BBQ? YEA RIGHT. I HAVE HEARD THE MUSIC IS GOOD. BUT THE FOOD, WELL THEY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO SMOKE FOOD. AND FOR BEING A BBQ PLACE, THERE SAUCE IS TERRIBLE. KETCHUP WITH VINEGAR . THE COLE SLAW WAS BAD FLAVORLESS, AND SO WERE THE BEANS. TIME TO START OVER, GET RID OF THE CHEF. WE ORDERED 5 BONE RIBS, AND EACH OF US ONLY GOT 4!!! GUESS THE OWNER IS MAKING SO MUCH MONEY HE DOESN'T CARE. HE MUST OWN A COUPLE OF THE OTHER OLDER PLACES IN TOWN. BUT THE WAITRESS WAS GREAT.
Blues and BBQ joint brings southern dining to Royal Oak..
In Short
Long lines are common on weekends, and the Southern theme radiates throughout the wide-open dining area, with striking black-and-white photos of Memphis hung high on the walls. Barbecued pork ribs are the specialty, with wet and dry-rub choices available. For those that like spice, try the jambalaya. Blues and a smattering of rock acts take the stage nightly, making Memphis Smoke a lively, as well as lip-smacking, nightlife destination.
Good place. The food was really good. I had the ribs and my husband had the chicken and it was winderful. I would recommend this place to any one. The Band was also great.
Awesome Music!. We went here for the music and had drinks and dessert as well. The band that night was incredible!! (The Glen Eddy Band). Next time we visit Michigan, we're definitely going back!
I will not visit Memphis Smoke again. This was the third and last time I will visit Memphis Smoke. The waitress was inattentive, took a long time, forgot things and did not serve all the food at once. The quesadilla I ordered was burned black! I can't believe food was brought to the table in that condition! No one else at the table was happy with their food. When the waitress finally brought my quesadilla back out it looked fine until I turned it over - it was burned black again! In fact, it looked like the same one except just turned over. When I pointed it out she said, "Can I show it to the manager or are you still eating it?" You have to be kidding! Additionally, we asked for a non-smoking table and the table right next to us had two ridiculous chain smokers. We will never eat there again!
Smoked up Blues and chumpy ribs!.
MS is the place if you like limited menu of barbequed food.Almost all is great. The chicken is nice, just right, the ribs delicious, steak is great-best tasting steak for less than $20 around. Daisy Mae's Fish-Chips is pretty good. The Gumbo (or jambalaya?) is average, not spicy enough; if you want to add in shrimp, dont! Unless you feel that paying extra for 3 over-cooked chewers is acceptable.Pasta? Yep, and it is good! Vegerations: don't bother; there is not a lot for you here!
If you have kids, (~over 5yr olds) go for it. Portions are great, reccomend the fish-chips or ribs. Particularly if you don't mind your kids having sauce all over their faces.
Pretty good selectection of beers available; taps seem kept ok too.
Service: No issues, always seated fast, recieved a good reception.
Tip:Don't turn into a sports bar.Turn down tv and play blues.
Average joint that is highly overrated. The atmosphere is the only thing this place has going for them. The food sounds great on the menu, but it was incredibly mediocre (and they took forever to come out with it). I've been twice. Both times we were seated promptly and then just as promptly ignored by the hostess and waitress. The service was terrible! The second visit our hostess was pretty rude to us because we wanted a booth (two of us arrived together, one came later). If you want good BBQ look elsewhere. If you want to mingle and chat and you don't care about the food, this is your place.
rrrribs done right.
This is a fun eatery. It attracts a very diverse crowd that has only one thing in common: a love of barbeque. The main dining room is loud, even when the ubiqutious band isn't mashing the sound out, so don't think of this place as a dater's dream.
Because I'm a creature of habit, I always order the dry rubbed ribs. Never been disappointed. Companions I've taken have been more adventurous, and rave about the wet ribs, pulled pork sandwich, and jambaylia. I'm a repeater here for lunch & dinner. Chances are, if you give this place a try, you will become one too.
Great Food. I love this place, especially now that I've discovered the upstairs deck! The food selection was good - the jambalaya great. Sitting outside was wonderful, but if we hadn't been able to find a table away from the bar we would have been blasted out by the music. Prices were great for the food too.
Food and Fun. Just plain terrific barbecue. Add you just have to love a place with Osama Bin Laden's picture in the urinals.
