Un-Minnesotan – I have been to the Original Pancake House (OPH) many times since its inception (during the Gucci years) in the Twin Citie's Metro area - it was originally paired with MyPie (Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza) restaurants. I sorely miss MyPie - that crunchy charred garlic cheese bread - ohhh! OPH menu offerings are not for treaditional Minnesotans or sensible country palates. If you wish to order a traditional breakfast, you need to cut and paste a'la cart until you are over 12.00. OPH is for people who hate the loving comforts of a country homestyle traditional breakfast. All you need to do is look around the place to pickup on the stereotype patronage that it attracts; they would fashionably blush if a Fat Nats breakfast were laid down in front of them.

Made-to-order breakfasts---including over a dozen unique flapjacks---stack the odds in this restaurant's favor. – In Short
Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

Allergies – Please be aware if you have any peanut allergies that everything that is made on the griddles, pancakes, waffles, french toast is all made in peanut oil. I find this very alarming as many parents may not be aware that children may be allergic. They have a very small notice in the menu but I missed it the first two times I visited the restaurant and since we have learned of this we have not returned

Why is everyone fooled? – I have been to this restaurant three times. Two were disasters, the third was average. The food on the first two occasions were sub-par. On the first trip I ordered a salad with vinegar and oil and was given white vinegar.

Ambiance is average. The food is over-priced

Food that's Worth any Wait – Excellent food and definately worth the wait (I window shop or read the paper). The bacon is some of the best I've ever had, huge serving sizes and the Mexican Omlette is superb! This location is a well run restaurant, fun atmosphere and great service. I highly recommend a visit,

Org Pancake House – The food and service are great, IF you can get in. Usually there is a long wait, but then that speaks for itself.
