Waste Services In The Dumps – Ugh! I have had to call numerous amounts of times to inquire why my subdivision's trash had not been picked up. Also, our neighborhood was not made aware of the new schedule change from two days a week to just ONE day a week. WTF?! I give this company at least 2 stars because my trash always gets picked up----eventually. But overall, my experiences with this company changing over to Allied Waste has been in the dumps. (Pun intended).
Problems with switch from Veolia to Allied – First, I do not remember getting a letter they were switching all our accounts over from Veolia to Allied Waste. We are going on 3 weeks in a row where the recycling has not been picked up. The 1st week, I watched the guy just drive by. Week 2, he picked up only the small green bin. Looked inside the Veolia approved container I had (think smaller rolling trash can) and left it and only took the small green bin. Week 3 (today) we will see. I spraypainted in LARGE ORANGE LETTERS "RECYCLE" if he doesn't pick it up today, I will be pissed. I made a call to the Veolia number and was surprised when Allied answered. I asked why they didn't pick up my Veolia approved recycled container and she said "Allied needs you to write "recycle" on it." It would have been nice to get a letter in the mail explaining the new changes at least. That would be customer service! C'mon people, I cannot read your mind!
Later same day....
Happy to say I watched the recycle truck pull up, dump the small green bin, dump the cardboard box I had out there. He then looked right at the rolling trash can spray-painted in bright orange "RECYCLE" and got in his truck to leave WITHOUT DUNPING IT. I ran outside in my Pajamas, He waved to me and said he only picks up recycling. I said "IT IS RECYCLING. CAN YOU READ?" and pointed to the bright ORANGE letters- RECYCLE, painted on 2 sides and the lid. My god, The fact that I pay $85 every 3 months and have to tell them how to do their job is beyond me.
Problems yet again – So I was on my way down the driveway at 7am this morning with my trash and overflowing recycling bin. As I approached the end of my driveway the recycling truck drove right on by. Figuring the driver saw me putting this out there and being at an intersection in my subdivision that the truck circles around through and figuring the driver would have clearly seen me lugging this goliath bin to the street I didn't think twice about needing to chase the driver down. Only to get home and see that it was left sitting there on the curb. Now I may have been in the wrong for not getting this out until slightly later than normal, but this is far from the first issue I've had with this company. Almost a year after starting services I received a summons from the city for failure to initiate trash service. I contacted the company and they said I had nothing to worry about. Only to find out several months later that I now had to appear in court or have a warrant issued for failure to appear. Needless to say it was eventually cleared up after much grief and frustration on my end. Several months later, and about this time last year I had several water logged rotted (empty) yard waste bags that I had placed in my normal garbage. When I got home later that day they hadn't picked it up. I inquired why with a call to the customer service line and they said becaus I had yard waste in my normal trash. After going through several different reps advising these were merely empty rotted bags I was told that I should take them out and put them into a black plastic garbage bag to avoid this complication in the future ( The morale of this story being advised to "disguise" my garbage or anything that shouldn't normaly go into garbage so it would be picked up without question) I was eventually able to get a manager on the phone who agreed to pick up the trash within a day or so. Not exactly the environmentaly friendly message the company would like to try and promote, nor something I'm sure the landfill owners/municipalities would like to know is being told to customers. I'm not saying that all the employees of this company have issues, but there are definately a few bad apples in the bunch and the seem to continually service the route I'm on.
Disappointed once again....
Pretty Good Service – I have to say I am pretty impressed with these guys. the river I have has a great attitude for a guy who has been working all alone all day when its over a hundred outside. He actually took the time to stop his truck and pick up the trash that blew out of his truck when he went from one house to another. I highly recommend these guys!
Good service – I see so many people putting out their trash after the trashman has gone by and want to blame the company or driver for their own stupidity. The company as with ALL other companies have rules and most people seem to think they are special and they do not apply to them. The rule for my area states that the trash must be out by 6 a.m. and nothing over 50lbs.... not put it out a 11 a.m. because thats when you happen to see his truck go by every monday. People must be more responsible!!
VEOLIA – IT'S BEEN 15 DAYS AND 5 PHONE CALLS, BUT THEY STILL HAVEN'T PICKED UP THE CHAIR WE HAVE AT THE CURB.
dishonest billing, poor service, environmental hazard – not only has VEOLIA attempted to double bill me, they also spilled hydraulic fluid all over the street in front of my house, on my front lawn and all through the neighborhood at every stop that they actuated the compactor. i witnessed the spill /spray occuring in front of my house on tuesday november 23rd. i stopped the driver of the truck and let him know what was going on. i also instantly called veoilia to let them know what happened. they came and fixed their truck but never returned to clean up the gallon+ hydraulic fluid on the street in front of my house. the nex day, while walking my dog through the neighborhood, i noticed that my house was not the only place that a spill occured. there were several spots in the neighborhood where there was at least a gallon of fluid on the street. people have been unknowingly walking themselves and their dogs through this nasty stuff and tracking it into their homes. i took pics of the spill in fron of my house a week after it occured. they are suppose to be picking up the trash, not create an environmental hazzard and leave it to rinse into the storm drains and comtaminate the ground water. im disgusted.
I hate this company – WE were forced to use this service because I live in the Unicorp St. Louis they have been nothing but trouble. They double bill many times along with not coming to pick up your trash. They missed my pick up and I called that day and for 4 days they said they would come out but they never did. I had to go to the manager to get a credit and then he said he was "doing me a favor" The customer service is terrible they are not friendly nor are they willing to work with on your bill...for some of us that have lost our jobs at the time. They don't care at all unfortunately we have another 2 years with them....I wish I had Waste Management back now they were great to work with. STL County you made a big mistake with them....next time leave it up to the people that would be affected by this. My Rating is Very POOR!!!
avoid this waste service – Have had this trash service for years with no problems until recently. Have failed to pick up my trash twice in the last month. Called the first time said they would have someone out and they never showed until the next scheduled pick up. Happened again this week called and waiting to see if they show up. Plan on changing waste companies, to bad they were good until recently. Don't know what happened.
Unexcuseable, unbelievably bad service...veolia AND St louis, Co!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – got a bill in mid Dec for the FIRST time from this company regarding St Louis county mandated this trash service, yet they billed me from Oct-Dec. I had to pay $45 for services I was completely unaware of. And it is now Feb and THEY HAVE NEVER EVER PICKED UP MY TRASH! I even put it out a day early. And I got another bill for $38!!!!!! I call & call but nearly impossible to get through to a live person and once you do they are rude. They offered to take 1 week of service off my bill. 1 week? I still have to pay $81. Unbelievable! Trash sits for days after pick up date, then animals get into it & I have to spend an hour picking up trash out of the yard & road! Then I have to take it elsewhere! Wish I had this kinda job where you don't do squat and still get paid! St Louis Co was of no help either, but what's new?
