Best Meal & Service We've Ever Had!!. From the Cheese Fondue to the Main Course, Wine and Pear Bread Pudding, it was Heaven. Listen to Jesse H., and not to any of the negative reviews. Better make a reservation to be sure you can have this dining experience, too!
Great Drinks, fun atmosphere. We were not that thrilled with our Palomino visit. It started out great, with friendly bartenders and great Martini's however from there it went downhill. The food was average at best for the price, I must say it would have probably tasted a lot better with decent service. THe customer service was far from friendly (other than the bartenders) and I am regretting leaving a decent tip. I am hoping she was having an off evening. We may try it again, it was a fun atmosphere and great location but they have some work to do.
Boring food, good service. I went here with a friend who had lunched there a few times for interviews, so it came recommended. I now don't trust her palate, because the food here was boring. For the prices it just was not worth it for a lackluster entree. The dessert was boring too, for where it was. I could have gotten as good at Perkins. Our service was attentive but aloof enough, helpful and actually kind. So no complaints there. It just shows you once again that price tag is not always an indication of quality.
Awful food and wine list for an expensive price!. Recently my husband and I took our 8 year old daughter to the Nutcracker Ballet at the Orpheum Theater. I wanted to make this really special for her, so I thought we go out to eat before the show. I made reservations for the Palomino, which is right across from the Orpheum. We got there early so we decided to sit in the bar area and have a drink. Initially I thought the place was very nice; the atmosphere is very cool and pleasing to the eye. However, this all changed as the evening progressed. For anyone who is a wine drinker, they have a terrible wine list (cheap wine for an expensive price). Service was okay, but food was terrible. I had Sea bass ($26), which tasted fishy, and was really bland; my husband ordered the Prawn Scampi ($20), which he did not receive Prawns they were jumbo shrimp, and the pasta it came with was all clumped together and hard in areas. My daughter had steak ($7), and she loved hers (I would have rather had her meal). We ended up spending $130 on an awful meal, and considering I?ve eaten at a lot of up scale restaurants downtown, I won?t ever go back!! (P.S. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review on a restaurant?that?s how upset I am.)
As if the food was not enough, Val made it even better.. Palomino is Perfect. My 5 years of dining there have always been nothing but the best. Sometime we wait a while but hey, thats the city, deal with it. Val is a superb waitress and is an example of This restaraunts fine management and employees. Best Calamari in the twin cities. My Lavender cosmo is always a treat to have there. Thanks Palomino for being so fabulous!!!
Great Service and Food!. Hands down, this is one of the greatest restaurants downtown Minneapolis. The food is phenomonal and the service is outstanding. I would recommend making reservations though. The place is always packed. The atmosphere is great, very diverse. It is also in a great location. The executive chef is great too, gave my bf and I free dessert and wine because it was our anniversary. Check this place out, it's worth it!
Food Excellent - Service Fair.
One of the finest food experiences in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
Unfortunately, the wait staff is average to poor.
A real solution is that after you enjoy some of the best food you will ever have, if the waiter/waitress is poor, give them a lousy tip and tell them why. Then tell the hostess the same. If enough people complain, the bad wait staff will be fired!
A plush, Minneapolis skyway restaurant deftly adds Mediterranean flair to Midwest fare..
In Short
Palomino is nothing if not stunning, from the sumptuous decor to the open kitchen that zings with action. Besides big groups of expense-account folks, there are plenty of amorous couples inside the glittering, chandelier-lit room. The menu features good Midwestern meats, including an aged New York strip loin and a meltingly tender filet mignon (served with ravioli stuffed with Maytag blue cheese). More pricey seafood entrees include crab cakes and classic paella.
TACO BELL.
I hadn't eaten at Palomino for years and I had a luncheon there today.
I had a very disappointing meal and when I shared my opinion with the server, he said - that's too bad.
I had a MUCH better meal for $2.53 at Taco Bell the other night!!!
They Do It All!. I've been going to Palomino for over 10 years, though the menu has changed over the years(a bit more main stream now), the dedication, service and consistency has kept me loyal. The food is always great, the kitchen can really WOW you! Their "feature sheet" continually has fresh upbeat items, the service is personal with much detail, the atmosphere elegant without a dress code. They have been very busy this season (1,500 People a day!) but still deliver! A MUST stop.
