I only want to help..... I have been to greenwood from time to time. Usually just to buy brine shrimp for my fish. Every time I go, the place gets filthier.

I stopped in today. Besides the whole puppy mill thing (and responsible breeders DO NOT sell their puppies to brokers or pet stores...period), the animals are in terrible living conditions, the place stinks to high heaven, and several of the fish were extremely skinny. I stopped in to peek at kittens. They have signs posted..."Kitten prices-regular-$99, Black-$79, And Calico rare!-$129. I saw a cute little color point (similar to a siamese color pattern) that i was interested in. I asked to see it and they brought it out to me. They then proceeded to tell me that She was $300 because she was an egyptian mau. This breed of cat does not come with points, ever. Not even as kittens. . Nor do they have blue eyes, which this kitten did, along with subtle stripes-thus not a pure bred mau. I brought this to their attention and she tried to tell me they get more spots later. The Mau is born with spots. In other words, they are trying to sell a domestic shorthair (mixed kitten) for $300 as a pure bred (with no papers).

I have been working in the animal care field for 20 years and i think this deceit is horrible. Some poor person is going to pay that money thinking they have a rare spotted cat, when really they just bought a normal dsh.....That's fraud

By the way, I only gave a one star rating because it wouldn't let me put less.

Think Before You Write. Okay I can see there is alot of controversy over pet stores carrying puppies and some people have a right to worry and complaine. But before you go all hog wild and start a storm you need to really know what you are talking about.

I will agree alot of places have kids working there that dont know much about what they are selling, but there are places are devoted to the puppies and kittens in their care.

And people who say that "Reputable Breeders" dont sell to pet stores thats BS lets be honest about 90% of those breeders sell to a broker who in turn then sells them to a pet store. And those reputable breeders seem to do it for purly profit. NOW before you freak out there are Breeders who are exceptional believe me I have met some and they are outstanding.

As for the Greenwood front why is that people have no problem bashing it online but wont come into the store and say what they need to say? It does make me wonder that people are are tough behind a computer monitor the only thing you are accomplishing is trivial arguments with other internet people.

You want a change then go there and speak your mind.

As for your puppy that is a bad situation that you were in but do you take in account that when you bring a new puppy home, eather from a store or breeder they get stressed and in turn there immune system goes to hell and that is when they are suseptible to colds and other diseases is not properly taken care of.

Or when you get your new puppy do you know not to bring it everywhere under the sun? It does not have all of its vaccinations as of 8 or 9 weeks old its not old enough. And size no one can guarentee size all they can do it tell you an appoxamate size there are puppies that can get bigger then the parents or be realitivly smaller then the parents.

And I am sure with proper documentation of the puppy's ilness no one would refuse to help with the cost. ?

Again I dont know the whole situation I just see alot of bad nonsence being put out against Greenwood and I am sorry I have been in there and they are very nice and the puppies are very playful and happy and cared for no matter where they get them from ...maybe people should move on.

I know if I ever saw a horrible store In Michigan it would be .

"Family of pets" In the Oakland mall...you want to blow your horn and bash then go there the evidance is there you just have to look.

Not all breeders are what they seem remember that ...

Don't Buy a Puppy Here. What a cool store. That's the same thing I thought before I bought my puppy there. Well, first off, I had to take him to the veterinarian five times after I brought him home from there. He had severe kennel cough. I contacted Greenwood mgmt. by phone and in person about this and they refused to help me; they didn't care about the pup or my lost money. Incurred almost $700 in vet bills. That's ok, though, I recouped my money after I sued the dump. Second, they clearly don't work with breeders. My dog from there is American Eskimo/Maltese mix. They told me he would reach a maximum of 10 lbs. He's twenty lbs. Just beware, the dogs there; half of them are unhealthy.

puppy mills. PMA you are a dumb bitch you dont know what your talking about breeders work with everyone did i say moron now i did this person seems shady as hell to me any ways if you have a question and you want the right answer to it you go to greenwoods at 9 mile and grosbeck in warren or go to seashells at 11 mile and dequinder both owned by dennis and he jumps back-n-forth between the stores all day long also they have a huge selection of fish and plants etc.

best pet store around for miles and for many years to come. dont listen to anybody else. just go to the pet store and see how great it is for yourself. i have been going there for years and they never cease to amaze with all kinds of cool, rare, and unusual fish they have. this is the only pet store i will ever go to. dennis is a great guy and his employees are very knowledgeable in what they do. highly recommendable

awesome fish store. Great place to take kids! (I used to beg my parents to take me when I was young). They have about 5 large, friendly birds that talk to the customers. The owner, Dennis?, is usually there and loves to show off the birds and their tricks-he'll even let you hold one, if you dare. But I go there for the fish. Their selection of fresh and saltwater fish is second to none. Their many coral reefs are spectacularly colorful, almost hypnotic! They also have dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, spiders, birds, rodents, all kinds of reptiles, pond fish and plants, flowers, vegetable plants, even trees! If you need it, they either have it or will get it for you.

Puppy Mills. Remember reputable breeders do not work with pet stores. Buyer beware. This place smelled horrible and the it was a complete mess. There were animal cages sitting in strange places and no one was around. I was there for 10 mins and didn't see anyone. It was dark, not clean and looked unsafe for the animals. The bird cages were horrible. Once someone did see us, they decided to start cleaning the puppy cages. Something is not right about this store.

Worst Pet Store in the USA.. Please don't shop here. If you need more of an explanation, visit the store! They have been reported to the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
