Okay for anyone who is interested

I have a 1948 Chevy Thriftmaster 5 window pickup. It is forest green with white lettering and a lot of chrome. Last summer I drove it around town for fun, but I left a cloud of smoke at very 4 way stop and a buddy commented it leaked oil like the national debt. So in October I decided it was time to rebuild the engine. I worked on it, and for a simple straight inline 6, nothing went right and everywhere I turned felt like a brick wall slapping me in the face. By mid February I was no closer to getting this done, really than I was last October. I was frustrated and ready to scrap the whole thing. I was just about ready to get a remanufactured engine from out of state, when a guy I know said to look at Austin Jordan. He said they were good, and the guy is no sugar coater.

I called Jason. From that point on it was like I hit an 'easy' button. Everything the guys at AJ said they would do, they did. In fact they did much more than they said they would.

Jason was great. Dennis was helpful. Don let me pester him and stop by like and expectant parent, and Mike, who they call Indian worked a couple of small miracles on my truck.

The bottom line is, after 3 and a half months of spinning my wheels, Austin Jordan remanufactured an engine, put it in the truck, hooked everything up with my parts and parts from Northwestern auto, in two weeks! I literally drove the truck an hour home that second Saturday.

They were not cheap, but they were not outrageous either. They were fair and they are genuine car guys and best of all they are right here in west Michigan.

I drove the green truck to Grand Haven today, something I was afraid to do last year and it was great. I said in February I would never rebuild an old car again, but I think we all know that I probably will, next time I am going straight to Austin Jordan for all the engine work, first.

If you have a project and need to call me, Jason, Dennis and Don have my phone number, you can call me anytime, these guys are the best.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!! This "business" is a joke!!! They had my car for over a week and still didn't have an estimate for me! It took 3 days for them to even get to looking at it! They fat out lied on day two saying someone was testing driving it then, which I was told the next day wasn't true.

I called repeatedly and was always told I would be called right back, and never was. Which resulted in every morning phone calls. My final straw was when they became very rude to me for asking if someone would please really call me back this time! I was told that they were too busy to deal with me!

After a week and three phone calls in one day, I was told they weren't even going to work on it because it was a lot of hassle. To my knowledge water pump replacement isn't generally too much hassle for a good mechanic.

Generally these guys are a joke, can't fix the foreign cars they tell you they can when you drop it off, and are VERY rude. Not to mention the inside of an engine is cleaner than they front desk! STEER CLEAR and tell a friend!!

very very unprofesional shop, they cheat and rip people off,i recently found out that i paid for a remanufactured engine and brought it to 3 other shops including the dealer to verify, and was told that it was a used engine from the salvage yard that they bought and spray painted and installed in my car and told me it was rebuilt and the paperwork says rebuilt also,we are very dissapointed and seeking our next step that they arent going to be happy with. I have been told over the years to becareful that this shop does this and lyes to there customers all the time..but we gave them a chance,so everyone if you have had a engine installed by them and its having issues or your just not happy with, have it checked out,its fraud..you can have someone pull the spark plugs out and look down the cylinder at the top of the pistons and see if they are new or factory just by by the stampings on top....

No cookies; just good work – I have taken my 2001 Pathfinder to Austin-Jordan twice now, with the same results. The first time, they did the work my dealership was going to do for half the money; the second time, they readied my car for a 2,000-mile trip to New York in the winter, repairing an oil leak and checking everything. My car ran perfectly all during the trip and still does.

Austin-Jordan is a no-frills place. As a woman, I'm sometimes wary of car repair places, since I'm completely ignorant about engines and car repair. But I know I can trust these guys.

At the dealership, I get fresh cookies, an expensive showroom and inflated prices. At Austin-Jordan, I get good service, a fair price and car repair I can trust. I can make my own cookies.

Disappointed – I was quite disappointed at how my 1980 Firebird was repaired.

They could not get the original carburator to work so they put on a "new" one. Found out later this was not at all the same as the original.

Many wires/hoses not neatly arranged and some not even hooked up.

The cruise control was not hooked up so now does not work. The transmission does not work properly with "new" carburetor. For some reason, they glued the gasket on the carburetor.

Was everything done poorly? No. When the car was brought in it ran like a "3"; now it runs like a "7." But certainly not worth the thousands I spent.

Oh, did I mention they dropped the hood cover on the car resulting in several thousand in body damage?
