Eh.. It was pretty fun, but I feel like I deserve to be talked to as an equal. I was with a birthday party and I had plenty of money to spend and there were plenty of us girls. I may or may not go back and give it another chance.
Luna is amazing. The staff is nice, the music is great, cheap to no cover, awesome specials, free pizza. I've never seen so many happy people on the dance floor.
Unreasonable disrespectfull management.
At first when I got to Luna I thought I was in heaven and can breathe now. This is indeed alternative club with a lot of friendly customers. However, after going there for the last two years it seems that I won't come back nor would advice anyone to go there.
Here is the reason! One Saturday, almost a month ago I got to Luna with my friend and in less than one hour manager Lee came to me and asked me to leave. I did nothing wrong and have never been kicked out of the club before. I'm 35 and have been through many many clubs. That guy Lee gave me no reason at all. He said "people were complaining about me" which was a complete lie because I was dancing all that time ALONE. Noone was even close to me on the dance floor because it was around 10pm.
Also, when I told to Lee I have to get my friend he didn't believe me. He told that I should leave and he will look for my friend himself, which he didn't!
Lastly, I've tried to leave several voice mails at Luna club phone, then left two messages with their staff asking Lee to call me back. He never did. So, it's still a mystery folks. Makes me wonder if he's high or what?
Regardless, I've never experienced such disrespect like form that guy and feel that it's not worth it to go there again.
P.S. When I've been talking to my friends few of them said they've heard other stinky stories about Luna as well, like when a girl was kicked out just because she was crying because her bf told her they're finished; and the guy was kicked out because somebody from the staff didn't like his hair style! What's up with that?!?!
Anyways, watch out ppl. I won't recommend Luna at all.
Best (only?) 80's dance in the burbs but DON"T ask to see your bill whatever you do!. We have gathered large groups of friends to go to Luna pretty regularly since it was 3D. The music is adequate (same old 80's & 90's tunes) but fun. We made the mistake of asking for our tab (the itemized one) which was a very reasonable amount. Our mostly absentee waitress refused & got really ticked that we asked. She had us escorted out by 4 bouncers! (we were obviously leaving anyway)! Not so nice, in fact, very, very weird. Think she was having a bad night and maybe somebody else had accused her of padding the tab????? Strange. The music is not so great that we want to deal with that weirdness.
Behind a bland exterior, a hot club for feverish dancing..
Feel the beat, taste the sweat. Strobe lights, black lights and spotlights cut through the dark interior. Racy psychedelic murals of women shoot out from the walls. The music pounds much louder than at an average bar, so conversation tends to be minimal. Heavy smoke from machines and cigarettes create a thick haze. Drink specials are offered nightly. Tuesdays feature $1 drink until midnight. Various nights throughout the week alternative between dance, electro-industrial and retro-goth tunes.
Luna - Best Alternative Club. I love Luna. I've been going there for years - too long to mention - before it was Luna and even when it was called 3D. It's a great club to dance or to just have a few drinks. The regular crowd is pretty heavy into the alternative scene, but its a welcoming atmosphere no matter what your taste (as long as you have an open mind and are as welcoming as the regulars). It's Ok to go there alone or with others. There are different, but related, themes each night. Hot bartenders too.
Away from the mainstream (a hidden treasure).
I think I've found my new favorite club! LUNA has the BEST music for dancin' and a great vibe (Feng Shui?). Even though the bar gets packed, there are still places to sit... comfy couches by the pool tables, cocktail tables and -- if you get there early enough -- you might snag a "spinny booth" or the "Mafia booth"!
The best part about the dancefloor is you won't get molested like at a booty bar! The drinks are cheap (especially on Tuesdays!) and plenty strong. The waitresses, bartenders and dancers are HOT, and everyone here is cool. Its a good place for people watching... mainstream or alternative, anything goes!
LUNA is off the main "strip" in Royal Oak, but it's better that way... it's right across the street from the Coney at 12 Mile so if you have too much to drink you walk over there and sober up!
