Bad experience at this salon. Very unprofessional, sloppy work. Would not recommend. – I have never written an online review before, however, I felt compelled to do so to share my experience and perhaps just vent a little! :-) I visited Salon 550 for a pedicure and was very disappointed by the service I received. The girl who gave my pedicure was also in the process of doing someone else's hair at the same time, so the whole service took an hour and 40 minutes! I was left soaking my feet while she rinsed out color from another client's hair, and then later with a mask on my feet while she cut AND blew dry/styled the same woman's hair. BTW... I know my feet are clean, but would YOU want someone touching your hair after they were working on someone else's feet? I know I wouldn't!!! Additionally, the mask used on my feet was self warming, which would have been okay except for the fact that it was a hot 85 degree August day. Not the best choice there... At the end of the pedicure, she found out her next appointment had arrived so she hurried through the nail polish application, which made it look sloppy and lumpy. I had nail polish on the skin surrounding the nail! I think a five year old could have applied it better.... I ended up redoing the polish at home afterwards. As you can tell by now, I would NOT recommend this salon to anyone for either a pedicure or a hair service, as it was very unprofessional and not cheap ($45 for the pedicure). I was disappointed as the salon is close to where I live and would have been convenient to go to, however, the service was just too poor.

Very poor acrylics (this review applies to nail services only) – The woman who has been doing my nails for the past 5 years recently switched careers, so I have been looking for an excellent nail tech. My natural nails have always been razor-thin and terribly weak. No matter how carefully I tend to them, they bend painfully at the slightest thing, so I wear an acrylic overlay for strength and stability.

My first attempt to find a new nail tech was at Salon 550. The nail tech was the owner. The appointment was excessively long; the full set took 2 hours. Athough the acrylics lasted almost three weeks without chipping or peeling, the shaping was terrible; by far the worst I've seen in 15 years of having acrylics. My nails were very thick, very lumpy (!), and unnatural. I made it clear when we started the appointment that I prefer short, neat, very natural-looking nails, but they looked anything but natural when she was done. I would honestly be surprised to find out that she was even licensed--there is no way she has had sufficient training or experience with acrylics. Her skills were so bad that the nail tech I saw for the next fill laughed when she saw my nails--she thought I had done them myself.

I have never written a review like this before but my experience at Salon 550 was such a poor value that I thought I'd let other people know. Since I am in the process of finding a good nail tech, I know how easy it is to waste a lot of money while you try to guess which salon provide the most skilled service. I wish more online reviews and resources were available.

The salon atmosphere was cordial but a little chaotic, overly casual for the high salon/spa cost ($45), and very gossipy. Overall I was very disappointed in the service I received and put off by the atmosphere. I definitely cannot recommend this salon for nail services, and I will not be visiting for any other services.
