fast service, wonderful food- all around great! – I have never walked through the door of this place and seen it empty! The line generally is to the door, which can't be bad! You walk in, wait in a line to order, and they bring your order to your table- if you can't find a table they will generally take time time to help you find something. This is not a place to go and take your time, it's a place to go in, eat, and get out. They serve excellent and delicious breakfast and also lunch- i have never been in during dinner hours. If you are in the uptown area, stop in for a bite or a bowl of soup on a cold winter day!!

This popular restaurant offers a haven from fast food, smoky grills and loud eateries. – In Short
The mellow staff and muted decor--gray stone tiles and earth-tone walls--set the tone of this Lyn-Lake eatery. It caters to vegetarians and vegans, so everything is fresh and healthful. The flexible kitchen can add chicken to the quesadillas, already packed with cheese, spinach and mushrooms, for surprisingly thrilling results. Mop up creamy tomato basil soup with homemade bread or slurp up the cool melon soup. The bakery's desserts range from simple to outrageous--Butterfinger cheesecake, anyone?

Best Vegetarian/organic in Town! – Terrific food, great service, great ambiance.

Best stuff: 1/2 price wine on saturday night!

Interesting and creative menu w/ tasty veggie options (I love the tempeh and fish offerings!)

Great service!-I dont know what others have been complaining about,

I've been going there for 5 years and never had a problem!

Great home-made breads

Had many a romantic dinner here.

The not so great:

Good breakfasts, but WAY too noisy. I stopped going for breakfast because I couldnt hear myself think!

Deserts: not so good. Funny that their breads and foods are great! But the deserts always taste kinda stale

and overly sweet and uninspired to me.

(Check out "Patricks Bakery for some really yummy pastries!)

Too bad Lyndale ave is so busy, I'd love to sitoutside, but dont like breathing car exhaust.

Very Good Breakfast – breakfast here is awesome, ambiance a bit sterile but I think that is due to the cafeteria style seating. The service is efficient and good. The menu is a bit hard to read (on the walls behind the counters) for us old timers, but the choices are wonderful. Will be back soon.

skip dinner - go for breakfast – I've been here a few times for breakfast and it's always good. It gets really busy though. The bacon and egg croisant sandwich is fabulous. I just went for dinner with my fiance and we both agreed it was only average, and too expensive for what you get. The miso salmon was too salty and didn't have much flavor; the chicken fettucine was also bland. The portions weren't very large for $18, and the service wasn't that great, just average.

So to sum it up - go for breakfast and you won't be dissapointed, but dinner isn't worth it.

Great Dinner Menu – French Meadow's dinner has come along way, especially for vegans and fish lovers. We recently had an amazing risotto with acorn squash and shiitake mushrooms. My companion had their pasta special, and apparently they make their own pasta.

So glad I went! – On a hot, muggy Saturday night my boyfriend and I were both hungry for something light. After reading about French Meadow Bakery on CitySearch, we decided to give it a try and we were both very happy that we did! We were seated at a quaint little table outdoors where we could take in all the activity on Lyndale. Parking was no problem, there is a small lot next to the place and plenty of free spaces on the street. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer and both had the greek salad with a glass of wine that the waiter recommended (which was excellent). All the ingredients were very fresh with a lot of flavor. We were too stuffed for dessert, but if their desserts are anything like their breads, I'm sure they are delicious! Perfect place for a relaxed date, we'll definitely go back.

This Meadow is Cow Friendly – True carnivores will go hungry here as there is no red meat in sight. Went for a Saturday dinner and the place was packed. Nice wine selections for a small list and the half price deal on Sat nite rocks! The noise level is high so there will be no intimate interludes here but the food was great, even better than Cafe' Brenda but in the same style. (Oddly there is not much in the way of French anything here) The miso salmon was outstanding in every way. Desserts were very well done. Service was average but friendly. If you are a picky eater, this is probably not the hot spot for you for dinner unless you are really into organic/vegan types of cuisine.

Great Variety – I stopped in looking for a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon. It was a good decision. Quite a large selection of different foods such as sandwiches, soups, and salads. Deserts looked great as well. I got the turkey and bacon crossant, and it came with chips and salsa which was a pleasant surprise. It is pretty much like a Culvers as far as service. You order at the counter, you are given a placard (which takes the place of a number) and then the food is brought out to you, so dont expect to be waited on. Definately worth a look.

Major Bummer – I had been excited to try this place for some time. However, the food was terrible and the service wasn't great. The belgium waffle I had was rock hard. I couldn't even saw through it with the knife (maybe they should serve a steak knife with it). They were also out of clean coffee cups and spoons. You can get so much more at other restaurants that actually provide service and better food for less money and in less time. I was bummed.
