Uncooperative, unfriendly, obstructive staff – I tried to eat lunch there at 11:00 a.m. The restaurant was almost completely empty as the lunch rush hadn't started. I wanted to sit at a booth and was told in no uncertain terms that sitting alone at a booth was forbidden. I told the hostess I would go eat somewhere else and she replied, "OK. Goodbye."

I was there to eat lunch for about twenty minutes and read the sports section. There were several additional empty booths in case a sudden rush of customers descended. Either the employee just couldn't make a judgment call to retain a customer, or she was unreasonably bound by overly rigid instructions. Either way, the restaurant lost this customer forever and I recommend that everyone else avoid the place. There are many other places within a short walking distance to grab a quick lunch.

Old School Diner – For those who work in the Downtown Saint Paul area, you'll find it convenient to find the Four Inns on the skyway system. This restaurant has the look and feel of an old school - classic dinner with bar stools and all.

Word on the street is that this was an excellent restaurant before it got bought out a year or so ago. Although the new ownership may still be green, I was still delighted by the classic diner setting. You even get a dinner roll with your meal. The food was surprisingly decent. Being a vegetarian at the time, I was challenged to find a meal here, but the simple salad was quite tasty.

A secret tip is that after 2pm one can take out leftover pie for $1.
