Great Place for Family Night & Party – I've just moved here in the Woodbury area a few months ago and this is one of my favorite restaurant. The food was fantastic. The Hot Spicy Chicken was spicy but really good. It was spicy but had a tint of sweet to it, which wasn't so bad. The Five Spicy became one of my favorite. These seafood were coated in tempura. I'm do not like the taste of squid but they made it quite tasteful. As for the Chicken Lemon Grass was very delicious. I must say I liked having the sauce mix in the steamed rice. We also had a free order of their Spring Roll as well. Our next visit I ordered Pho and the waitress brought a small dish of bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime, & basil. The broth was tasteful along with the seafood that was in there. My five-year-old daughter enjoyed her kid's meal. The chicken was well cooked and tasted quite juicy. On my daughter's fifth birthday, I had a huge party. The restaurant was nice to let my husband and I bringing in our own foods. I also placed 75 orders of Spring Rolls and 15 orders of customized vegetable stir-fry from the restaurant. The waitresses was helpful to help me set up the party and went around with a large tray of variety of pop, asking our guests if they would like to drink any pop. The waitresses also get coffee and tea for my guest. This one of my successful party I had. When it was 2 PM, the waitresses cleaned up and take care of everything as instructed. I highly recommend this place for parties, for a family night out or on a date. From my experience the waitresses are very polite and helpful and the food is very delicious.

used to be great---now is terrible – Vietnam Restaurant *used* to be one of my family's favorite places to dine in Woodbury--until they sold it and the new owners completely destroyed everything we had appreciated so much. The wonderful, personable service is gone, replaced by indifferent servers who treat their customers more like inconveniences than clients.

The menu is still essentially the same, but the dishes have also lost their homey, delicious qualities. Case in point: I asked my husband to stop on his way home to pick up an order I placed. We received the wrong dishes, the dishes were lukewarm and the spice level was non-existent (even though I had requested and my husband confirmed upon pick-up that we had asked for "extra spicy"). Worse, the dish I did end up with had overcooked, limp, old vegetables, and all flavors that might have otherwise been present in the dish were completely overshadowed by a mass of over-sauteed onions and celery. A call to the restaurant did not fix anything.

Take my advice, if you were a fan of the old Vietnam Restaurant, make a trip up to Maplewood and Vietnam Star, the restaurant that the former owner of Vietnam Restaurant (Nancy) and her sister run near Maplewood Mall. It won't disappoint you. In the meantime, don't bother with Vietnam Restaurant Woodbury--unless the old owners step back in and whip things into shape. Until that time, our dining dollars will go elsewhere.

Used to have great food... but not now! – My wife and I have enjoyed great meals at Vietnam Restaurant in Woodbury for several years. But I was totally disappointed last evening. They have always had terrific eggrolls and this wonderful "Five Spicy Seafood" that had a light tempura like coating and a spicy kick, which I have ordered many times. So we went there this evening and was shocked! Our order took over forty five minutes before it was delivered, and the fish had a greasy heavy batter, that was sweet, not spicy. My wife ordered chicken egg foo young that normally has cubes of chicken sprinkled over the top as well as slices of green onion... there was NO chicken anywhere... she took the patties apart, no meat of any kind. We had ordered eggrolls as an appetizer (which were fine) but now both our meals were totally unnacceptable for a $40.00 price. I complained to the waitress that this was not the quality of the food we had come to expect from this restaurant, and without any word, she went and got another woman to come out and talk to me. She seemed totally indifferent to my complaint, and I asked if they were under new management or had a new chef, she told me "we have new chef just this night". I told her we did not want this food, nor were we willing to wait another 45 minutes for another order, to which she charged us just for the eggrolls we had as we were not going to eat the meals. I was made to feel that I was just a complainer, and she seemed not the least bit concerned nor apologetic, and n ever offered any recompense. I feel I will never...ever.... return to this restaurant!!

Great food – The food at The Vietnam Restaurant is what keeps me going back. They have a large variety of Thai food and it is reasonably priced. The Pho is fantastic and spring rolls too. The service is average. If you frequent this place you tend to get preferential treatment, so be patient if you visit for the first time. The food is worth it.

First time at Vietnam Rest. – This was our first experience with Vietnamese cooking. The Pho was good, the chicken curry tasted fresh (though a little short on chicken) and the wontons were average. Service was somewhat poor, no one checked back after we received our food. The restaurant was freezing-I kept my coat on throughout the meal. I stopped by again last night to get some Pho to go, and felt that the service was again quite poor. I waited at the desk behind another customer, and when he left I stepped to the desk to order my food. A couple walked in and was immediately recognized by the staff member. She ignored me and immediately helped them with their order, which was complicated by the request that she "separate" the bill. The staff person never adressed me, though I was standing there waiting (and was the only other customer there), so I walked out.
