Worst experience. I would not waste my time driving to this bakery. I was trying to order a cake for my party and brought them a design I would like created. They agreed to do the design and gave me a price. The appointment took so long, that I had to leave and go to another appointment. When I came back to order the cake my paperwork magically disappeared and the price had now increased. I reminded them of the price we agreed on before and they called me a lier. I told them, how could I be lying if this is the number of slices and this is the cost per slice. How else would I have known that. It was not a little increase either it would have costed me over a $100 more for the same design and the same number of slices. I took my business somewhere else.

Untrustworthy and unprofessional. Went in for a price quote for a wedding cake. When we went to make a deposit after picking up a sample of our design they refused to give a written quote and later changed the price. We had to call them to finally get the quote and the owner insisted that we had indeed been given the quote a week earlier. I have never been called a liar by a business owner before. When on the phone with the owner I decided there was no way I was going to trust these people with the such an important day.

Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop. Terrible!! I ordered a cake here for my son's 1st birthday and they made me the WRONG cake! Then when I asked them how they were going to fix the problem they had the nerve to act like it was no big deal! They discounted the cake, not even by half and that was the best they would do. I would not recommend them to anyone I know...terrible customer service as well.

Great cake from a longtime Detroit business!. I got my wedding cake from Mrs. Maddox . The shop employees were very helpful during the ordering process. I was planning my wedding from out-of-state and had to do everything over the phone rather than in person, but they still got everything right. They delivered the cake exactly on time, and it was beautiful, reasonably-priced, and absolutely delicious. One of my wedding guests told me it was the best cake she had ever had at a wedding.

On a sentimental note, both my grandmother and my mother also ordered their wedding cakes from Mrs. Maddox -- this bakery has a longstanding tradition of making great cakes!

Terrific cakes!. I ordered a cake for a surprise party, and everyone at Mrs. Maddox Cake shop was very helpful. They had many artistic designs to choose from, and I had them draw from a picture I had - they did a terrific job. I had to change the size several times, and everyone was very helpful. I ended up ordering an extra cake on the side to accommodate for a bunch of last minute RSVPs, and they had several good ready-to-go cakes available. Both cakes were delicious. I highly recommend Mrs. Maddox Cake Shop for well made cakes and desserts. It's more expensive than Costco, but the cake is DEFINITELY worth it - no Crisco frosting used!

They have many small desserts, too. Be advised that you can't eat-in here.
