A Hollywood institution. Musso and Frank's has been the watering hole of movie moguls, titans of American literature, rock stars, city politicians, and faithful locals. As much as I love the food, I come here to drink. Forget all the modern mixology, longtime barman Ruben has perfected the classics: vodka martini, gin fizz, old fashioned, and the margarita.

Career waiters serving stiff drinks, bloody steaks and legendary French onion soups make this place a destination for generations of Angelenos.

Oldest restaurant in Hollywood. Fun, antiquated menu with stuff like stuffed celery and Welsh rarebit. The martini is one of the best!

The oldest restaurant in Hollywood - going strong since the teens - the last teens, that is ... Known for old- school service, this is a great place to take visiting parents or a romantic date. Stick to the bar for pre-dinner martinis or an early nightcap.

Worst Food Ever, Total Tourist Trap Scam – I went to Musso and Franks the other night with three friends as part of a weekly "guys night out." I have no idea how Musso & Frank managed to become an "institution" because the food just flat out 5ucks. It made two people in our party literally physically ill. It was like really really really bad cafeteria food, except instead of paying $5 or whatever, you're paying $25. I guess barely literate waiters in the spiffy red jackets is supposed to spell "class" and "old school" but the service was subpar despite the fancy getups. They say the cocktails are exceptional here, but they're not, at least my martini wasn't. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. And at $8.50, they didn't wash the bad taste of the food out of my mouth. Other minor matters: when we complained about the food, we were told the manager "was busy." Also, the Special of the Day was all gone at 8pm, as were several other dishes on the menu. So I ordered the ribs which came for some reason on cold saurkraut with turkey gravy. Don't believe the hype. We spent most of the night either in the restroom or watching and laughing at the grimaces on the faces of the other patrons.

cool old hollywood restaurant – It was a great place to see, really old school...The waiters seemed kinda stuffy but whatever..food was good and the place was almost empty..My father saw someone look in at the bar and told me it was James Woods.....so i took my neice and walked by and sure enough it was!My father asked the waiter if it would be rude to ask him for an autograph but the waiter said go ahead hes very nice. So when me and my neice came back by my dad was talking to Mr. Woods, so i went up and shook his hand and he was just the nicest person..........so 5 stars for James Woods , 4 stars for the restaurant........

facsist – I am a 22 year old woman, asian who went with my boyfriend an african american and this was my experience at Musso and Franks. The moment I walked in the maitre de looked down on us. As we sat down we felt awkwardly uncomfortable. Besides the atmosphere, the building was beautiful, but the service was horrible. They got both of our orders wrong and the food although good was not spectacular. If anything you're paying for the history and not the actual quality. That is unless you decide to valet park your Rolls Royce and are white republicans. I would have giving it a quarter of a star if at all possible.

The Best of "Old Hollywood" – It looked like everything I thought it should be. It felt like "old Hollywood." The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is that I didn't eat there, only drank at the charming bar. Perhaps, if I had eaten, I'd have given it more or less. However, the best part were the waiters & bartenders. My husband had a great conversation in English & Spanish with a wonderful, little red jacketed Mexican waiter. He sang us a song about Mexico & wanting to be home. It reminded me of a poem I had just read with my students. My overall feeling is of great fondness & I would go back.

PRINT THE LEGEND... – In John Ford's film Liberty Valance there's a famous quote..."When the legend becomes fact, print the legend!" This place IS legendary! And people love the legend. However it is also horrible! BAD food, outrageous prices, poor service. You go here to absorb the history. The food tastes just as old. I've had many meals here. All bad. But you just gotta love AND hate this place. Very complex! Perhaps the most of ANY establishment in LA! So go with a warning.

A bit dissappointed – I've heard good things about this place long time ago, but just had a chance to try lately. First step in to the restaurant I was a little impressed by surrounding decoration and people. It was pretty nice restaurant, in their way, since 1919. Their Manhattan martini was very nice. The only major issue would be our server. He was not very understanding, also try to make us order filetmignon by stating that other kind of meat will be tough. (I wouldn't say any of the steaks from the restaurant I work would be tough to eat.)

The only good dish was Braised Pork Chop, very tender and flavorful. The rest were not good, grill halibut was tasteless as same as club steak. They need to be seasoned.

Old Hollywood – Thick, rare filet mignon, bloody on the inside, slightly charred on the outside paired with a gin martini and a long legged blonde. If this is your idea of a good time, Musso and Frank's is the place for you. They do it well. Raymond Chandler and Orson Welles.

Tear this place down with the cooks and the servers – Worst food and service very, two cups of soups and two sandwichs for $40.00 and was so bad only could eat two or three bits, the servicer could care less about our meal very rude.
