unprofessional work - poor quality – these people have destroyed 2 of my favorite articles of clothing. i gave them a 2nd chance because they offered me $80 in store credit. I should have known better - that eventually they would screw up again. I will never take my clothing here again and if you care about yours you will do the same. There is an old saying in carpentry: "measure twice, cut once" this place could really stand to consider that.
Got my Wedding Barong made here – To all you Pinoys looking for a place to get a nice barong for a formal event or a PCN, this is the place to go. People jocked the wedding barong I had made by Fernando de Manila so much that one of my other buddies got his wedding barong from here too.
Just Really Not Acceptable – I've never written a review for or against anything. I created an account simply to say - I'm baffled by the fact that others have had such a glowing response. I normally have my tailoring work done by Marina at First Class Tailors even though it's far from my home and costs like a hundred bucks at least everytime I'm in there, etc., but these are my clothes y'know...it's worth it. I wear clothes all the time. But in this case, I'm leaving town for an event and simply needed the hem taken up 1/2 an inch on a pair of pants, and wanted to find someplace quick and near my house. It would be difficult to describe the poor workmanship and I'm stymied as to how any tailor could think what was done to my pants is acceptable. The previous hem line is still visible, the chalk mark is still there (admittedly not a huge deal, but in concert with the other stuff - annoying), and most importantly, the new hem was simply sewn higher - not cut and re-sewn - so now the cuff on the pants is like 3 inches high. And it's not even. (Citysearch wouldn't allow me to write cro*ked - hilarious). So...I will be going this morning to purchase another pair of pants and with luck will find a pair that approximately fits in the length. I'm sure they're fine people, but lousy tailors.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - Zero Stars – Please do not use this tailor! I brought my Vera Wang wedding dress here and reception gown, because of the recommendations from Citysearch. The alterations were very poorly done and my dress was almost completly ruined by their work. They even stapled the plastic bag to the tulle of my dress! I had spaghetti straps attached to my reception dress and they were uneven after 2 attempts to fix. Communication is very difficult with Fernando and the rest of his staff. I finally just gave up. I brought both dresses to another seamstress, Lea Jori in Reseda, who did the best job she could to fix it, but I still have to walk down the isle with uneven stitches and asymettric cuts. It's a terrible shame. Please save yourself from the disappointment, and go elsewhere.
Go here! – OK- so I was in deep trouble. I had ordered a dress online for a fancy function on a cruise. I received it two days before departure. It arrived 5 inches too short. Holy cow. Total panic. I called the company that made the dress and they said they couldn't do anything to fix the issue within that 2 day timeframe. So, I went online to find a reputable place that does alterations. I was going to take my dress to the Golden Needle. But after reviewing the comments here on citysearch, I decided I could spare myself the rude treatment. So, I read about this little place- Fernando de Manila- and took a chance. I had no idea what they could even do for me.
Boy did they exceed my expectations. They totally replaced the bottom part of the dress and made it floor length like it was supposed to be. Their work was flawless. They matched everything perfectly- and did it in ONE DAY- I was very worried about the cost- but let me tell you it was extremely reasonable. Take your alterations here and you won't be disappointed. I plan on taking all my stuff here from now on! I never write reviews but I promised myself that if they pulled this job off- I'd have to go online and give them a glowing review. Great place!
Save your clothing...do not go here! – If I could give 0 stars, I would, but this is the lowest rating I can give. I went to Fernando because he was rated the best on Citysearch for tailors. I took my wedding dress and two other dresses to get altered. When I got my wedding dress back, I noticed a few white spots on the wedding dress. The fit was pretty bad as well, as if an amatuer took my dress in. They put hard wiring to mould the bust of the dress which dug into my skin. He told me that the dry cleaners could take the spots out. He altered my dress for $140, which I thought was reasonable, so I did not bother to ask him to cover the dry cleaning. One of the other dresses was taken in crookedly. The other one had the zipper stopper missing, so the zipper came right off the dress! I really didn't put too much thought into the other 2 dresses because I was concerned about the wedding dress. When I got home, I noticed more spots on the dress and promptly took them to the dry cleaners. The cleaners told me that they were bleach stains and could not get them removed...my wedding dress was ruined! I took the dress to 2 other dry cleaners to get the same response from them. This was 3 weeks before my wedding! I called Fernando back several times with no return call. I finally reached him and he told me to bring the dress back so he could take it to his cleaners. So I did. When I returned to pick up my dress, not only was it bleached all over, but the silk looked distressed, like it had been cleaned several times. I told him this was unacceptable for me to wear. He finally relented and promised to reimburse me for the dress. He gave me half of what I bought the dress for and told me to pick up the rest of the payment after our wedding. When we came back for the second half of the payment, he said he had no money, was not going to reimburse me for the alterations he screwed up and to take him to small claims court. So I am.
Best kept secret...but highly recommended – My last tailor died (he was amazing) and I had been hesitant to take my stuff to anyone else. I read the reviews on here and I decided to give him a try. My things were promised back to me in a very short time and they were done as promised AND VERY WELL DONE. I will be back to him and you should too !!!!
hidden in east hollywood-best kept secret – i had a busted zipper replaced on a dress there. they quoted me the cheapest price out of all the local dry cleaners/tailors in the neighborhood, and they didn't even really look at the damage or scrutinize it to assess the cost, like some of the other dry cleaners/tailors. although i had to come back a second time before it was actually done, i think i have found my new neighborhood tailor/dry cleaner! when i returned to pick up my dress, they immediately recognized me, which was nice. no need to show them my receipt. definately worth a try, if you live in the neighborhood.
Best tailor I have used! – He is an excellent tailor, always makes the right recommendation. Best of all, his pricing is superb, you will not find another tailor and dry cleaner with his quality and value!
