The Best malts – They have amazing fries and so many different malts to choose from! all the malts my co-workers and i have tried we have loved! its cheap too!
This Dinkytown malt shop is as much a part of the University of Minnesota as Goldy Gopher himself. – In Short
Since the restaurant is so appealing to kids, this is the spot where many young ones are introduced to the U--they come to campus for a play or concert, and Mom and Dad feed them here. Juicy burgers, fries and creamy malts are the heart of the menu, and rooftop dining is a plus in nice weather. The hearty Riverside, a signature dish, is an open-faced patty topped with onions, mushrooms and gobs of cheese.
Amazing food, great atmosphere! – The title about sums it up, but to expand a bit: The food is pretty great, they have wonderful fries that come in mega portions that are great for a group to share! Same goes with the malts, they are perfect to share with your date! The family atmosphere makes it a comfortable spot to meet friends and just be together. The prices make this a great value and you can visit Annie's frequently on a college student's budget!
Not great for vegetarians – Although there are a few options for vegetarians, they aren't great. The grilled cheese sandwich was undergrilled. The only requirements for a grilled cheese sandwich is that the cheese is fully melted. It shouldn't have been that hard. The fries are pretty good. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, this is a place to avoid. Even the non-smoking section has a fairly heavy smell of smoke. The smoke section is in an adjacent room with open windows and doors between the two. This should be resolved with the smoking ban in Minneapolis effective in the spring. That probably won't help the food though.
A Dinkytown Landmark – Annie's delicious, juicy burgers, crispy, skin-on fries and succulent malts (especially hot fudge) are to die for. My boyfriend and I had our first date here and regularly come back to stir up memories and indulge in what just might be the best food in town.
