a beer and a shot of tequila for $1 extra. free peanuts. Great bartender cleavage! – I love this joint. It's really a diamond in the rough. Glitzy rough, but rough. The atmosphere is somewhere between Vegas and Tijuana. It's always clean and in the summer the air conditioning rivals that of the arctic. The service is great and the bartender/waitresses are always there with a smile (and beautiful ample cleavage). I especially like the peanuts they offer you which is a real throw back to the old days, I guess, when most bars did that. It really makes for a rarely seen hospitible environment. Also, the craziest thing I've ever seen in a bar, if you'd like they will bring out a dish of whatever homemade food they are offering that day, FOR FREE! It changes daily, there is chicken soup, beef soup, shrimp soup, tacos, etc. It makes no sense how they can make money with such cheap drink prices and a special they always have: a beer with an added shot of tequila for only $1!! The owner Pepe is always there with a friendly hello and say hi to Daisy and Lillie. Lots of locals but hurry before all the hipsters find it!
Best drink prices in town! – The picture is really old. Its the best place in echo park. A beer and shot for $8!!!!
I would go there any time, including lunch time!
Horrible customer service. – not the friendliest environment. the drinks are horrible and the service is worse.
i would not recommend this place to anyone!
Echo Park dive bar offers local flavor and potent cocktails at a modest price. – It's a narrow room, garishly lit in red neon and green Christmas lights. Its leather booths suggest a restaurant, but the popcorn machine and maudlin atmosphere make it clear that this is a strictly classic dive bar. The crowd is almost entirely of 30-something males. The regulars can sometimes seem territorial at first, but the sweet-natured women behind the bar put anyone at ease. The jukebox plays everything from cumbia music to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Most folks are hardcore regulars, but for the occasional hipster who wanders in, the attraction to stick around is three-fold: cheerful bartenders, potent drinks and the ridiculously eclectic jukebox, which offers a cross-section of new and old Latin music with a smattering of ABBA and Bobby Darin.
