I love comfort foods and they serve a very delicious 3 grilled cheese with tomato soup. It's perfectly grilled and you can taste the butter on the toast. The cheese is gooey and the tomato soup is a great dip.

Eh, okay – So, the food was average; service was average; price was high; ambiance was very cute. Would recommend going for the cutesy, cottage appeal, but honestly, the food at the Ivy is much better.

Avoid Theatre Nights – Let me start by saying that I've been to Off Vine before this last visit and had a fantastic experience.

They have a decent wine list (not too overpriced) and good food.

This past weekend, my coworker, his wife and my husband and I made reservations at Off Vine for dinner before going to see Wicked. We had raved about Off Vine and since it wasn't a far walk from the Pantages, it was the perfect choice.

My coworker called to make a reservation but was told that the time we requested was not available so we had to make an earlier reservation. Good thing we did!

My coworker has a newly found love for fish and he picked one of the specials of the day... the trout with shrimp. He loved it!

His wife is a vegetarian and chose the meatless lasagna. Easy enough dish right? When her food arrived, she had a bite and the middle still had frozen cheese! We could not believe it!

My husband ordered the NY Steak and asked for it medium rare. The steak came and was almost well done. I ordered the duck breast (I was a little peeved that our server did not ask how I wanted it done...I always prefer medium rare, but I wasn't given the choice) and it came almost well done again.

We had to send the lasagna and the steak back. The manager came out and apologized and said it was Murphy's law that it doesn't usually happen so they were comping the souflees that we had already ordered...a chocolate and a raspberry.

We were finishing our dinner and before I could finish my duck, the server brought out the souflees in which I was very disappointed, because they were already falling flat. The raspberry might as well have been fruit soup because that was what it looked like. The chocolate was just a little better, but we were so disappointed!

Free did not mean that they didn't have to put any effort into it.

I have to say that this last experience was very disappointing and I hope this is not how Off Vine will continue.

Perhaps it's best to just not go on a theatre night!

Ok place. – After reading several "wonderful" reviews I decided to make reservations here b/c of its close proximity to the Pantages. Very nice and romantic patio seating area outside and homy inside the restaurant. Seating was prompt (as the place was nearly empty) and the service and food were average. We were recommended the chocloate souffle for dessert and it was the most bland dessert I'd had. If you want just ok food this is the place. For $5 valet, you can leave your car there and walk to Pantages.

Huge Portions - Great Food – I love this spot - looks like a little house tucked away off Vine near Sunset. Flavors are outstanding and the portions are huge. The perfect spot for a business lunch or a date before the Arclight (across the street) - you will not be disappointed.

Got sick from a chicken sandwich! – The last time I was at Off Vine, I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich for lunch. I ate half the sandwich at the restaurant and the other half around 5pm for a late afternoon snack. I didn't feel that hungry when dinner time came around so I ended up just drinking soup. I went to bed and around 2am, I woke up feeling sick. I ended up throwing up until 5 or 6 am. I was so sick that I ended up missing a few days of work. I called Off Vine to let them know what had happened. They called me back two days later saying that they haven't heard any other complaints. I was suprised because you wouldn't expect to get sick from a place like Off Vine because of its high caliber. I paid $10.95 for a chicken sandwich and got sick for 2-3 days and I was not compensated in any way. I've been going to Off Vine for over 2 year and besides the slow service I've usually had decent experiences, however after getting sick, I am NEVER going there again.

Nice, Quiet Atmosphere, With Ho-Hum and Pricey Food – After reading the reviews on here, I took a friend to Off Vine for Saturday brunch.

I chose Off Vine over the other possibilities because they were well rated on CitySearch, and their website menu offered mimosas.

It was interesting pulling up basically right across the street from the Arclight and seeing literally a house in the middle of old beat-up buildings. There was no signage, so it was good that I had seen their website. It was fairly quiet, so I avoided the $3 parking fee and parked at the empty Kinko's parking lot across the street on Leland.

Got inside and the atmosphere was great! A warm fire was burning in the fireplace, and recorded neo-sould / jazz type music was playing at just about the right volume. The host invited us to pick any table we wanted, so we chose a quiet corner table.

While I cannot blame the restaurant for this, to my slight dismay, 3 pretentious young women took the table next to us, however, we ignored it.

We were also treated very well. My "date" and I went to Off Vine on the way to a college basketball game, so we were both dressed very casually. I was wearing jeans and a hoodie and she had on jeans and a nice black top. No one seemed to treat us with any disrespect.

The real disappoints were the food and the cost.

There were several tempting choices on the menu. We ended up ordering the 3 eggs plate (with meat and potatoes) for me, a gourmet chicken salad for her, and a mimosa each, The food was not horrible by any means, but it was far less than spectacular.

Our two mimosas, egg plate, and salad ended up costing $45 plus tip.

Perhaps we just ordered the wrong things, but for the price, it was not worth it.

Best all around! – The ratings for this said it was not great for groups, but that is not true. It is great for a group of about 4-6. If you have a family with older kids that are respectful and polite it would be a nice place to have a nice family dinner.

Hidden Gem in Hollywood – Not hard to find but still hidden. Great brunch with outdoor seating and delicious French Toast. Excellent dinner and close to the Hollywood theater scene.

We always take our out-of-town family and friends when they come to visit and they are surprised with the rustic charm so close to the tinsel.

Nice atmosphere, decent food. – The staff are friendly and professional, and although the restaurant was crowded, they were able to seat us on a Friday night even though we didn't have a reservation.

The food was good (although I wasn't too crazy about the carrot puree), and the server was able to recommend a delicious rose (although she forgot to ask if we wanted a different wine with dinner - my duck kind of overpowered the light wine).

There's nothing revolutionary going on in the kitchen here, but that's not a bad thing - this is a great place for a first date, or an unadventurous eater, since most of the menu items are familiar and comforting.

Although I don't know if I'll be back, I had a great experience here and enjoyed my meal and the garden-like atmosphere.

Simply the Best! – Perfect for a romantic meal or Sunday brunch. The new chocolate mousse is sublime. Whenever I need to impress anyone - there's only one choice in Hollywood: OFF-VINE. Great food, outstanding staff and the most charming owners (they should have a TV show!).
