One of the best Mexican restaurants in LA. Mole that just won't quite and house-made sopas. Always add the Oaxacan string cheese!

Easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city, and certainly tops among Oaxacan spots. The moles are fantastic, as is the mezcal program.

Authentic Oaxacan food. A variety of delicious moles on the menu; if you're feeling adventurous be sure to order the grasshoppers.

Yummy! – This is the Mexican food you don't find at regular Mexican restaurants. It has more caribbean influence. I love Oaxacan food and Guelaguetza does not dissappoint.

classic Oaxacan – This Guelaguetza is larger than the one on 8th St. and their menu is more extensive. The Tamal Oaxaqueno is one of my favorites at either location - a huge banana leaf wrapped corn masa tamale filled with unctuous mole negro and chunks of chicken. All the moles are great. There are many regional dishes here that are different from what many usually associate with Mexican food. BTW, I love the crickets (they're crunchy).

Guelaguetza, Food will Get Ya – Very Delicious Food, excellent service, great location, lovely music and atmosphere, pricing is down to earth and overall, a great place to dine, whether breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a quick snack. Enjoy your meal here, I know I do.

Too Loud To Enjoy – The entertainment was good, but too loud to yell into the ear of the person sitting next to you. The food was good, but the staff was horrible. Waiting for every little thing made me never want to come back.

I'll be back! – I've only been here once but I'll definitely be back. I've never had mexican food like this, it was outstanding. There's a definite taste and style to this food that really sets it apart from every "mexican" place I've ever been to. I got the Pechuga de Pollo and when I go back I'll be torn between getting that again or trying something new. I didn't think it was pricey at all.

A slice of heaven from the Gods. – Oh for the love of all things mole. I love this place. No joke, I didn't like the taste of mole...that is of course until I came to this joint. I had their Tamale plate and it was so good. The masa on the tamale was just a tad sweet, mixed with mole and the tender chicken...oh was I in heaven. Their horchata was the yummiest thing. I've had the traditional kind with the vanilla, but this stuff had pieces of melon and nuts....oooooh soooo good. The place was bright and clean and the prices were cheap. This is THE place to go around Wilshire for some good ol' Oaxacan food.

Highly recommend this place – This joint is GOOD! I had the Chicken Tamale wrapped in gigantic banana leaves with Black Mole sauce. Thinking about the complex flavors in the mole make me wanna go back for some more. Also try the Empanada with the red moles sauce. It's light and delicious.

Chocoholic's paradise – The red mole is delicious--tasty mix of sweet and smoky. I was a little disappointed in the empanada ... try the zucchini blossom and cheese filling instead of chicken. Before you leave, browse through the mini-market in the front of the store. Take some mole or a pan dulce home with you.

Mole to Die For – Eating at Guelaguetza was only my second time having mole and now I get it. The layers of flavor--sweet, spicy, smoky--knocked me out. Even the nachos they put out, covered in a peanutty sauce with bits of Cotija sprinkled on top, were out of this world. I have told all my friends about this place. The horchata is the best I've ever had; bits of cactus, fruit and nuts are mixed in for an absolutely delicious result. Speaking Spanish doesn't hurt, but the staff is so friendly and helpful that you'll manage if you don't speak it. They also have a little section in the front where you can buy packets of mole, Mexican chocolate and pottery. Great place.

Holy Mole! – One bite and I'm hooked. I tried the black mole chicken and it was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the pork in the red mole sauce. Again, very delicious. Even the chips they serve before the meal have a special twist (they're topped with light sauce and bits of cheese).

It's a good mix of people: singles, couples, families, everyone. They speak minimal English, but I found it a fun place to practice my minimal Spanish.

I heard a rumor that they had fried grasshoppers of some sort, but I didn't see any on the menu. My only regret is that I didn't know you could BYOB. Next time.
