At Mashti Malone's, you can sample authentic Persian ice cream without breaking the bank. Try the rosewater with the orange blossom-it's craaaaaazy good :)

The robust, aromatic flavors of Mashti Malone's scoops would overpower almost any cookie, so instead of trying to out-muscle flavors like rosewater saffron or the perfumey lavender, the ice cream institution sticks to crisp wafers for its sandwich base.

Exotic and floral in some cases, but even the classics are done right. Mashtis--ice cream sandwiches with waffle cookies--are the way to go. No question!

While most ice cream lovers head to Mashti Malone's for the exotic flavors like rose water, saffron, ginger and lavender, I just wanted to remind people not to overlook Mashti's more traditional flavors. The peanut butter cup is amazingly creamy with generous chunks of peanut butter.

Adventurous Eaters Must Try the Rosewater Icecreams! – I have eaten both the rosewater icecream and the regular ice creams here, and think that both are fabulous. For the adventuorus and open minded, you must try on of the rosewater ice creams, with the herbed ice beads on it! Truly unique, and strangely delicious! Also try the sour cherry and fresh lemon juices in bottles on the tables. For those who are less adventurous, Mashti Malone's homemade ice creams are still worth the trip.

homemade ice cream in Hollywood – I figure that most of the people reading this are ice cream aficionados, like me. You're bored with the same place and same thing you get at chains. So you want to try different ice creams, especially homemade ice creams. Maybe you're even looking for the Holy Grail of ice creams, something so divine your taste buds will be born again. Well, although I'm still looking for the Holy Grail, I can say that I do enjoy Mashti Malone's because it meets the other criteria I look for (i.e., unique, homemade, not the same place/same thing). Probably their most unique hook is their rose water and saphron ice creams. These are Middle Eastern-style ice creams; you also have some syrups at the tables that are meant to be poured on top of these ice creams. To be honest, those just aren't my style. They aren't bad, so you should try them. But I'm more of a traditionalist. Anyways, like I said, Mashti Malone's makes their own ice cream. I think they're pretty good and it gives you something new to try. Also, I've always found the owner/workers to be very pleasant. Finally, I challenge you to try my special: a shake with one scoop of chocolate and one scoop of strawberry (it's a chocolate-covered strawberry taste).

Now, a note about parking--Mashti Malone's in just one store in a mini mall of stores (one of which is the "Lava Lounge," a grimy rock bar or something). The lot is usually full. However, Mashti Malone's has several spots reserved for their customers (basically right in front of their store), so 95% of the time I can pull right in to one of those.

Best ice cream ever! – I bring all my out-of-town guests here first thing! Why get plain old chain-store ice cream when you can try ginger-rosewater or saffron-rosewater ice cream instead? This is what ice cream should be: flavorful, rapturous, and still lingering after you finish without being overly cloying. The staff is very friendly and helpful too, and the prices are reasonable. Perfect little ice cream shop!

the most unusual ice cream – we just tried this last night and found it really interesting. we tried samples of the rosewater (really unique), the rosewater saffron with pistachios (delicious), the ginger rosewater (not my fave), and the turkish coffee flavor. i settled on the creamy rosewater, while my husband had that and a scoop of the turkish coffee. there are regular flavors there as well, but who would want that when you can have something more interesting? can;t wait to go back when they have the pomegranate sorbet!

Please Sample it first – My friends and I are Huge foodies. Since so many people raved about this place, we had to check it out. I neglected to sample the ice cream and alas, I hated every bite of it. The strong fragrance made it feel like I was eating roses. So PLEASE, if you never had it before, sample it first and decide whether you want to have regular ice cream or rosewater ones.

Heaven in a cup or cone. – These two brothers are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Iran is home to legendary rosewater and these two Iranian brothers have infused some very exotic and one of a kind flavors for your enjoyment. I personally suggest a scoop of Herbal Snow (my favorite!) mixed with a scoop of Rosewater Saffron ice cream, drizzled with imported Iranian cherry syrup and a splash of lemon juice. Tell me you didn't die and go to heaven right there. My and my friends can eat a half gallon of Herbal Snow in record time, and it's the most refreshing taste to cool you off on a hot day. They do the traditional flavors better than anywhere. Try the Praline & Almond ice cream. Or the Blueberry Cheesecake. Actually, every friend I've brought there goes back regularly. Mashti's is a cool scoop of heaven....and they stay open late, almost to midnight!

An Ice Cream experience – The servers are friendly and outgoing. They offer you tastes of any of the flavors. They make the ice cream right there at the store. Most important is that they have flavors you will not find anywhere else. Yes, they have great basic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, cookies and cream, etc. However it is their exotic flavors that I like the best and that is why I go there. You have just got to try Herbal Snow (especially on a hot day). It is the most flavorful and refreshing treat I have had. Then there is the Sour Cherry Rosewater.
