I brought my kitten to Union Lake Veterinary because it was moaning and pressing its belly to the ground, and appeared to be in pain - from what I could tell. They told me that she "probably" had a urinary tract infection and gave her an antibiotic shot and sent me home with 3 days of liquid narcotics, and charged me $150 for the visit. A few weeks later, the same behavior starts up again, so I started reading up on it. Apparently, the kitten is in heat. When I called the vets office to let them know, they stated that being in heat and a urinary tract infection can appear to be the same thing?? and that a spay costs $300??? Also, sorry, no compensation for the misdiagnosis - we don't feel that we misdiagnosed based on what you told us! I guess if you want some prescription narcotics, just bring in a kitten in heat BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! I will never go there again. I strongly urge you to read other reviews. I have read some pretty disturbing things about this vets office.
I have been a loyal customer for many years now! ULVS has taken care of my dog, 2 ferrets, and 4 cats their whole lives. I trust them and will always use them. They saved my dog's life once and calmed me down during the whole experience. They are caring and one can tell they love their job as soon as you enter the building. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a pet!
What a GREAT Pet Place!. I have recently relocated to the Waterford area and my dog, Stella, needed her annual exam. My next door neighbor took her pets to this place for years and told me that I should go there too. I been to several vets over the past few years but I have never been to as clean and nice as this one! Although they are currently remodeling the reception area and things were pretty hectic when Stella and I arrived, I found the staff was so nice and courteous to us that I felt quite at ease there and so did Stella! The Doctor (Reynolds) was quite thorough and explained everything to me before examining Stella. She took a lot of time with us and I felt assured that she hadn't missed a thing. The price I paid was similar to the other vets but the quality was far superior. I would reccomend this place to anyone who cares alot about their pet. I am going back in a few weeks to get Stella groomed at their grooming service accross the parking lot.
Top Notch!. We've been a ULVH family for 15 years, beginning with our 16 year old pup named Brandi and now with our 6 year old pup named Bella. We LOVE our pups and truly value their quality of life. There have been a couple of times over the years that I have been concerned about the cost of our visits, however once I walk into the facility to be greeted by the friendly smiling staff and the fragrance of santizing cleaner my concern begins to dwindled. Dr. Plein is our veterinarian of preference, however we have been seen by several of the doctors. Our pups have their annual physicals, dental cleanings, surgical needs....Everything is handled at ULVH. Our eldest dog, Brandi, recently passed. On what was for sure one of the hardest days of my life, I was greeted on the phone by a caring staff from the person that helped me while sobbing on the phone, to the escort to our room, to the doctor who came in, to the employee who came in on her day off when she heard of Brandi's passing to be with me. Bella is a naughty dog. She bites, growls and jumps. What she lacks in proper dog ettiquecy, she makes up for in cuteness. The ULVH recognize that, treat her with careful hands and still give her a treat on her way out the door. These are just a couple of the reasons that I am with ULVH and intend to stay with them. The quality of care we have received far out weighs the minimal cost savings we could find else where. There are some aspects of life that you just can't put a price tag on. This is one of them.
Terrible!. My puppy got very sick after having her LEPTO vaccine. They told me that some dogs have a reaction, but I would call this a little more than a "reaction".She had the vaccine at 10 am on a Saturday, and woke up at 3am on Sunday vomiting, and did not stop. I was waiting at the door the next morning for ULVH to open with my sick pup. Dr. Szasz told me there was no way my pup would have this type of reaction so long after the vaccine, a vaccine reaction would normally occur within the first few hours. They gave her some medication to stop the vominting. (Which of course they charged me $50 for, on top of what I already paid) Monday at 3 am she woke up vomiting again, and once again I was back at the vet first thing. This litterally went on for 6 days. They ran all sorts of test, took x-rays, and even decided to spay her a little early so they could do exploratory surgery. After biopsying her intestines, and sending them out for testing, they let me know that she is perfectly healthy. They really weren't sure what was causing her to get so sick. So $1500.00 later I still had no answers. However they did recommend that we continue with the series of LEPTO vaccines. I said no, and Dr. Herdon tried to make me feel like a bad pet owner. I did some research on the LEPTO vaccine, and I read that some dogs have had seziures, lost feeling in their hind quarters, and in a few cases some dogs died after having the vaccine. During that week, Ibelieve we saw every vet in the on staff, and they all told me there is no way the LEPTO vaccine would cause her to be so sick. I feel that they really don't care about anything but the money. This vet office is much more expensive then most, and the quality of care is severly lacking. I will say,out of everyonedid like Dr. Hawker, however I will not be returning. My puppy is my baby, she is so important to me, and I hate to see her in pain. Before your vet tells you your dog has to have a vaccine,do some research.
Union Lake Veterinary Hospital.
I liked the fact that this Hospital has all woman Dr.'s. I did have a cat with a attitude but she was my cat and I loved her more than anything. Princess Precious Elizabeth MacDonald Heinz!!!!!I gave her to my Mom before my Mom passed.
Anyways Precious got sick the begining of March, so we took her to this hospital to be checked...
HUGE MISTAKE first they told us they needed to keep her for tests, than told us we needed to pay $1600.00 today to have them treat her!!!!Well I didn't have the money for two more days (payday) and they refused to treat Precious until I paid the full amount!!! In fact I was told to take her home until I had the money!!!!!!Real caring people......
Than they said give us $400 and we will keep her tonight, so we did and they kept her. I live 5 min from there and I just got home and they called me and said she had a mass on her lungs and I should put her to sleep.....Well we turned around and sure enough they put her to sleep. Than on the way out they handed my husband $10.00 and said we over paid by $10.00?????? I have never been so hurt by anyone in my life. In fact the one tech keep telling me the reason people had to pay was so she could keep her job!!!!! Do you think someone cares when they are faced with putting their beautiful pet to sleep??????HELL NO....
I would NEVER take another pet to that place, they are very cold and uncaring people..I feel better now and I know my new kitty will go to Gasow's in Birmingham where they care about your children (animals).
