My experience was very similar to Bree's.
I have lived at Green Valley 2 separate times. The first time I lived there, the only issue I had were most of my neighbors were psychotic convicts and boot camp rejects, since they do not do any sort of background check there. The first night I was there, my across the hall neighbor, a handicapped woman in her 40's in a wheelchair, was flipped over by her son's crazy friend. Other than that, I had 1 good neighbor, any my experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good.
After venturing to 2 other apartments, I returned to Green Valley due to financial problems, and that was all I could afford at the time. This last time was the absolute WORST living experience I have EVER had! My air went out, and it took them a week and a half to fix it. It was so hot and humid we could not stay in our apartment, so my boyfriend, the cats and I had to stay at our parents' houses. The first maintenance man who came to look at the air conditioning unit spoke BARELY ANY ENGLISH and called me 6 TIMES not understanding what apartment number I was telling him. I had to go outside and flail my hands around to get his attention to direct him to the correct unit. The office staff was rude when I told them about the air being broken. They did not care that it irritated mine and my boyfriend's medical conditions to the point that we could not stay there.
The office staff COULD be worse. They are generally nice as long as you pay your rent on time and don't confront them with how much their maintenance sucks. Even if you politely disagree with them, they get rude and defensive.
A few times, we could not make full rent and they were kind in helping make arrangements, so I do have to give them that.
But even that can't make up for the last part I am about to write about in this review. Our downstairs neighbors had bedbugs, and when they moved out, the bugs moved into our apartment. Lisa accused me of bringing them into the building and told me I should feel fortunate that they are not making me pay for the removal of the bugs. The removal of the bugs is a joke. After they "treated" the apartment, we were still finding bugs. They told me that I didn't have an "infestation" in my apartment, but I have paperwork from the extermination company saying there was. They tried to act like it wasn't a big deal, but it was. We had to throw away our mattress and our couch. Several of my clothes were ruined in an attempt to wash everything in one day at the laundromat, which alone cost about $200. It also caused extreme anxiety, paranoia, panic attacks, high blood pressure and depression. It was an extremely traumatic event and they were absolutely apathetic to the whole thing. It was terrible.
I would not recommend living here at all. If you absolutely must because you cannot afford anywhere else, please, to save your sanity, purchase a bed bug proof mattress encasement and put your clothes in plastic bins rather than hanging them up, to take per caution.
Green Valley is SO notorious for having bed bugs, that the current apartment I am staying at REQUIRES ANYONE COMING FROM GREEN VALLEY, WHETHER THEY HAD AN INFESTATION OR NOT TO HAVE THEIR BELONGINGS SNIFFED/INSPECTED BY A BED BUG SNIFFING DOG!
Apparently, Bree and I aren't the only ones. Don't become a victim.
POOR MANAGMENT – I was 8 months pregnant when our neighbor had 4 cases of bed bugs. They started pouring in through our wall and I called corperate and Sue gave me a hard time for wanting to change apartments. Lisa in the office is VERY rude and has actually hung up on me when I was calling because it was 96 degrees in my house. It took them over a week to fix my air while I had a 5 month old sweating her butt off and they cared less. Then when I call corperate Sue calls me a liar. Also they have this little pool that I would not reccommend going in because they allow people to smoke and drink in the pool. I went there one tiome with my daughter and there were girls making out with eachother and taking eachothers tops off. Very trashy. If it werent for the horrible management and corperate we would stay here, but we have now found a place that actually cares and will supply the services we pay in our rent, unlike green valley.
Living Cheap – You get what you pay for, you can take that in a good way or bad way, though I like it here, and I've never had a problem. This is my second time living in Green Valley Apartments.
budget living, not quite the best deal for the money – Its a decent place, the cupboards are made from rotting particle board. had staff come in and "tighten" the draws several times until they eventually turned to dust. the refrigerator seemed new, but both rails on the door broke off. our neighbors have children playing in front of our windows, which like the person above said is completely reasonable. but these kids where not being watched at all, they stole a coin jar out of one of my bedroom windows. i generally like kids so this was not that big of a deal. my neighbors for the most part where tolerable and respectful. except one, who would blast music to the point where i couldn't here my own tv. they would be up at 3am screaming and slamming doors there are no lights in any bedroom or living room but they do have switched outlets. the doors all fell apart over the time of my one year stay. basicly everything is crumbling and broken after one year. this is definitely a budget rent, better deals can be found, but the area is fairly nice being close to both lakeside and partridge creek, two gas stations on the corner and kroger not a mile away . meaning no messing around in the heavy hall road traffic for a quick grocery run. if your not a criminal check out lakeside village, just down the street. much better in every aspect and only slightly more expensive.
I Hate this place.!!!!( I can't stand this) – i lived in green valley for 2 years and when my children go out side and play the neighbors complaned they say there where making to much noise when it was day time so they can't play out side or in side. and they made us pay like 10 or 20 dollars because they blamed our childern on painting this thing i forgot what it was and they didn't even do it .and i for got somthing when my cheldren play out side the manager just stares at them like if they where going to do somthing bad like rob a place(I dont recomend you rent this place even thoe its cheap rent some where else)
not good – i lived in my apt for a year and i have had maintaince come out several times to fix a mold problem. they painted over it and thought it would fix the prob. the mold kept coming back and they kept painting over it. i found more mold areas and water damage on the walls. they promised me they would replace the mold covered windows and never did. i have a 6 yr old son who got sick because of the mold. i told maintaince about all the mold and water damage and they did nothing. i called the bldg dept and talked to an attorney. i wold not recomend that place to ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
