Don't bother with this place. Went in to replace a broken spoke and true my rear wheel. 2 problems. First, the website price chart say $15. I was charged $20 for service + $1 for a spoke. So maybe they raise the price and haven't update their website, I can live w/ that but the 2nd problem is unacceptable. Second, the wheel is visibly more wobble more than it was before I bring it in. I didn't check before leaving the shop because I figure it's a simple job, how can they screw up but I was so wrong. I like to support small local shop but forget about this place.
Worst Bike and board shop experience possible – Fall 2011, my sister and I was out on a bike ride and since she was having problems with her drive train, and I did everything I possibly could towards adjusting the derailleurs, the problem still persisted so I thought, "hey lets go to Valley since we bought the bikes through them and see how much a new chain would cost or if it can be fixed because it was getting hung up before the chain would do a complete revolution." We entered the store and was greeted 10 minutes later I spoke to repair guy and told him the problem with the chain clinking and I though she needs to replace the chain. He took the bike towards the back and adjusted the derailleurs which I already had. My sister took the bike out for a ride and the problem was still there. So I told him to look at the chain and he comes back and said it was bent so he tweaked it. So we ended up paying 40 plus bucks for him to adjust the derailleurs which didn’t do anything since I already done it myself. His excuse was ohh, I cleaned the gearing system so it part of the service charge. What a joke.
Ended up buying my daughter a new Burton board on clearance from Sports authority and her old binding would not fit due to the fit pattern on the Burton board. Decided to go into Erik’s and see if they could do something with my current Bindings. Spoke with a few sales clerks and was told I couldn’t since it was a different binding and I would need to buy one from their store so it could work with her board. They didn’t bother looking to see if it was possible and just recommend I bought a new binding which were priced really high even on clearance. I ended up leaving and took a drive down to another local shop and told them my problem and the clerk spent about 15 minutes trying to find something that worked. He too was unsuccessful but they attempted to try and showed me the problem and my options. In the end I bought a pair of Ride bindings which was 60% off and I paid 46dollars out the door. The binding Valley was trying to sell on clearance was still over 100.00 dollars and on clearance. What a joke.

So I’m in the market to purchase a road bike. I had $900.00 cash in my pocket and was set on buying a bike. I had found a bike from the Hub cycle located in Minneapolis but they were currently out of stock of the bike I was looking for and told me they could have for me in about a month if I wanted to wait. Since Valley was the only other vender that carries Giant brand bikes, I said to myself, even though I don’t like dealing with this store, I will see if they had the bike there, and if they would do a price match. Wallahh, they had one left and it was in my size, Spoke with one of the clerks and he was pretty nice, seemed new. Told me the bike was on clearance for $899.00 and I asked if he could match the price over at Hub cycle which was 799.00, and he said yes and as long as it shows up online. So we work our way over to the computer and another he ask a more experienced guy about the bike and told him that Hub had the bike for 100.00 cheaper and the guy replies “ yeah right, it must be the lower end bike and I’m sure it’s isn’t that model. I told them just look it up and I ask will you guys match it if it’s on their. Walla, they find the bike and there it was for the price I told them. The older guy looks over and says ohh, we can’t honor that price unless Hub has that bike in stock and I bet Giant won’t be shipping anymore since it is last year’s model. He tells me to hold on and walks to the back to call giant when there was a phone right in front of us. He comes back about two minutes later and says Giant won’t be
Disappointing – The work they did on my bike did not fix the problem I was told it would. When I inquired about a refund, I was offered half because "the work has already been done."
In addition, I was charged more for a different task I asked them to do than I was quoted when I brought the bike into the store.
All but one of the employees I encountered in both my visits seemed uninterested in their job and ready to leave for the day.
There are better local bike shops in Minneapolis and around the Twin Cities. The longer drive is certainly worth it.
I wont go anywhere else – I brought my bike into Eriks to get a basic issue fixed. Eriks "fixed it" and I went on my way. The only problem was, it happened again! I went back there 3 times, paying over $100 each time to get it fixed. Went I went to valley the experience was great. I got a very smart employee, they fixed it quickly, they charged half of what eriks charged, and it was done in a day. I was so impressed, I came back to buy my new bike, skis, and winter-wear.
I will never go anywhere else.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE – I am VERY disappointed with Valley Bike and Ski...
Here's what happened...
A few weeks ago I had called Erics Bike Shop about getting a Yakima roof-rack and installed. Apparently, they are not authorized to assist people in assembling them. I can understand this (liability reasons I assume), so I thought I would see if there was a store out there that did.
So I called Valley Bike and Ski and they told me that they would install it/help. I thought GREAT! Well, when we went down there and started gathering all the different parts we needed for the car, I'm telling the sales associate about how we are going through them because Erics doesn't help or assemble it (and that I would be really nervous about doing it ourselves). Well, AFTER we had finalized the purchase, he tells me that they are tooo busy today, but will call later in the day or by monday...this would be fine except that, THEY NEVER DID!!! PLUS, they didn't sell us all of the parts, so my boyfriend had to go back and they didn't even have it, so he had to go to Erics and ended up assembling it himself....
I will never shop there again! You would think for such a small store they would have great customer service... especially with such a big purchase (those roof-racks are EXPENSIVE!) but, think again!
