Horrible customer service – My husband and I had part of our wedding registry at Ampersand, so we (and our family and friends) spent a good bit of money at their store. Nevertheless, the sales staff was rude each time we went in. I felt patronized and unimportant to the staff; they asked me questions with raised brows when I requested information about my registry instead of helping me with issues. A couple of times, they seemed to be harder at work helping people over the phone than they were helping me in person.
I do NOT enjoy going into the store.
Friendly sales associates, excellent health and beauty products – This is an excellent store with so many wonderful goodies, though a bit pricy. The part of the store that I frequent is called the apothecary and has makeup, hair, and skin products that are some of the best health and beauty products out there. They are one of only two stores (Nordstrom's being the other) in the Twin Cities that carries the Shu Uemura line. This is one of my favorite makeup and skin care lines and tops other department store makeup brands with their strong pigments, staying power, color range, and overall quality. The women that work in the apothecary are extremely friendly and welcoming every time I go in there. They are also excellent makeup artists and very knowledgeable. Definitely check this area out!
rude elderly sales clerks – The store has your typical, pricey, home accessories. However, I would not recommend visiting this store and I have no intentions on returning due to the rude customer service. While shopping, I was followed around the store by a snoopy, elderly sales clerk. At one point, I turned around and she was making "move along" motions with her hands! I'm not used to being treated this way and, needless to say, I was completely shocked and offended!
Chic gifts, Kiehl's products and fab stationery make this Edina boutique a fave. – In Short
Find boxed fill-in invitations for every event under the sun: birthdays, weddings, showers, anniversaries, barbecues, cocktails. You also can order offbeat personalized announcements, invitations and stationery. Even with all the greeting cards and blank books, paper products take up less than half of the cavernous store. The rest is filled with pricey housewares like Italian pottery and candles, plus scented bath products from New York-based apothecary Kiehl's.
Poor Service, Expensive – I was in the store for almost 15 minutes before sales clerks even acknowledged that I was there, and even then I wasn't greeted. I was only greeted once I picked up an item to see the price... obviously they only bother to "help" you if they see you're interested in something. Even a "hello" would have been nice...
The cards they have are cute, but I didn't like how the barcode was inside on many of them, instead of on the back. They do have many cute things in the store, especially plates, ceramics, and porcelain - but they're *very* overpriced. The one thing that happened to catch my eye was a 3" diameter plastic (melamine likely) plate with a rabbit stamped on it, and I was pretty surprised to see it was $75.
If you want unique stationery or pieces for your table, this is the place to go, but expect poor service and to pay a fortune for it!
