Love It and Hate It – I love the burgers. I hate the wait, the too close together tables, and no room anywhere at all to stand/sit and wait for a table because its always insanely overcrowded. Not to mention that if you got a table in the bar you are most likely eating your burger with someones rear end in your face. Oh and did I mention the screaming hostess who trolls through the bar endlessly calling out for people who are no longer there because they put their name on the list and then left. Why won't you please just expand? The burgers are awesome and I crave them. Last time we decided we'd do an early bird special and get there around 5:30pm on a Saturday night so there would not be a long wait. We were so wrong. There was a 75 minute wait and absolutely no where to wait for a table. So we left and ate elsewhere much to my dismay.
Dependable dining – Can't go wrong on Woodward, busy and at times too busy, erratic service but enjoyable. good salads and fish and chips, hamburger in top ten
Great burgers – The staff wass great , the burger was cooked just right and we didnt have to go far. My friends and I had a great time, we were probably the loudest group in there but we had the most fun.
disappointed – I have heard such good things about this place that I thought we would try it out. Called 45 minutes ahead to put our name in and we still have to wait 20 minutes when we got there. My burger was undercooked and it was too crowded. We were so close to the people next to us that we couldn't even have a private conversation. The service was good considering how busy it was. We definitely will not be eating there again. I have had better burgers...I think this place is over rated.
good food, and beer – Wait wasn't bad because of a good crowd. Try the smoked beer. Good atmospere and our service was actually very good.
The only place for a Burger! – What's left to say! Red Coat has to serve the biggest and best tasting burger in and around town. The only negative thing that I can say about it is that it's too popular.......always crowded. Oh, and the booth seating is too-tight. Other than that...the "Palace of Burgers."
Best Burgers Around! – Ok, so you may have to wait an hour to get seated but it's worth it. The burgers are awesome, along with their onion rings. Service is actually really good considering the amount of people they pack in there. Parking is a bit of a problem. They do let you call ahead and put your name on the wait list if you're on your way. They do not take formal reservations though. Carry-Out is a good way to go too. I've taken advantage of it often and have no complaints. I wish they had a separate window around back though to pick it up instead of having to go through the restaurant and weave your way around all the people. Atmosphere inside is good. It's a little cozy because they pack as many as they can get in and it can be a little loud at the peak times. One thing that baffles me is that they are not open on Sunday's. Oh well, Redcoat is a great place that has awesome burgers and I will go back again and again.
Well worth it – Best burger in the world as far as I'm concerned. No complaints about service or hostesses. Bartenders are great, people watching (while you wait) is excellent. I'm going there tonite. I'd pay for a table.
The Red Lights Just Don't Bother Me – GREAT burgers -- and everyone who says the red-lit atmosphere is weird needs to chill. It doesn't offend me. Whenever I go in there I crave another Red Coat burger for a month. Everything else I've tried, from the clam chowder to the blackened tilapia sandwich, tasted wonderful as well.
If you want fast food, Burger King is right next door. If you want good food, just call ahead and take 30+ minutes you'll have to wait for a table to actually TALK with your family or friends. Who knows? You might find you still have something to say to eachother after all this time.
Another vote for a fabulous burger – I find myself craving their burgers all the time. The onion rings and fried mushrooms are also great. Long wait on the weekends and no reservations, but you can do call-ahead seating. It's often difficult to find parking in their tiny lot, but usually you can find a spot on one of the side streets and walk. You'll be so stuffed when you leave that you could probably use the exercise anyways.
