Love the Place and dont plan on going anywhere else! – 526 Salon is an absolutly fabulous place! I have been going to the salon for about a year now and everytime is always a wonderful experience. You walk in and are greeted by the receptionist who takes your coat and offers you a selection of teas, coffee, hot cocoa, water or EVEN WINE! My stylist Katrina is Amazing...everytime I have an appointment she sits me down and asks me what I would like done and we discuss the cut the color the everything. The end result is always the best! She also lets me know exactly what she uses to style my hair so I can style it myself at home as well! 526 Salon also carries Bumble to Bumble products which I truly find to be the best products for me and I have also gotten many of my friends to use the products too! I think you all should give the place a try the atmosphere the people and even the Gallery in back is one of a kind!
Wonderful Experience Every Time – After going to 526 a couple of times, I plan on sticking with it! My stylist, Pamela, is excellent: she does GREAT consultations when I go in for a cut or color, and she goes above and beyond to make sure I'm satisfied with the results. It's a very relaxing yet professional environment; you get wine, coffee, or tea while you get beautified, and the indoor space is nice and airy, not cramped at all.
I highly recommend this salon, as you can see. I have always been very satisfied with my hair, and Pamela has always been very flexible and able to answer all of my questions. I feel that all the stylists here want me to look good when I leave at least as much as I do! The overall experience makes me feel very pampered and relaxed.
Too Bad – I recently tried this salon for the first time and like a few other people on here, it was not what I was expecting. While they may have a gallery, which is great but I am there for a haircut, it was not the level of service I was expecting based on how the salon looked. Its too bad I was really looking forward to my appointment but I left feeling like I was a bother to their staff...
I LOVE this salon! – I have been going to 526 for a while now and have seen a variety of stylist's. I recently went to Pamela for my haircut, she is a stylist in training there, and a former receptionist. She was so helpful, she took her time and made sure I was more than pleased with my cut. I have naturally very thick hair and she was able to thin it out and give it shape at the same time! The best part is she only charges $20!!!!! The salon is breath taking, and I had a chance to check out the gallery, where I met Stephen. He is the gallery director and was so kind and so informative about the pieces on display. Overall, I would recomment 526 to anyone, I'm going to tell all my friends to go there and think anyone who needs a salon makeover or just wants to try someone/something new shouldnt pass up!
Walked down the street =( – I just went in for a simple updo for my friends wedding, the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude, they were nearly 30 minutes behind, and seemed like I was just more of a hassle, than a customer. I ended up having to leave, nearly in tears because it was my best friends wedding later that day and I looked like I had a poodle on my head!!! Thank god I was able to get in at Root, they squeezed me in, I NEVER WILL EVER GO BACK TO 526!
Brought to tears... – Over the past year I've been looking for a stylist because my past stylist retired. I thought I'd check out "526" which is just around the corner from my new place. I made sure I went to an experienced person, Kristal. I thought I was in good hands. Don't get me wrong, Kristal was very nice, pleasant, I thought she understood what I wanted, the "Jennifer Aniston" color, highlights... caramels, honeys... "natural" highlights. I get this look all the time. After highlights/color went on I was set under the "heater". She said when it turns off I'll still need to sit for a while, she never checked on me once (she was busy cutting another customer's hair) finally she came to wash it out & then she said she needed to go get "toner???" or something to work around the edges. We went back to her chair and I saw brown hair with bright white highlights staring back at me, she started doing the cut (a graduated, textured bob). Eventually I stopped her & said I had a pit in my stomach about my "grey" highlights, she said maybe I just think it looks like that because the color is darker than before & it stands out!! She tells me it doesn't matter how long highlights are developing. Wrong! She tried to fix it, so now I'm strawberry blonde with some highlights that have a greenish hue. I said I think I'm just going to have to start all over, she wasn't even going to blowdry me OR finish my cut until I asked. Now the salon has closed & her family is waiting, so do you think I got the cut I wanted? hardly. She said I can call this week to come in & she or someone else can work on making it right, needless to say I still walked out of there paying $125 plus tip.. she "comped" the color.
The stylist had way too many things on her plate, was 15 min. behind schedule when she got to me & did not listen at all to what I wanted & then tried to act like nothing was wrong with it??? Awful.
P.S. I did get a wonderful facial earlier in the day with Amanda, absolutely wonderful!
Average Salon – Generally an average salon however some of the stylists are very rude. My friends had an awful experience getting their updos for a wedding and were really disappointed with the service.
Trendy salon, friendly and talented stylist – I walked in the door for my scheduled appointment 15 minutes early. I had to wait about 5 minutes at the desk for someone to get there, but when the receptionist did, she was very polite and offered me something to drink while I wait (she was probably just in the restroom). My stylist, Jennifer came to the waiting area to get me right on time if not just a minute or two early for my appointment. She was very nice and professional. I really enjoyed that she took ample time to talk with me about plans for my hair cut and how it was going to grow out into another great style. She really asked great questions to find out what I liked and had in mind, and even presented me with a notebook of hairstyles asking me to point of characteristics of cuts that I liked. She washed my hair giving me an relaxing scalp massage, and then gave me the exact cut we had decided on. She blew it out and styled it, recommending of course the bumble and bumble products she used, sold there at the salon. But, I will say she was good about it, not too pushy, and I decided to buy a styling product because of what it did to my hair and how she took to time to show me how to use it, not because I felt pressured. She walked me to the desk and helped me to schedule an appointment with the receptionist in 6 weeks time. I highly reccommend this salon, and in particular Jennifer. You'll leave with a great cut and style and feel great!
Amazing Spa! – I am a very visual person & 526 is a so pleasing to the senses. Because 526 has an art gallery in the back there are well placed & fitting pieces of artwork throughout the salon area. The product displays are beautiful. They are wonderfully organized & presented ? they are pieces of art themselves. 526 carries Bumble products and Dermalogica skincare. If you haven?t used either you are seriously missing out. I hated doing my hair & washing my face ? but with these products it is fun because you know they work. The staff really works hard to make sure you get the products you need &guarantee you will be satisfied.
The staff working the reception area is exceptional. They are always quite busy but still greet you with a smile & offer you something to drink while you wait. Each time I?ve come in there has been someone checking in or out ahead of me & they always make a point to smile and let me know they will be with me in a moment.
I?ve had 2 facials @ 526 and both were with Alicia. She is FABULOUS. The facials were the perfect balance of education (on treating problem areas) & relaxation. I?ve had several facials at other spas &I always walk out looking a little rough. The glow of the newly pampered skin doesn?t come until a few hours or a day later. After each facial with Alicia my face looked amazing as soon as I sat up from the table. Alicia is extremely knowledgeable. I loved that she wasn?t just trying to push products to help but really told me what exercises, relaxation techniques &vitamins would be helpful for my skin. She really listened to what I thought were my problem areas too. My facials were the best spa experiences hands down (they beat all past facials, massages, pedi or mani) I highly recommend a facial with Alicia!
Today I had a massage with Amy Jo -She did a wonderful job of relaxing my muscles & really working my tense neck, shoulder & upper back. She was friendly. I can?t wait to go back & get another massage in Aug!
Good stylist but unprofessional salon – When I showed up at the salon for the first time, the woman at the front desk said I had an appointment with a different stylist than I requested. I believe I was switched to a newer stylist because she wasn't busy. Even though I requested a specific stylist when I made the appointment (due to recommendations on Citysearch), the woman at the front desk didn't seem to think that it mattered that they had switched me to a different stylist and hadn't even called to ask if this way ok. After talking with front desk coordinator for some time and them checking that the stylist I had originally had appointment with had time, I finally got in with the stylist I had scheduled the appointment with. (But while waiting for the person at the front desk to work everything out, the newer stylist called my name for the appointment and since they had not informed her about the situation and were not available to tell her since she was talking to the other other stylist at the time, I had to inform the newer stylist about the situation myself, which was very awkward.) Once I met the stylist I had requested for the appointment and she cut my hair, I was very happy with her personality and the results so I overlooked my initial experience and continued going to the same hair stylist. Months later the stylist left the salon. No one called from the salon to let me know about this, and the appointment was not rescheduled with another stylist either. Fortunately, I happened to call the day before to double check on the time of my appointment, and I was told she was no longer at the salon. The woman said they had called everyone to let them know. I asked what telephone number they had for me, and it happened to be with the wrong area code, which I knew I had given to them correctly. The girl didn't apologize, was rude and didn't suggest another stylist at the salon. Overall, I was happy with the stylist, but I was not impressed at all with the salon and would not go back.
