Food ok,wait staff terrible. My neighbor told me about boodles,so I thought I would take my wife there, what a mistake! The food was alright but our waitress, was not very nice.We ordered a dip for an appetizer, our waitress walked about 10 feet from us to another table, when she came back towards us we ask to change our appetizer, she said she already put the order in,we both new she wasn't being honest. So guess what?NO TIP and I would never go there again!
Off night or just bad?. Finally had a chance to have dinner at Boodles and was VERY disappointed. Poor service and one of the worst meals I have had in years. Maybe it was just an off night but I doubt it. The waitress was borderline rude when one of the party told her their meal was too salty. The kitchen replied "their just not use to it". Being a salt lover I tried it and it was way too salty. The place is tired and needs a overhaul. I don't think I will give this place a second chance. Boodles is a fail for me.
Hidden Treasure. My husband and I decided to try this place because it was highly recommended by several friends and we were not disappointed. It is a small restaurant so the tableside is prepared off to the side but it is still extremely visable and entertaining. The restroom sign that the other reviewer was obessed with is a good eight feet away from the actual restrooms which are behind a wall seperating them completly from the dining room. We had the cesear salad, steak stewart, salmon st james, tirimisu and a bottle of delicious carmenere, a wine not often found. Everything was fantastic, the best ceasar i have ever had hands down. The service was impecable, we felt like we were the only table and it was a friday night! We will be back often, highly reccomended
Boodles Rocks. To the loser who wrote that long review, you were not in a year ago. This review has been here for years. Get a life!!!
Tableside Service?.
Our server suggested tableside Caesar Salad & Steak Diane. Said that if we ordered the salad that was not prepared tableside, it would come with pre-made dressing. Decided to have the presentation, freshness & monitoring of ingredients (we love anchovy, not too much garlic, extra cheese). Imagine our surprise as we see a salad being tossed in an alcove under the RESTROOM sign! Told server we were stunned & did not consider this tableside service! She whispered to the preparer then placed salads in front of us. We were blown away by amount of garlic & sogginess of lettuce. We struggled to eat it, eyes watered, throats burned & we could not finish. Server asked how we liked the salad. I said "I don't like that it was prepared by the RESTROOM as we had ordered tableside. " She said that the owner would prepare our Steak Diane, tableside.
Here comes Bruno with a plate displaying steaks & ingredients to add. Explained how he was going to prepare our meal, then walked under the RESTROOM sign and started cooking our entree! Again, I told the server this was inappropriate, not what we ordered & we were extremely unhappy about our food prepared by a RESTROOM. She said the owner did it that way and that she had no say.
Bruno then asked how we liked our steaks. I asked him about the preparation and he said, "it's too busy to prepare tableside (there were 3 empty tables between us & the RESTROOM), it's too dangerous (?), we don't do that on Friday (!), the menu says 'when available' (it does not) and he was sorry if we were offended." Well, we were offended, greatly.
The steak was extremely overspiced and not enjoyable. The steaks had been peppered to death. Which is not a part of Steak Diane. This cost us over $60 and our mouths were on fire! Needless to say, we will not be returning to this joint.
I had heard that this place treats their customers special. We did not feel special. We felt like we had been taken.
great music. The music is great. This is the place you go if you are looking for a drink and music. I have eaten there about 4 times, the first time was good, then it went down hill from there. portions got smaller and service was terrible. Would not eat there again.
great place. This is a great spot if your looking for someplace cozy and romantic to impress a date. The food is great as is the service. A little expensive, but well worth it.
WENT HOME HUNGRY. I meant to find a romantic place to entertain company from out of town. We had to find our own seating in the outdoor section. We had to ask for menus. Service was slow. Drink orders were forgotten. Everyone can have a bad night, but you can tell a lot by how it is addressed. The waitress was distracted and seemed annoyed by her own ineptitude. When the "medium rare" filet finally arrived it was medium well and tasteless. Again the waitress was annoyed when I chose to cancel the order. The manger I asked to speak to was defensive and rude. He stated that the steak was cooked to the retauant atandard of medium rare which was absurd. The filet center was barely pink and the overall quality of the filet was poor.
Secret Pleasure In Madison Heights.
This food is gourmet-type food. It is always exquisite. They have the best raspberry vinaigrette I have ever had anywhere - with lumps of real raspberries.
They prepare table-side Steak Diane, Chateau Briand and Caesar Salad. Although the restaurant is small, it is very romantic, with a piano, and great drinks, service and food. GO!!!!
Outstanding.
I travel 30 miles one way just to go to Boodles. I have never been to restaurant with a nicer atmosphere. Another reason I go back is the service. They have the bset wait staff of any eatery I have ever been too. And I can't say enough about the food.
P.S. Try the oysters on the half shell. The best.
