tooks meds, showed vet. He took x ray, gave her a shot of steroids and fo first time in six months, cat isn' hacking. Took Jonah, snow leopard bengal in first. He had just been attacked by a COYOTE. I called first, and they were waiting! They NEVER asked me for a cash deposit or credit card, nor did I sign my life away. They tended immediately to Jonah...and I picked him up four hours later..and he completely healed. Both times the price was far below what I am used to paying in Phoenix, Az. The vet is a great guy. He explains everything to the whole family. and not as if you were three, but not as if you attended three years at uc Davis vet school either. THey DO NOT have emergency services there when they are closed. You have to go to Grand Terrace or Indio. I would like to do "something" so people have an emergency NIGHT and after hours vet clinic here in town. It is SO much needed! I can't really blame the vet for not wanting to meet folks all hours of the night and weekend to treat them, like they did in the old days. I guess vets too have to have time with their families. This place isn't 'fancy" but it doesn't have cement floors either. They are quite friendly and as I said, the vet is great. He is saving our furry friends, keeping some money in our pocketbooks and has a great tableside manner.
THE JURY IS STILL OUT – IM HOLDING BACK MY EMOTIONS, DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE CASE, MY DOGS IN NEED OF A SURGERY TO REMOVE A PLATE FROM A BREAK IN THE PAST , 3 1/2 YEARS AGO, IM PRETTY BROKE, DISABLED AND SO, I AM SPENDING MY BILL MONEY TO CARE FOR MY DOG, IVE ALREADY SPENT OVER 150.00 DOLLARS AND I AM THE SAME PLACE I STARTED , THE DOGS GETTING WORSE, SO IM ACTUALLY WORSE OFF, IM HOPING THEY WILL CONSIDER MY SITUATION AND WORK WITH ME RE COST OF SURGERY OR AT LEAST A PAYMENT PLAN I CAN HONOR.
