I think the food here is quite good. On food alone, one of the best Thai places in the neighborhood. One time, when eating here with a friend, he didn't want to take home his leftovers and the waitress got upset. So just take them, and do with them what you will.
The Best Thai Food in California – Mae Ploy is the !!!BEST!!! Thai food Restaurant in the state.if i were to only one food in the world I'd have there yellow chicken curry. Its the The Best Curry Ever.If you ask me what i get from there menu it is the fried rice, there fat noodles, and of course there yellow chicken curry, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
SO IF YOU ASK ME FOR THE BEST THAI FOOD IN LOS ANGELES I RECOMMEND GOING TO MAE PLOY
Friendly Service – Mae Ploy is a Thai restaurant that I would like most people to try if they are into the authentic food. I order a Thai boat noodle dish when I got there. It was good but not the best, but the portion was big pretty big. I also had there fried rice, I personally thought it can use more seasoning in it. The restaurant itself is a decent little place nothing to fancy with cute little decorations. The service wasn't too bad. There were always refilling my drinks. They were really friendly too.
Very good food at a decent price! – Discovered Mae Ploy on the way downtown one day and I have to say it has become our favorite Thai restaurant in LA (our other being Sanamluang in the valley.) My wife and I are both San Francisco expats and are pretty picky about our asian cuisine. I've always found the dishes we've ordered fresh and delicious and the staff gracious. I recommend the crispy pork (lechon style) with chinese broccoli or the crispy pork fried rice, Pad Thai with fried tofu and the po taek spicy lemongrass seafood soup. When you walk in there is a steam table with chinese take out but just ignore that and step to your right into the dining room and I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the good food. To be honest when we saw the steam table with the chinese food we almost walked out. But on the urging of the owner we stayed and it's been three years of good food.
Yuckers!! – Worst Thai in town. Completely unappealing, boring menu and nasty food. The only thing going for it is probably its close proximity to people lacking taste buds.
Great Home Cooked Thai food... – I know LA is saturated with Thai cuisine... in fact you can find a Thai restaurant every half mile. However, that doesnt mean all Thai food is the same. Mae Ploy, for example, is quite possibly my favorite Thai restaurant in LA, definitely my favorite on the East Side. What this little restaurant lacks in size and a singing Thai Elvis, it makes up for in friendliness, good value, and great home cooking taste. Having traveled all through out Thailand, Mae Ploy in my opinion comes the closest to that authentic Thai experience. The food is not fancy, nor is it tamed down for American pallets, rather it is served up real and honest, and savored to the last bite. I love the Mussoman Curry with shrimp, and when I am feeling a little under the weather, the sea food soup (with all of the spices and lemongrass) fixes me right up. So if you want to eat good Thai food like it was cooked in Thailand, try Mae Ploy.
Great Thai Food – This is probably my favorite Thai restaurant in LA. The wait staff is very friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable. It's not particularly fancy but it's a nice "mom and pop" type place.
Best Thai on the Eastside – I've been eating here for years and it's still consistently delicious and a great value. Delivery is sometimes slow but it's well worth the wait. The menu is huge and varied and everything is good 100% of the time. Service is friendly for eat-in. Tons of vegetarian options too.
Friendly Staff, Standard Food – The friendly staff makes this place worthwhile. The food is good but not spectacular. The dining room is pleasant but not particularly memorable. However, whether you're eating in or just stop by to pick up a to-go order, the staff is always friendly and attentive. Mae Ploy also delivers, but be warned--I've waited an hour for my food to arrive, and it routinely takes them 45 minutes or more to deliver to me less than 3 miles away.
