A colorful seafood restaurant for kids of all ages--especially the younger ones..
In Short
Admittedly kitschy, unavoidably noisy, this Red Lobster for rug rats is like an oversized seaside shanty awash in oceanic memorabilia--fishing nets, souvenir trinkets, plastic flotsam and jetsam. Staffed with a lively crew of G-rated table-dancing servers, the family-friendly chain anchors its menu in all things crab: Crab balls, crab cakes, crab dip, crab gumbo. Finicky children opt for corndogs or hamburgers; shellfish-phobic adults dine on rib eye steak or mesquite-grilled chicken.
Mediocre at best. My husband and I decided to try this kitschy looking restaurant for dinner tonight. I ordered the fried shrimp which arrived warm on a bed of french fries, to me it tasted like something you would throw in the oven from home. Nothing exciting about it. My husband's dinner was not great either. We both agreed that nothing was crispy, it was like they had it sitting under a heat lamp. They were not busy when we went so they didn't exactly have an excuse for the poor food quality. The waitstaff was friendly but that was about all.
Good Food & Lots of Fun!. Joe's offers big portions and reasonable prices plus friendly service and outdoor dining. I had penne pasta with shrimp and spicy sauce; very good! The portions were so big, I didn't have room for dessert. Check out the souvenir shop with witty, silly sayings on t-shirts; I wish the size selection had been larger, though. We only had lunch here, and the crowd was small, but I hear it can get very busy in the evenings. We had lots of fun here.
No matter what city, Joe's knows Crabs. If you really wantto treat yourself to something truly special, try Joe's Barbequed Dungeoness Crabs...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
WHAT...WHAT DID YOU SAY?. We went to the Shack last night and the music was so loud that we could not have a conversation. The food was cold. My crab sandwhich did not even taste like crab, I think because it had so much filler in it. Slow service. This is the kind of restaurant that spends a fortune on decayed decorating and nothing on the food. Another fake DisneyLand style of dining....all style and no substance.
Makes An Old Crab Smile.
Even an old crab like me can have a great time here. I do not generally enjoy the idea of dining with a lot of kids, but the food was good and the atmosphere was fantastic. Everyone seemed to be having a ball the entire time we spent there.
The wife and I enjoyed just watching the families having so much fun. Take your kids and enjoy!
