“The location is at the edge of the sketchy stretch of Hollywood Blvd, and there is no street parking around there (I had to do a pay lot).”
“this place is good to dance and have a good time but not to drink cuz the drinks are expensive.”
“Although I love indy rock and hip hop the selections they make are pretty bad.”
“like the crowd, even though it may be on the young side, but we were all 18+ at one time and wanted a good place to party.”
“The decor was better than I remembered (I love the huge video screens), and the crowd was mostly young good looking people.”
“Even though the club is huge, there's still not much room for people who really know how to dance.”
“mean, it's really ok to blast those speakers onto it's full volume as long as it won't distort that much.”
Citysearch Editorial Review. This Hollywood venue hosts different clubs on different nights, popular with the new wave, hipster and 18-and-over crowd. Inside, music videos and movie clips are played as a DJ spins and go-go boxes beckon dancers who are not so shy. Unlike the ultra-trendy clubs on Hollywood Boulevard, the scene at The Ruby is much more relaxed.
Not bad. Nothing special in here. The music is too outdated. I'm not talking about those retro stuff 'cause that's common sense. The sound system is too annoying. It's not good for your ears. Too much treble and I can't even feel the bass at all. There's a distortion/noise with their sound system too. I mean, it's really ok to blast those speakers onto it's full volume as long as it won't distort that much.. Divided rooms are too close to each other as in you could really hear mixture of different genres which is also annoying. The ambience is so dirty.
My Favorite of all time. I was introduced to the World when I was 19 and have been going ever since. I'm now 27...almost 28 (yikes!) and I still LOVE this place. The crowd on Friday nights are more friendly, and there are a lot of regulars. Saturdays there is great musictoo but I noticed the people can be a little rude though. Oh, and the sweetest bartender is this little lady in the back room, she takes care of me everytime go.
Holloween night?. Great place for 80's. Love going there. Has anyone been there for holloween night? Dont know if I should go there.
Great music, fun time.. I drive down from UCSB as often as I can to go to Clockwork Orange. This club has great music and a decent environment. My ex and I are well over 21 but still enjoy The Ruby. You should understand that with a busy schedule as a full time student who works full time I'm very busy but I choose to drive past probably 100 other places that are much closer to Santa Barbara because this place is far superior. I don't care if some people are 8 years younger than me the music is worth it.
Fun. 3 rooms of different kind of music, Mixed crowd's as well as multiple bar's. The night life doesnt really doesnt start till midnightish.
Clockwork Orange Drama. On Friday August 3 I tried to come to Clockwork Orange. The bouncer wouldn't let me in he thought I was drunk. He wouldn't even talk to me about this. I tried to talk to him and he just said I am not letting you in. He just said no. I tried to talk to the girl outside and she just told me that she is in promotions only and can?t help me. She could have gotten the right person for me very easily. Now I know I may have a medical condition that I am going to the Doctor to find out what is wrong. I have an appointment with a neurologist and at this point refusing me entry is like discrimination. I was so excited to be going dancing at your club because I have been going there for years, but you need to talk to your employees they made me feel so bad I almost cried. Then of course it cost all that gas money for you to tell me no. I basically never want to come there again because of the horrible treatment I received. I want to still talk about this to see what you will be doing to make me feel a better about this. It would be bad if I had to do something drastic.
80's every sunday night!!!. amazing!! I go to BEAT IT every sunday night! They have awesome 80's music which is so fun when you go with your girlfriends! I always meet the coolest people there too! If you go to their website you get in free most weeks with a print out pass. I always find parking on the street and getting in is always quick and efficient. The drinks aren't too pricey comparing other clubs and the bartenders are really nice. If you want a night out with the girls to get dressed up and have a good time this is the place. However i only go sunday nights so i dont know how the other nights are. The guys arent pushy if you dont wanna dance with them and you will have a good time no matter what. I've been going there every sunday since september and it is still the highlight of my week!
Avoid during the week!.
For 18+, I'd heard this place was about as good as it gets. My friends and I needed somewhere to go dancing on a thursday night, so decided to check it out.
After dropping an hour's drive time and a $13 dollar cover, turns out thursday night is goth/industrial at the ruby. People were dancing slow-mo matrix style, decked out in black, leather, and chains S&M style. When we asked the bouncer if this was a special event or something, he scoffed and said, "It's ALWAYS been like this," and proceeded to make fun of us to his bouncer friend as we walked out.
Moral of the story: don't go during the week. Unadvertised special themed nights go on, and none of it is broadcasted via the internet. NO REVIEW ANYWHERE warned us of this. I'm here to fix that.
Great for under 21. I'm 20 years old and i wasnt too fond of the place. the $13 charge was too much for the environment. I kid you not but most of the people coming in looked underage, the music was fine but most of the kids were just hanging out like it was homecoming. I like places with a variety of people but most of the kids there were very emo.
