Overpriced, Terrible Food, Excellent Wait Staff. First came the appetizer, Calamari. I have to tell you I'm accustomed to the lightly breaded fried Calamari served with a dipping sauce on the side. However, at this restaurant they served the fried squid in a plate of tomatoes, capers, lemon juice and herbs. This was an okay appetizer at best. Too much lemon, under-fried squid, and soggy from having been served in-sauce.

I order the fried catfish with a side of redskin potatoes. The fish was way over-breaded and also overcooked. It had absolutely zero flavor and was inedible unless dipped in the tartar sauce. The redskin potatoes were seasoned (very lightly) with chopped parsley, and nothing else. Probably just microwaved the potatoes and served them.

My wife ordered the vegetarian pasta and ate only a few bites. It was too salty and the noodles were overcooked.

For dessert we had the "Chocolate Nemesis". A cake made with three layers of chocolate. This was somehow bland and lacked the rich chocolate flavor you would expect . On a positive note this was the only dished served with any sense of presentation. All the other dishes were very thrown together.

Add a coffee and diet coke and the bill came to $52.

The only thing worth paying for was the wait staff. She was very courteous and had a positive demeanor. She made great suggestions and was genuinely working to make us happy.

Unfortunately this is not enough for a restaurant to survive. We will not be returning.

Great Food;nice"island"atmosphere,friendly staff!!!. I visit my aunt in St. Clair Shores,Mi. about every 3 to 6 weeks and we always go to Waves for either lunch or dinner. We have always had very good food; whether it be a pasta meal or a seafood meal or a steak meal; it has always been WONDERFUL. The staff are pleasant and very friendly. I will say that, on occasion, our waitress(server) was busy with another table; but we have never had a time that someone else that works there won't answer our question or maybe give us more water. I would reccomend WAVES to anyone; my experiences there have always been GREAT. And the only reason I don't give them 5 stars is there may be room for improvement. Keep up the great job and both my aunt and myself hope you'se never leave!!!

LOUSY FOOD FOR THE MONEY. WENT TO WAVES ON 02/04/09 TO CELEBRATE MY DAUGHTER'S RETURN HOME FROM AFGHANISTAN. THE WAITRESS WAS FRIENDLY AND STEERED US AWAY FROM A COUPLE OF DINNER CHOICES WE WERE CONTEMPLATING. THERE WERE 5 IN OUR PARTY AND WE ORDERED 5 DIFFERENT DINNERS. ALL WERE MEDIOCRE, TO SAY THE LEAST. FROM THE LUKE WARM SHRIMP, TO THE OVER COOKED CHEWY TALAPIA, TO THE TASTELESS SCALLOPS. THE DIRTY RICE SHOULD BE RE-NAMED "DRY TASTELESS RICE". IT WAS MY DAUGHTERS CHOICE TO GO THERE.....WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING...EVER!

Good Value - Good Food. The food is great. Very good fish dinners. I've eaten here many times. Also, if you sit at the bar they have $1 pints of beer all the time, which adds to the value. The bad parts are that the bar is kind of smoking, and sometimes they play loud rap music, which is very annoying. In fact, I've walked in, and walked out disappointed, because of the loud rap music.

couldn't wait to leave. Hard to get service. Very tight small dance area and just being inside the club, which made it hard to get drinks and such. And creepy older people there, which is odd to see that drastic of a mixture of ages.

this place is awesome. had a party for 25 people on a friday the food and service was the best would recommend this place to everyone our server was danielle she was great and the food was outstanding this place has become one of our favorite places on the nautical mile . to bad you could,nt pick this place up and put it on top of jacks waterfront so they could be on the lake.already booked another party for December.the dj tommy holiday was alot of fun too.

The worst overly rated restaurant in St. Clair Shores. Oh you don't want to even try this place. My family of ten went there last night and what was supposed to be a celebration turned out to be a total disaster. Our waitress was so inept. Didn't bring water when we asked and never brought it throughout the meal. She had no problem bringing us cocktails though. Waves special salad was a joke. Lettuce,nuts and cheese with a sickly sweet dressing. That was our only choice. No other dressings available. My perch was awful over breaded and tasteless. My wife and cousin ordered the $18.99 ribeye steak. They complained about the meat to our waitress and she ignored them. When told a second time she took the steak away and brought my wife a free appetizer coupon. That was adding insult to injury. My wife was furious. She asked to speak to the manger and no one knew his name. How can these people be in business? As I was about to get in the car the waitress ran out to say the manager was in front and I could talk to him. Hmmmmmmm! He looked like a kid and just said I'm sorry you were so unhappy. Oh, I forgot to mention. We had two checks for two parties of five and the waitress had the gall to add her tip of $20.00, of which we still paid. What a shame. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money.

Best place to go on the nautical mile. This has to be the best place they have great food, great service and a good time all in one place. I went their on a tuesday when they have half off martini's they excellent. The band they have rocks!!! I had a great time I will definately go back.

Avoid this place!. Went last night for the first time in years, the band was terrible and the crowd was trash. Don't spend your money here, someone needs to pick this bar up and dump it into a trailer park somewhere, that's where it belongs. Probably won't be in business much longer though, dangerous crowd, I walked in on the bald headed bouncer doing lines with the band in the bathroom, also noticed some of the patrons carrying weapons, nice place, yea right.

Fun atmosphere. Great atmosphere, and awesome food! Service can be slow at times, but they are very nice and always seem to be happy to help you! Love going for a nice little dinner, or just a good relaxing night out on the town. If you want to go somewhere tropical, but can't afford to go to Hawaii or the Carribean, head on over to Waves!
