Very poor service; pizza bar substandard – Bad experience. Three of the four of us at our table ordered the pizza bar, the fourth ordered off the menu. Pizza bar was substandard - most of the pizzas had minimal toppings. Not what I expected from Carbones. There was supposed to be pasta and sauce - first time I went to get pasta, there was a little bit of sauce and no pasta; next time there was pasta, but no sauce. Finally gave up. The person who ordered off the menu waited 40 minutes to get his food. When the server finally delivered the food after 40 minutes, there was no apology for the long wait. Our server never asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks until I flagged him down and asked for refills. Needless to say, we left no tip and probably won't go back. What a disappointment. Surely not the quality of food or service I expected at Carbones!
Manager Not a good problem solver – I am sad to report that we will no longer be attending one of our favorite places. I go there for the buffet often, we go there in the evening. Their servers are awesome and the food is always to our liking. We eat there or take out at least once a week. After dealing with Lindsey the manager tonight, I have decided, based on her lack of problem solving ability, to not return.
My son placed our our weekly order for a 4-itme pizza and 2 hoagies to go like we usually do. I heard his order and we heard the phone person restate the order because my son was using his speaker phone. He confirmed and then we waited the half hour wait they told us and went to pick it up.
Upon returning, we noticed that the pizza was right on - and we love the pizza!! We also noticed that he had ordered a 1/2 turkey hoagie with no chips and extra pickle. He got the chips but also the pickle. I don't know if the chips are extra but we don't usually care that much as he doesn't eat the chips he goes right for the hoagie and then the pizza.
Here comes the problem...
The second hoagie was also a 1/2 turkey hoagie but we had ordered a beef hoagie. This can happen from time to time so I just made a phone call to find out what we should do.
( FYI: we place the same order each week and the only thing that changes is whether we get a half or whole hoagie)
I called up and let the person on the phone know we had an order mix up and asked what were our options. She got a manager. The manager found our order and said that the waitress checked with us to confirm and we OKayed it. I told the manager that we ordered this time and every time, a beef hoagie and that in this case we actually heard our sone say the order over the speak phone and confirm it and the phone person confirmed it as he ordered it.
She wanted to know what I wanted her to do. I asked her what were my options. She said she could make me another one and I said I would really prefer not to come in again and I wasn't going to eat the hoagie because I just had a subway turkey hoagie for lunch. She said she could give us a $5 credit. I asked her how much the hoagie was and she said something but I couldn't really hear her because it was so loud in the background. I mentioned the loudness and then suggested to her I would like to have full reimbursement for my hoagie. She acknowledged the loudness and said all she could do was give us a $5 credit because we OKayed the order initially. I suggested that didn't seem right and she said there was nothing she could do but talk to the owner.
At this point I was beginning to get upset and feeling like I was getting the run around. I told the manager I was getting upset. We went back and forth and I felt like it was going no where but I just couldn't believe she wouldn't do the right thing and simply offer to reimburse us for the hoagie the next time we came in.
I was so frustrated that I started telling her I was a regular customer etc... and if they wanted to lose my business over something like this because this was the best they could do then I guess I would have to live with that. Lindsey was her name and she seemed nice enough but just not very aware of how to handle the situation; unless she truly was handcuffed by the owners. Wow - why hire a manager who can't do the right thing. Our order each week is at least $32 dollars and they are willing to piss that income away for something so simple to fix. It seems silly but maybe they have so many customers that one more family doesn't really matter.
BURNT CRUST AND A MANAGER THAT HANGS UP ON YOU – I dont recomend this pizza joint to anyone, after receiving my small house special pizza and biting into it I realized the crust was burnt and hard as a rock, I called the manager and she said she would send out a new one, I gave the old pizza to the dog and waited for the new pizza, when the delivery guy showed up he wouldnt give me the pizza without the old one. I called the manager back to ask why she didnt tell me they would want the burnt one back and she hung up on me, I immediatly called her back to tell her thats no way to treat customers and i wanted to call the carbones main office to report her, she says her brother owns the place and theres nothing I can do about it. with half a dozen pizza joints in town I really think they could do better then this, I will never buy anything from them again and i hope the go under like alot of places before them.
Here we go again with rosemount pizza places. – Burgers yes!
Pizza no well for the exception of the crust which has a minimal mount of potential.
Loud music cant even here myself try to enjoy my food.
The drinks well lets not get started.
Watered-down drinks – The music is far from exceptional, and the volume makes it difficult to hold any conversations. While at McDivot's with a large group, at least 5 people (including me) commented on the watery drinks. For the price you pay, the drinks aren't worth it! I would not recommend McDivot's.
Our local favorite – McDivot's is a great place for a laid-back meal, especially early or on a weeknight, avoiding loud music and smoke. Service is usually good, but spotty, especially if you get a new waiter. The menu is pretty big, and the burgers are great. They'll make your meal to order, and you can ask for substitutions. The down side: the non-smoking section is right next to tables where people are allowed to smoke, so you may not be able to get away from the smoke. If you go when it's not crowded, the smoke usually isn't too bad, though. Later in the evening, you may find loud music, but it's not too loud during supper time. We love McDivot's for relaxed meals close to home, and have taken out-of-town guests a couple times. I would recommend McDivot's to anyone looking for a good meal at a casual place in the area.
Irish Pub or Hip-Hop Joint? – A couple of friends and I stopped in for a few drinks one evening and left after just a few minutes. A DJ was blasting some hip hip so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. This place needs to decide what it wants to be -- a local pub where people can relax and talk over drinks or a trendy dance bar. (hint: no one seemed to be dancing, just covering their ears...)
McDivot's Get A Hole In One! – McDivot's is a fun sports bar with plenty of TV's to watch sports. Great food, which is reasonably priced, the same with their drinks. McDivot's is clean and kept up very nicely. There really aren't any bad things to say about the bar, it's servers, food, or ambiance. Karaoke a couple nights a week, dancing on others, it's a great place to go out and meet great local people or have a party for friends. I would recommend McDivot's to anyone!
