Great find! – Wow, am I glad I found this place! My boyfriend and I went there recently on a busy Saturday night and still had a phenomenal experience!
Went on a Saturday (where the special was 1/2 off bottles of wine! Had an enthusiastic server/manager(?) recommend and let us taste a wine to choose).
Although the place was packed and the night was hot, the very friendly hostesses made sure to help us out. The manager even was there, helping anyone he could (the sign of a restaurant built on passion rather than business). On top of that, the almost chaos like busyness of the place didn't keep us waiting; if our waitress couldn't get to us, other waitstaff brought us food, made sure we were comfortable, etc., all of whom were incredibly friendly! Even with the busy time and wait for food, the endless baskets of deliciously garlicy bread and garlic butter tided us over. Our waitress told everything to us straight, too (even though waitstaff elsewhere may try and sell you anything regardless of their feelings just to get your business, she let us know what each desert tasted like, which of the specials was better even when the better dish was the cheaper one, etc.).
The food was excellent, though small (although, probably all the better... am I sounding like a fat American?) for the price. Still, prices aren't incredibly steep. Appetizers are fantastic, by the way! Desert choice is expansive, though only a few are made in house. Either way, I left the restaurant leaving full!
The atmosphere is nice, as well! The large restaurant is split into smaller rooms so that noise is not overpowering and I could hear my boyfriend across the table. One room has a toy train running around the ceiling which is cute, and live music played in one room (also not serving as loud). It's too bad the restaurant is in the more industrial section of Plymouth and not as close to downtown!
Overall, great food and EXCEPTIONAL service has me wanting to go back for more! Highly recommend!
Station 88 - In Plymouth, MI – I decided to try this place because I saw it as a deal on groupon com I bought a $35 coupon for $15 dollars. I bought two and was going to give it as a gift but after last nights experience I want it all for me.
We have our monthly date with my two boys and I thought this would be worth a try. The food was great. Service excellent and the boys loved it. If you sit in the room in the back you can see the real train go by and in the inner room they have a lionel train that goes around the ceiling. It is soooo cute. My boys were so well behaved and loved their meal. Can say enough about it. Please check this place out. The prices were not bad and it supports a local Michigan business. Both pluses in my book.
An amazing meal – The wait staff was extremly attentive. The bus help are some of the best I've seen (kudo's guys). I hate having dirty plates and these guys just swooped past and cleaned up. Very unobtrusive. Food was incredible. From the hot app to the cheesecake dessert I was not dissappointed. Will return often for a replay.
A great hidden neighborhood gem! – I discovered Station 885 in January. I love their cozy interior. The food is very good and priced right. They seem to have some special deal every time I go in there. I encouraged my daughter to have her baby shower at Station 885. She hasn't stopped thanking me for the suggestion. The food and service were excellent. The waitress that took care of the table I was seated at was the friendliest I have ever had. I have told many friends and family about the restaurant. I'm truly glad that I have discovered this hidden gem!
Worst customer service – After eating at this establishment for MANY years we had the worst service and management was no help.
We had our sons communion party there and the service was horrible, the staff complained about having to work, the room was not set up when we arrived, food was poorly prepared and the servers were mean to our guests. We have since stopped eating there and have recommended to ALL of our friends to pick another establishment if they want good service and good food. To top it all off our bill was over 1200 dollars!! We brought all these points up with the management and got nowhere...pick another establishment for a good meal and good service..it is NOT 885!
Good restaurant – Station 885 is a pretty good restaurant. I went here for brunch when I was visiting my family. I must say..it was pretty good. The restaurant was crowded and we had to wait a few minutes to get a seat, but it was worth it. I had a ham and cheese omelet, some of their fresh fruit, potatoes, some ham, and a strudel. All of the food was very good. I really want to return for dinner!
Here's one theme restaurant that doesn't get derailed. – In Short
Built on the site of an old train station, trains pass by very close to the big picture windows without creating the slightest disturbance. Miniature trains tootle around each dining room above people's heads and rail memorabilia is everywhere. It's a family kind of place with a bar. The straightforward menu offers fried appetizers followed by ribs, steak, chicken, pizza, seafood and pasta. Ravioli is spiced up with Italian sausage.
Excellent Entertainment - Beautiful Restaurant – Enjoy the jazz music of the Tony Ruda trio every Saturday from eight to midnight. The trio features 6-time Detroit Music Award winner Beth Stalker often; call ahead for details. Unfortunately, the restaurant varies the entertainment schedule often so that it can be difficult to predict who will be playing there.
Historic – We need more restaurants that give customers a little history. I not only visit this restaurant with my family, but have held many executive level dinner meetings here. The service, food, ambience and value is exquisite.
Scrumptious – The best steaks ever. The restaurant has a large crackling fireplace. Check it out. You'll come back for more.
