It was not like any other facial I have had. At the beginning of every facial I've always answered questions about my skin and what I wanted out of my facial. This facial she just started and didn't explain why she was putting what on my skin. My skin tends to get greasy and at the end of my facial my skin was incredibily greasy she must have used product for naturally dry skin (which I don't have). They describe the Element Nature Facial as a customized facial based on your skin type but I was never asked what my skin type is and I don't see how she would know what my skin type was in the dark room I was in? So all in all I would never return to this salon.
Groupon – I had a groupon for a manicure & pedicure. The experience was one of the worst I've had. I think it was her first time doing a mani/pedi. I could have done a better job. I can't image paying full price for this treatment. Actually the price of the groupon was too much!
Misleading Crowd Cut voucher results in a half hour facial – I purchased a crowd cut deal for a calming facial. The price was great for $30 and when I bought it I was expecting to get a 1 hour facial which is usually the norm(It did not say anything about the duration in the voucher). Even when I called to schedule the appointment they never mentioned anything about how long the facial would be. This place is about half hour from my house and as I am getting my facial is when I am informed that the calming facial is only for a half hour . I felt like I was completely misled, if I'd known this was only a half hour facial I would have never bought it. I left the place feeling completely dissatisfied and cheated.
Don't judge by outward appearances. – I purchased a 'coupon' and then read the reviews, so I wasn't expecting much. Yes the building is old, but it was clean, I had NO trouble at all scheduling, everyone was pleasant, and a I got a great haircut and eyebrow wax! Thanks, Ashley, it was fun talking to you!
Disappointing Experience – I try new places for therapeutic massages, in the hopes of finding a 'favorite' place. It is just my opinion, but here is what the experience was like as a first-time customer of Colleen and Company Aveda Spa in Roseville. Though I am hesitant to visit hair salons that offer massages (in my experience, most are too noisy), I was looking forward to visiting this locale since 'Aveda' was in its name. Upon my arrival a few minutes early, however, there were clues that this salon was not going to live up to the Aveda name. The building was small, old, tacky rooms (compared to other Aveda salons). No employee was at the front desk, so I had to wait for check-in, even though there were employees standing around, checking the computer that was at the end of the counter (which also seemed unprofessional; that's what a receptionist does). I was not summoned for my appointment until 15 minutes after its scheduled start time. During this time, I used the restroom, which was closet-size, smelly, and sloppily painted. As I was taken to the 'massage room', that was another disappointment. It was upstairs in a former bedroom of the old house -- southernly facing, no less, so it was bright and sunny, which is not conducive to a relaxation massage -- neither was the window air conditioner that was two feet away and blew onto my head during the entire massage. Aesthetics aside, I figured maybe the massage itself would be what was worth the cost of the massage. Wrong! Anyone who has had a massage, knows that the technique is what makes a massage relaxing and enjoyable. The therapist had inconsistent, too-slow movements, and then at the end of each stroke, would just stop and hold her hands on the limb being massaged. A massage should be steady, slow, even strokes of MOVEMENT! Even with my eyes closed, trying to block out the bright light in the room, it was hard to relax and 'get in the zone'. The warm towel that was applied to my back did not help, because unlike other massages, this one was too wet and was left on so long, that it was uncomfortable because it was cold by the time she removed it. I know I couldn't wait for this experience to end, but I didn't think that my 1-hour massage would end after 45 minutes from the time I left the reception desk! But it did. And then there were the incidentals that I noticed after the massage was over. Not only was there no mirror in the room to enable the client to be presentable once they are finished with the massage, but also, my sandals that were under a chair had massage oil dripped all over them! My impression after this massage was that the company only had 'massage' on its service list as a way to get extra money, not because it was a 'service' where someone pays for experience or talent. In fairness, the therapist was nice, but the overall experience was not what I expected. Contrary to what someone posted on another site, I and the others below who gave one-star reviews does not mean affiliation with a competitor. I have no doubt that the people who work at the salon are nice people; this was a personal opinion of a business experience, not personalities. A 'review' means to give an opinion of an experience, and that is what I (and others) did. Thank you.
Neighborhood Gem – This little Aveda salon has class and charm. I have been there for hair, nails, massages and facials. I have NEVER been disappointed. The staff is incredible, they are seasoned and really know their stuff. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Great Salon – Thank you Rachael for the beautiful color and cut you gave me. I have recieved rave reviews!
Don't Bother – I am writing to share with the management of this Spa my experience on Saturday with a mani and pedi service.
I have to be honest, I was/am so disappointed in what I experienced, it is with great restraint that I write this email.
Here's my first time customer experience with Colleen and Company AVEDA SPA.
I purchased a Crowd-Cut coupon for Spa Mani and Pedi for $40 - 60% off the normal price. I am a spa junkie, so I snapped this offer up immediately, and told some friends about the offer as well. I called and was told that the receptionist was out and they took my number and said she would call back, she never did, so I called again, by this time I could not get an appointment for two weeks unless I went in the weekday.
My friend was able to get in the upcoming weekend. And reported back to me that she would not go back again. I was thinking well they probably just got overwhelmed with responses so by two weeks they will be back to normal.
I arrived at the spa, 10 minutes before my appointment, there must have been some storm damage or remodeling going on because there was plywood on the floors and windows boarded up with plywood also, Not very impressed there. After waiting a half an hour, I was informed that maybe I should reschedule because the gal doing my services was running behind, I asked how long it would be they said about 15 minutes, so I chose to wait, another 20 minutes goes by and the technician comes out and asked me to rescheduled because she had another appointment at 2:30, I told her I had already been waiting an hour, and did not want to reschedule, she then told me she would do what she could. I found the selection of nail polish very limited and ended up getting some sally Hanson nail polish the technician had brought with her from home.
My nails only really needed painting, but it took her 45 minutes to give me a manicure, because she kept getting up and disappearing for 5 - 10 minutes at a time, and was way too busy complaining to the other girls about how over worked she was.
Now it was time for my pedicure, which I needed badly, it took 20 minutes for her to set up the foot tub, apparently the technician before did not clean it out and my technician was not happy about that and had to let everyone know about it. The 2:30 appointment had not shown up yet and that made me happy for her. As I set down in the chair, the next appointment showed up, After arguing with the two gals at the front desk about having that girl rescheduled, apparently it was decided that she should do two pedicures at once, which made the technician angry and she had to let everyone know how that made no sense. The she pulled my feet out of the water - slapped some lotion on my feet, and painted my toe nails. I did not receive a pedicure or a spa pedicure. I am appalled by the service I received, I wasted three and half hours at the "spa",
I waited an hour and spent an hour and a half listening to the nail technician have a melt down and not perform services as expected. I have had a full set of nails or a nail fill and a pedicure before that takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. After I left Colleen and Company, I went to another place to get a pedicure.
