Greasy chips, food was ok otherwise. A lovely distinct odor of sewer gas takes you back to simpler times, making you simply stayed home and had a sandwich. Condemn this place now!!!
Xochimilco Restaurant is one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants in Detroit. Actually, I live in Houston now, and I prefer Xochimilco to nearly any Mexican Restaurant I've been to in Houston. Too much TexMex going on in Houston. If you live in MI make it a point to go to Xochimilco’s; you won’t be disappointed.
I live in Tn now and really miss xoc's ...too bad they didnt franchise out & come down south! lol I miss the botana salad & chimichangas!
BEST MEXICAN IN DETROIT – The Super Nacho's are out of this world, no one makes them better then Xoc's. And their Amaretto Organe Bloosoms are fantastic, i would love the recipe. Yeah the decor has not changed in 20 yrs, but that is what make you feel like you are in a wonderful old mexican restaurant. If i lived closer i would be their everyday.
Great Food – Good food, good service, salsa just. Ok
Nice lunch – A fun lunch in Mexican town. The enchiladas were tasty, hot and fast.
Poor Experience – We headed to xochimilco yesterday as both a family Easter celebration and also my son's 20th birthday. I hadn't been there in probably 20 years or more. That is how the decor looked, very outdated and almost grungy. I had made a reservation for a party of 12. They started off by trying to seat us at 2 tables when there was barely anyone in the restaurant. We finally got that straight.
The flaming cheese was not flaming (what is that about?) It tasted ok but no ambience. For the first time I can remember, I actually sent my chile rellenos back. It was horrible, full of grease. The staff was very drab and not energetic at all...maybe they didn't like working Easter. We had to ask for some items like water several times. The chicken fajitas were very good. No deep fried ice cream at all. It was nice to get the family together but based on our experience I would give xochimilco a miss next time. I am not a really fussy diner but I do like to feel appreciated as a patron. No where was that evident in our visit.
Disapointed in a Used To Be! – So disapointed in what used to be a favorite! Xochilmico has jumped the shark!!! The food has gone greasy and overly salty. The staff are unprofessional and even condisending and discriminatory! There are so many other mexican restaurants in the area, makes staying away from here an easy thing!
Very Disappointed – My family and friends decided we wanted to eat some good Mexican food. Since Xochimilco has not been a disappointed in the past we decided to have a late evening meal there. All of our meals tasted like frozen food that was reheated and served. Sorry to say we will not go back there again nor will I recommend this establishment to any of my family or friends. I am truly amazed at how poor the quality of food tasted considering they use to be the best in town.
Very good food at a great price. – We went as a church group of about 12 people. We called several hours before getting there and they made reservations.
The men's bathroom was not accessible for me in my wheelchair but they let me use the ladies, and let others know I was using it, even though I could lock the door.
All in all, a nice experience and we will consider going back as a group.
