Food good, but service is spotty. I have found the food to always be good. However I have had carry-out errors several times. And some of the young men waiting tables and working the cash register clearly think they are far too cool for their jobs, so with these individuals the quality of service is lacking.
Absolute worst service. I have been in the food business for 12 yrs as a catering manager. Went there with two friends it was pretty slow there that day. They had one other table that was occupied besides us. There were 3 waiters sitting down goofing off and playing with their cell phones by the kitchen. I finally hailed one down after 20 min. He yelled across the restaurant in Arabic to a another waiter chatting with a buddy at the raw juice bar. and then told us he will be right there to take our order, mind you this place isn't that big any one of them could have taken our order. We waited another 15 min and nothing, no acknowledgment whatsoever. so we finally just left. I have never in my life seen such appalling service. Being in the restaurant business for so long i know how stressful a kitchen can be, but this was uncalled for. First time and last time coming to this place.
That Best hot bread in town!. I love their food and their bread everyone is friendly and welcoming..great place..
My favorite place from "Detroit". I love their food! While living in the area, almost 15 years ago, a co-worker took me to lunch here and promised I would love it (I knew nothing about middle eastern food). It is the #1 thing I miss about living there! Chicken Shwarma sandwich, 1/2 a order of hummus, and the FRESHEST lemonade is what I order every time! I compare every other middle eastern food I have to the quality and freshness that I have experienced here. I haven't been there in years, but will be in the area this weekend, and am on a mission get to the Pita Cafe this time. I can't wait!!
Great Middle Eastern Food!. The garlic spread it is the best I have every tried and the fresh hot bread is best as well ..Make sure to try the Deboned Chicken..Wow!
Best Garlic Spread, tender chicken/beef kababs, awesome hummous, great soup...freshly made bread.
I visited the Pita Cafe in Oak Park for the very first time Friday at lunch. I have heard so much about this restaurant from my fellow co-workers at the hospital, that I finally had to see what all the noise was about. I past daily and I must admit, the outside is so deceiving. Once in the restaurant you realize this isn't just a fast food joint, the decor and ambience is warm and inviting. The parking lot was crazy, but it was so worth it. I can see now what the fuss was all about. The food was fresh and delicious. The entire staff worked hard to please every table, they were very professional and everyone was very friendly. To my surprise, The Pita Cafe isn't a secret to professional and business men/women alike, not to mention all the men and women dressed in hospital scrubs. The place was packed with customers having lunch meetings and friendly lunches. To my surprise there was a line up at the door, but the wait was only 5 minutes, I must say if it had even been longer, it is worth it.
The fresh juices were so refreshing and I was surprised at how many different combinations they had. The food tasted fresh and it was plentiful. If you get the chance, you will love it. Don't be afraid to try the garlic spread, (it is the best I have every tried) they offer mints!
Quality Food and Wonderful dining experience. It was my first trip to pita cafe. Our sever was kasha, she was just wonderful and friendly and did a wonderful job. She was able to answer all of our ( numberous) questions. When the food arrived we then discovered we had a new favorite restaruant. Amazingly the price was reasonable, and the food portion was perfect, I even had left overs. I have to dine at the pita cafe at least once a week, im hooked on the shish tawook dinner and the spring mix salad with there hot sesame pita pockets ummmmmm.
Poor management and unsafe food handling.. Ordered Greek Salad and specialty Chicken Sandwich. Waiter brought wrong size salad (larger size). When asked about it, I was rudely told that's what I ordered. Next, I bit into my sandwich; it was dry. Told waiter that I was not satisfied with sandwich. Waiter tried to bring me a side of garlic sauce, but that's not what I wanted. I wanted a new sandwich made the correct way with fresh ingredients. Waiter took plate with old sandwich and a few olive pits that I put there from my Greek Salad. Waiter brought me new sandwich. I took a bite out of new sandwich and found a olive pit (at first I thought it might have been a chicken bone). My previous sandwich was recycled to make new sandwich; that's gross. Shortly after I realized what just happend, I flagged the hostess. She got manager. Explained to manager about my experience, and I politely asked for a new sandwich and a new salad (correct size). Manager took my plates. Manager came back and gave me a hard time about returning the larger salad that I didn't order in the first place. To make a long story short, the manager told me that I was costing him money, meaning no profit from my visit. I was stunned and very much insaulted. In a nut shell, I walked out; and I will never return again. This has not been my first bad experience with Pita Cafe in Oak Park. They have messed up several carry out orders in the past where I had to go back to get my order corrected. Pita Cafe never said sorry or offered a meal as a courtesy. I strongly feel Pita Cafe is only looking for the green, and they do not care about satisfied customers. I am a firm believer that Pita Cafe doesn't practive correct food handling proceedures. Shame on you!!! Please do not eat at Pita Cafe. If you have had a bad experience, please post. Together we can make the public aware of this restaurant's poor food handling and bad managment. May 2007.
O.K. Food, but what is the price about..??.
This resturant relies on the fact that most people do not know about the Middle Eastern food in Dearborn, which is only 20 min away.
Do not get me wrong, the food is good, and the service is awesome but they are overpriced as if they are rubbing you in daylight. If you go to warren street restaurants, they are more romantic, more spacey, 10 times better food quality, 2 or 3 times more portion size and still half the cost.
For example on warren try Al-Ameer or Cedar Land or many, many others.
