Unethical liars. A good friend of ours recommended this mover for our short, in-city move and we were both utterly surprised with the result. First, when the owner arrived to do an inspection of our previous location to give us a quote he stated multiple time how proud he is of he quotes as he is always within 10%. He even gave some examples (true or not I don't know) where he was within $10. I was called in the morning on the day of the move asking if it would be OK to send an extra person with the crew as he had another job cancel and said the extra person would ultimately save me money because the move would be faster. When the movers arrived only half of the team was on time, yet ultimately I was charged for the full time as he bills by crew by hour.

Phil, one of the two move supervisors on my job, told me multiple times over the course of the loading that he runs his team to save money, he had moved someone recently with a similar amount of stuff and saved them over $100, and that with the extra guy he would definitely keep us under the quote from Jim. Great, I thought at the time as I like saving money and certainly like staying within my limited budget even more.

At the end of the unloading, all of the crew took off including Phil and only two guys remained to close out the bill and get my check. To my great surprise, the bill was 30% OVER the quote! Without Phil around I was unable to question anything and tried to call Jim for answers. Needless to say, he was unreachable.

The next day I called Jim to complain and was told to hold on so he could research my quote, bill and contact the move supervisor. When he called me back to explain the overage in charge he spewed a long series of lies he was (I assume) supplied by Phil regarding the long move time - even with the six guys. "I was not available most of the time to tell them where to put things, my wife asked them to move the furniture around multiple times because she could not make up her mind, we had too much stuff, my boxes we packed too heavy, my house was difficult to navigate, all of my furniture had to be disassembled and reassembled, etc." ALL of which were lies, which I told to Jim who completely blew me off. When I asked about the huge discrepancy between his quote and the actual price he said I must have added things after he had visited - like furniture just suddenly appeared - and then restated the same lies! At the end of our 30 minute conversation he would not budge and kept spewing the same lies to explain his stance.

I do not recommend this company, nor the supervisors as they are liars who profit from underbidding to get you in the door, charging huge extra amounts and then lying about the reason for the difference. They are obviously not interested in repeat customers nor referral business nor customer service. Two thumbs down.

Awful experience. They were 2+ hours late. When we asked why they were late, we received 3 separate reasons. When we spoke with the owner Jim on the phone about the severely late arrival and asked what he was going to do to make it right, he said that they would not provide us with any form of discount, it wasn't their problem. Lastly, they dropped a piece of framed sport memorabilia, shattering the glass case. We found the entire experience distasteful; the staff could not get their stories straight as to why they late, which reeked of dishonesty, and Jim the owner refused to accept any accountability or offer any form of compensation for our inconvenience.

What a Pleasure! I just moved last weekend. I needed to move on the fly and could not offord to pay much for a move. Not only did Hewelt's go out of there way to work within my tight budget but they were, fast careful and pleasant to work with. The best thing was the move came under what was quoted and i was not charged a penny more than I expected to. Thanks guys for all your help.

I thought Hewelt's did a great job, and I will definately be using them for any future moves I might have. At the time of my move I was pregnant, and in no way prepared for my move. They completely packed and unpacked the entire contense of my house in one day. In addition to that they also dissassembled and reassembled all my furniture at my request. Having Hewelt's do my move was a load off my mind and completely stress free. Thanks guys for making this such a pleasant experience!

Fantastic service and very affordable prices. I used Hewelt Moving to move me into my last house. What a dream. They packed and moved everything and not a single scratch, broken item or even a damaged box. Nothing. It was entirely perfect, saved my back and they moved everything exactly where I asked.

I was EXTREMELY pleased with their service and pricing. Will definitely use them again in the future !

not good. an employee named aaron hecksel is refusing to stop calling my girlfriend.hes a stalker and i hope ur company is smart enough to realize that its not safe to send a person like this to deliver things!

Very unprofessional and unethical. My wife contacted this company and received a quote to move us from Rochester Hills, Michigan to Round Rock, Texas. They suggested that she buy the insurance and were very courteous up to the point where the truck loaded up and left Rochester Hills.

When the driver showed up in Texas, he was rude and impatient. He refused to unload anything until she paid him first. Once she paid him he rushed to unload the truck and was impatient putting pressure on her to approve everything. He never checked each tag as he unloaded, just proceeded to stack things all over the house and into the garage.

When he was finished she pointed out some things that were missing and broken. He took a note and left. Nothing happened. Later that day we discovered that two $500 bikes were not unloaded. Several phone calls, emails and a trip back to Royal Oak to personally talk to them with no results.

They kept my bikes (cause I don't have them) and a few items of my wifes clothing and never honored the insurance. No effort was made to help me get the items that were missing. After 9 months of trying, I have given up. I am posting this in hopes that I can prevent someone else from a bad experience.

Worked Through Issues. The owner Jim provided a capped estimate.

I agreed in advance that all payment would be made on my American Express. My belongings were in storage with them for 7 months. Two days before the move into my new house, they told me that I would have to pay cash. I was shocked to hear this. Visibly upset, Jim worked with me and through conversation; I now understand the new policy.

A characteristic of a good company is doing good work. A characteristic of a great company is one who solves issues, works through them, and at the end of the day and at any cost, makes the customer experience as positive as it could be.

Jim did a good job of working with me. The moving crew was professional, clean, and courteous.

You couldn’t ask for a better company to do such a daunting and overwhelming task.

Pleasant expierence. The movers were on time and finished the job without anything damaged. The estimator was a little off, the price was actually cheaper then quoted, that doesn't happen very often.

good move. I liked how the company gave me a free in -house quote. The price was competitive and they did not break anything. I would use this company again even though i hate to move.
