I had taken my car for repair to a Burnsville AAMCO dealer and was told I needed a new transmission costing $1900 plus what they called “hard parts”. When I asked what hard parts were, I was told it could be an additional $300 for a torque converter and hardware which I approved. When I went to pick-up my car the repair bill was now $3360 or more than 40% what I was quoted! The dealer told me I was not called for the additional amount because a “new guy forgot to call me to approve the repair”. The dealer did give me a discount of $225 but this is still far from the original quote. I was also told the car needed a new catalytic converter, rear struts and was “running rough”. I paid the bill and left as fast as I could.
I placed a claim with the MN State Attorney’s office but they can only request the AAMCO dealer to voluntarily respond unless other people have had similar experiences so contact their web site if you too have had this happen to you. I have also sent my complaint to AAMCO national office.

Thank you for saving me money!! – When I found myself dealing with the possibility of either a new car, or having my transmission rebuilt I was sick to the tummy. My car is an Acura with only 93,000 miles on it. This isn't supposed to happen this early in the cars life, but it did. Jon and Steve at Aamco Burnsville Transmission gave not only gave me the pros and cons of both decisions, but when I decided to have it rebuilt, they saved me nearly one thousand dollars from what the dealership had estimated. Their work was done in a timely manner, and I now have my car back and running fabulous. Recently I had another question about my car, and I was able to call Jon and get his advice yet again. I feel comfortable knowing I finally have a reliable mechanic in my area who will treat me fairly and with respect. I will pass their info onto any one of my friends who may have an issue with their car. Thank you guys!
Poor customer service – Unfortunately, we had terrible customer service with Aamco.
