Has anyone ever left hungry? – Six of us ate (or fed) here on 29 Jan. Four of us have extensive experience with Italian food, from cheap eateries to fine dining. This would rate quite low - in about the 10th percentile. Not that it wasn't edible or that it tasted outright bad; rather, the only distinguishing feature about this place is the inexplicably enormous portions for the entrees, prices of which were very low ($12.25 for the three or four serving largest entree). I suppose the idea is that people who have simply never had a good marinara or pomodoro sauce and who, having spent little, want leftovers for the next few days, will come here and like it. That's fine; there should restaurants for such people. Some specifics about the food: The ubiquitous fried calamari, which was surprisingly not defiled by the tomato sauce, while edible, was one of the worst versions of it we've had - tough with an oddly-tasting batter. The mozzarella sticks consisted of tasteless cheese and alleged bread which had taken on the consistency of the cheese itself, accompanied of course by the multipurpose tomato sauce. The house Chianti was rose-colored water. The salad which came with the entree was fine, as was the waitress. It's hard to argue against large portions, but quantity does not equal quality. That tomato sauce is inferior to virtually any jarred or canned version found in grocery stores. One does not have to spend big bucks at a place such as I Nonni to eat good Italian. There are many, many better options than Yarousso. Tell yourself to spend a very few dollars more for far better pasta, and eat something else for leftovers. Oh yes, the bread offered when people are seated: The worst I've ever had at an either a real or faux Italian restaurant. It had the texture and taste of Wonder Bread. A disgrace.

This place makes The Olive Garden look good – Because this resturant is family owned, and is part of the neighborhood cutlure there is one thing they do well. They know their guests, and they make them feel special. Maybe they make them something special and give it to them for free or maybe they sit down and swap stories. This is what they do well. Outside of that, I would not suggest this place.

The sauce is not that good, the people that crave it usually are lower class people or they have been eating there since childhood. Sometimes both. I get the impresion that the people that love this place have probably never travelled outside the midwest and think the Olive Garden is fine dining Italian. If you don't even like Olive Garden, you will hate this place. The atmospheres is tacky, the uniorms of the servers outdated, and the food is cheap and not that good. Some items on the menu are downright scary like the chicken. The kitchen and prep areas are not very clean and updated(I have been downstrairs) so that along makes me a little leary of some of the items.

It you want a cheap adventure to the East SIde of St.Paul, this would be a cheap recession adventure. Just don't order the chicken.

What's that taste? – Checked out Yarusso's for the spaghetti and meatball special on a Sunday night. We had a friend in from out of town and gave him the option. He chose this over another place (I like the other one better). I was extremely disappointed! It must be me. Everyone was lapping the sauce up with the bread. I think they['ve got a wierd tasting sauce. It's something I'm not crazy about. The service was friendly and good, but I was very shocked by the sauce - the sauce is on everything of course - and it was too late to change my order. Thanks but no thanks.

Everything about this place is great! – The people who wrote poor reviews of Yarusso Bros would probably be happier at The Olive Garden. And, it turns out, that's probably where they belong. Try the Da go sandwich sloppy with cheese, you won't regret it.

Hasn't changed much – I went there as a kid and I loved it. I still go once in a while to reminisce, I love it.

Good Quick Lunch – Stopped in for lunch with a friend. We were seated promptly. We had our food in less than five minutes. How is that for a quick lunch. We both at the salad and spaghetti. The salad was basic, which I enjoyed. The food was good. Nice Italian boy waiter. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes.

YUCK!! – Been there done that. Wow how can Italtian food taste so cruddy? I tell ya!! First be sure to use the cheapest food product available, then make the most bland suace, some really crappy atmosphere and VOILA!! there you have it some of the worst tasting Italian food in the worst ambience known to man.

Real Food, Real People – This place is about as authentic as you can get. Everything is homemade and the sauce is a family secret - it's the best and has a lot of flavour. Great for families - it's cheap and the portions are huge. Giant mixed drinks!

A great gem with a friendly local atmosphere! It's everything that Buca wishes they could be - real sauce, real people and a real value!
