Best restaurant in Hamtramck! – I was born and raised here in Hamtramck. Polish Village is by far the BEST restaurant! From the old times when it was Zusia's, to now. The pork chops, city chicken, and dill pickle soup are awesome. Great atmosphere and workers. If you don't like the pierogi deep fried, just ask for it to be pan fried! Not that hard!

When people talk about Polish restaurants or delis in the suburbs, I have to laugh. Hamtramck has the true Polish foods! Don't go to the "imitation places," get the real deal right here in Hamtramck. Keep up the good work Polish Village Cafe!!

Pretty good – I work at a polish restuarant in dearborn called jims place and I am constantly hearing about the restuarant in the basement so i decided to give it a try.... it was packed i had pierogies and cabbage soup the soup was ok but i was not a fan of the deep fried pierogie because at my work and through my life ive always had pan fried, also it was a very long wait for our food i almost felt walking out..... they do have a really nice atmophere more like a bar though very loud and tight

Always a great time at PVC – We have been going to Polish Village for 5 years now. What a gem. We are constantly introducing friends to this place because of the charming atmosphere and food which are always consistent. We were there last night and had to wait an hour and a half for a table. Was it worth the wait? Of course the bar is the best part. My husband and I are always meeting new people if it is just the two of us. Last night we were with a group and we had a great time. It does get busy and crowded and yet once you are seated there is absolutely no rush to leave. Carolyn, we always appreciate you and the other staff. Thanks for another great evening.

One of THE BEST – Had to try this place because it was voted "One of the Best" in Detroit and I would have to agree.

Menu had lotsa choices.

Food was great.

Help was OK.

bad – Horrible service and mediocre food. Both Under the Eagle and Polonia are better options.

bad – where do i start?......... the waitress was rude, the Polish platter serving is small. one pierogi...... you got to be kidding. the golbaki was appetizer size. i am 6' 4" and weigh in at 250 - (big pole). the food was bland. please don't think this is a good representation of polish food. on the bright side, the Polish beer was good.

pretty good food BUT the other place is better! – We came across the border to sample the two polish places. I am a pierogi eating and making expert, and I ordered the peirogi sampler. Priced right, the server was quick and pleasant. My Lady had the mushroom crepe (she didn't want her soup so i ate the borsht). the peirogies were deep-fried . They were tasty but they squirted when I opened them up...too crunchy. The fillings were all good. Lots of sour cream offered. My Lady's crepe was dry but fine. The soup was fresh but too sweet for my taste. Prices are reasonable, food is tasty, and I would come back this place gain.

The other restaurant is just a walk away. We went there after and shared an order of pan-fried pierogies and potato pancakes. Theirs were definitely better. Both restaurants are as Polish as you are going to get! The Cafe does have "flacki" (tripe!) which i can't stand but that is certainly very Polish!

We went an early Saturday afternoon.

Lard City--Fat City – Everything here is fried in animal lard. From the golbaki, to the stuffed peirogis. Hence, why it tastes sooooo good. It's even put into the soups.

Coockrooach in my menu – This is not a lie people. We were seated back near the kitchen area, just past the bar. We were sat probably by that rude waitress from the review below, since she had no knowledge of the "list" thing. We sat down, and given wet menus. Upon opening my friend found a crushed, dead coockrooach behind the plastic....that is all I have to say. He did not eat...and I stuck with the Zivietz beer.
